Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

ooh and hi Limelight! Of course you can play

CJCreggnog · 21/12/2010 00:23

Hi limelight!

Wedges self into bean bag, places drink and nibbles to hand, puts on recently acquired DVD of The Social Network ...

Well, loss of job, certainly. And a bit of humiliation. Doesn't affect me, though - I'm well out of it now.

MoominWashesSocksByNight · 21/12/2010 00:35

Hello Limelight, all book loonies lovers very welcome to play. And if you can dispose of some of the current ones I, for one, would be blimmin grateful! Smile

Limelight · 21/12/2010 00:48

A cowardly knight with a slightly silly name
Elfpants. Not very dignified for you at all! It's important to be brave I think.

Hmmm struggling with yours CJ

I'm stiff, and frankly a little bored. I mean, how long does this take?

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 00:53

It is important to be brave, and this particular knight has a long way to go, I feel! Gwan, put his name down, Limelight :)

stiff eh? Are you holding a position for some reason? Or...having your portrait painted maybe?

Limelight · 21/12/2010 01:00

I think Sir Tumbleweed might be our mutual friend Elfpants!

Yes definitely holding a position but not for a portrait. If only! To be honest, I'm rather relying on my bezzy mate to keep the faith.

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 01:04

Well done Limelight!

Good old Sir Tumbleweed. Xmas Grin

Hmm, are you impersonating somebody?

CJCreggnog · 21/12/2010 01:05

Are you being crucified, limelight?!

Limelight · 21/12/2010 07:03

Loving the addition of dragon power to my arsenal of household appliances!

No, not crucified although, bloody hell, marriage feels like that sometimes!

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 10:42

Are you pretending to be dead, or a statue maybe? ;)

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 10:42

dear me, I have developed a winky twitch. I meant Xmas Smile

Limelight · 21/12/2010 10:49

Ooh you're quick! I think I am although it's all a bit magical. Actually, I'm concerned that my daughter's friends might knock me over. They are all handwoven smocks and shepherd's crooks, and probably not very careful!

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 10:55

ok, no idea in that case!

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 11:29

Hello Limelight! :)

You're not a queen and pregnant by any chance are you? I have a very limited supply of statues and she's got a shepherd or two. And a fardle which is handy.

I have been bought some very posh truffles from a friend from Switzerland what are very alcoholic and which I should like to share with the assembled company in return for MCP.

...speaking of dangerous journeys I haven't even had time to change since I got back from my last one. Rather dusty and euw - what is that?!

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 11:32

And Elfpants I love your namechange (and quite possibly your winky twitch!)

ElfPantsAtMidnightMass · 21/12/2010 11:53

oooh god yes I'd forgotten the shepherd outfits - you are the statue I was thinking of then. Do you really want Leontes back though? I woud talk to Women's Aid if I were you Shock

Thanks unruly - sorry for being so clueless about most of these

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 13:27

Oh gosh do we all feel clueless then? I have this vision of Elephants and Moomin in grand Parisien salons, wearing peignoirs (whatever they are), drinking mimosas and turning elegantly to a pile of first editions 'ah! I do believe that dear unruly is referring to something by that charming Mr Shakespeare. I believe I have it to hand here next to this well thumbed copy of A La Recherche du Temps Perdue in the original French. Here it is...'

Not that I devote that much time to thinking about it... Grin

TreacleOfComfortAndJoy · 21/12/2010 16:14

Has everyone given up on mine? If I tell you that it was a cocktail party will that help?

MCP everyone else - sadly my brain seems to have turned entirely to mush in the last few months Xmas Confused

Poledra · 21/12/2010 16:27

Google got me the answer, Treacle - I clearly didn't really know it before!

Hi Limelight!

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 17:01

Treacle I haven't given up but have got quite lost - will go back and look and see. :)

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 17:10

Blimey Treacle that's a bit erudite. And google is my friend. You should have a peignoir and a swish about a salon as your prize!

Do love J Alfred Prufrock though... :)

TreacleOfComfortAndJoy · 21/12/2010 17:59

Ah, it's not really that erudite - I just picked it up the other day (and then got bored and didn't finish it Xmas Blush)
