AIBU Books Game Part Eight

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 11:29

I've missed you all, too and it is lovely to be back home on the raft.Xmas Smile

Oh, but we need Pointless so we can stage an AIBU Books Nativity. It would be a waste not to now llandb has so thoughtfully provided us with a real, live baby to put in the manger (even if he isn't called Buttercup).

...I'm a girl and it's being cut to make a wig. But I am very sad about it because I think it's my one beauty...

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 11:32

Oops, MN! Bah! Xmas Blush

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 12:33

Have never played before but this seems like fun.

Moomin are you small and female?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 12:44

Hello Unruly, always lovely to see new bookworms/timewasters, and it is lots of fun, though it may raise doubts about your sanity.Xmas Grin

...I am indeed small and female, and a bit chilly round the ears now. But I'm not American...

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 12:48

Really? Bugger. I thought you were one of those small females.... Hmmmmmmm. Gis a clue then?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 13:00

I know, I'm being mean, aren't I? Xmas Grin

...It's in a good cause so I'm proud to make the sacrifice. But I don't like to think what my aunts will say...

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 13:53

Are you Indian?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 13:54

What's this? llandb has her her LITTEL BAYBEEE and MOOMIN IS BACKKKK!

And also Unrulysun is HERE! Welcome, it is much fun, especially if you have too many piles of books surrounding you at all times.

How very exciting. Xmas Grin

More news on the Booklet, Moomin? And how are you? And where have you beeeen? Really lovely to see you back. I thought you'd gone for good Shock

Now, back to serious matters (and yes Old Mortmain is a biscuit thief, unable to understand why the family income of zero is unable to stretch to such luxuries).

Moomin - you're not blind are you by any chance?

...probably IABU - it's probably just mice, or my little DS turning over in his sleep. Still can't help feeling there's something strange going on...

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 14:08

Hello Elephants. Have lurked a bit, was damn sure I was talking to Jo March but I have fallen victim to a cunning stunt.

Don't think a house is a home without piles of books cluttering every surface and causing respiratory problems

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 14:30

Oh, sorry, Unruly, it is rather unkind for your first AIBU. The trap was laid for people more used to my meanness vagaries.Xmas Wink And dusty, tottering piles rule here too.

It is so nice to be back, Elephants, and in the usual state of happy perplexity! Like a strayed sheep, I always find my way home in the end. MCP on the strange noises!

I don't know much more about the Booklet. He arrived via the sunroof yesterday morning and he isn't that "littel" because he's 9lb 5oz. And did I mention he is gorgeous.Xmas Smile

...I'm not blind, thank goodness, and I'm not Indian although I'd love to visit India. But we aren't rich any more so I don't suppose I ever shall. Still, I do have more freedom now we're poor...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 14:44

Wow unrulysun, I feel you have truly found your spiritual home here in that case. Some people dust books, apparently Shock Surely that spoils them completely?

I'm sure we can get Pointless back for Christmas, Moomin. Maybe if we construct a sheep-friendly advent calendar on the raft?

Blimey 9lb 5oz sounds...frankly enormous. And gorgeous, obviously :)

Are you about to get your first job, Moomin? As a cleaner in a rather nice house?

...Well it seems I was right to worry, just checked DS's bedroom and he is GONE! Do hope he hasn't wandered outside in this weather...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 03/12/2010 16:51

Had you sent him to bed without supper, Elephants? If not, MCP!

...I do some cleaning when it's necessary. I do all sorts of things but I'm working backstage, not in a house. Actually, I'm not getting paid for it because I'm learning...

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 18:01

Could he be walking in the air :)

ohhhhh the pressure to be erudite. Hmmmmmmm, bugger that.

I don't know what's gone before so bear with me...

OK - AIBU to keep looking after him when I get nothing in return?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 18:14

Ooooh now there's a thought, Unrulysun Xmas Grin

Congratulations, you win a rather gnarled carrot and a couple of lumps of coal.

Ok, I'll throw in the hat too.

If he is a small infant, or helpless critter, YABU. If not, probably YANBU. But does he know it's you that's looking after him?

OP posts:
Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 18:29

knows oh yes. Acknowledges? Well now that's a different thing. I wish I'd never bloody come.

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 18:31

This carrot's rubbish though.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 18:48

Xmas Grin Did warn you.

So is he old enough to look after himself, then?

OP posts:
llandb · 03/12/2010 18:53

Hello everyone! Yes, booklet arrived (named Sam; other lovely literary names rejected by Mr llandb, but this could count as a nod to Mr Clemens). Mostly managing to keep well-intentioned aunties at bay :)

Moooomin! Back, and back to the hair-sacrificer theme of many threads ago!

Think I missed a chance to say hello and Happy Birthday to Treacle a few pages ago Blush

Um I missed the bit where Moomin guessed CJ's (I was going to offer 'do your family not appreciate your campaign against windmills giants, but guess it wasn't that :o) -er, so, what was CJ's?

Also what was Elephants'?

And MCP on the others?
(Unruly, if someone appears to accuse you of being a nincompoop, they are probably saying NIMCP = No Idea - More Clues, Please! :o)

llandb · 03/12/2010 18:58

Ooh fsmileys! Xmas Smile

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 19:17

Impressive, llandb, back MNing and giving out carrots just days after birth. I like your style. Welcome to little Sam as well [hsmile] just in time to be a lovely snuggly Christmas baby [notbroody]

CJ was being Mortmain from I Capture the Castle IIRC.

Mine was The Snowman which I hope I did adequately, because I haven't read it since the age of about 7. Seemed apt.

AIBU to have changed my mind about my best friend?

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 19:18

Oh and congratulations llandb, so glad that you and the booklet are safe and well Xmas Smile

OP posts:
Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 19:31

He's old enough. Definitely. Not as old as his uncle mind... Things are weighing him down though.

landb we don't know each other but a newborn baby is always a cause to be :) (and possibly Envy!) congratulations!

Unrulysun · 03/12/2010 19:33

Is she in love with your man?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/12/2010 19:47

Ooh very intrigued by your uncles, weighing down etc. Weighed down literally? Or under pressure of the job, perhaps?

...Man? Pah. No, it's just that I used to think she was fun to play with, and now I think she's just a bit of a silly idiot...
