ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/12/2010 18:58

Has your brother gone off to battle, Treacle, leaving you to care for all the old, sick and helpless? Actually, put like that, battle sounds a lot more fun.

NIMCP, Unruly and Elephants!

AIBU to let my son walk to school by himself?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 19:24

Do you think he might go into strange shops, Moomin?

...actually he was also demanding residence of foster-DS (we are currently living apart), and there is no way I am going to say yes to that! His mother was one of my best friends...

Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 20:06

Pol,there is more to being a dwarf than size,as I'm sure you know! There's how you thingamyjig your whatnots isn't there? Would you like a signed photo of Nobby as your prize??

Toffee pudding - fantastic! Don't groffle it all,Elephants!

I know from many a MN thread that the right question for Moomin is "how old is your son",but however old he is opinion will be divided...well,maybe not if he is 18...Smile

MCP,all!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 20:18

Ah I love Captain Carrot. Xmas Smile

There's, um, loads left for you, Pogle Xmas Blush

Loves a nice bit of discworld, I does. Luckily my friend is having a latterday Pratchett obsession and sends me the books after he's read them.

tried to go Christmas shopping yesterday but instead only bought three one new book s for myself my beloved father.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 20:19

...am very happy with new-DP though - surely it's not too soon to call him that, although we only met yesterday. He is quite the handsomest creature I ever saw...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 09/12/2010 20:19

Sooo glad Pol got that prize now! Grin

...He's six, but he's very sensible and he hasn't got far to walk...

Still NIMCP, Elephants. Have pity!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 20:29

Am I wrong to have a Milney feeling about yours, Moomin? Probably.

MC? Erm...

...I've put my staff completely at his disposal as well, if he needs a snack or anything. TBH I think he just wants to doze, and I'm happy to caress his ears as I watch him sleep...

OP posts:
Unrulysun · 09/12/2010 20:32

Moomin what are your main concerns?

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea or not. It all seems a bit odd to me tbh but what harm could come of it?

Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 20:37

Ears...ears? Like ,normal human ears? Or not?
Lets face it,caressing a person's ears while they sleep is hardly normal behaviour! Might you be under the influence of something? (Sticky toffee pudding? Rum?)

Unrulysun · 09/12/2010 20:41

Elephants are they long furry ears? Is his braying voice the sweetest in all of Athens?

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/12/2010 20:53

Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania/Unruly?

...Well, that's what I say. He's only got to walk a couple of blocks and everyone knows him. He usually meets my friend and her little girl on the way....

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/12/2010 20:55

Oops, Titania/Elephants!

Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 21:29

Is he usually a well behaved boy,Moomin?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 23:15

...ooh, I've been such an idiot. He's actually not that much of a looker is he... Blush Blush Blush

Love potion for Unruly, and some deeeelicious oats for Pogle. Moomin, you can have a girdle, fresh from being put about the earth in 40 minutes.

Xmas Grin
OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 09/12/2010 23:56

Oof!

...He's a normal boy but I'd say he's pretty good, despite the stress of the split with DH...

Erm, bit lost now, oh yes, CJ, MCP on the library book!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/12/2010 00:04

Think Unruly's is still up for grabs as well, with "doing what s/he's told". And Treacle being jealous of his/her brother.

fab figure btw Moomin!

CJCreggnog · 10/12/2010 00:18

Muchos confusion here. I can't seem to follow anybody's clues, I get distracted by someone else's and keep muddling up AIBUs.

HELLO TREACLE! Welcome back!

Erm, it wasn't a library book as such - more a book that I borrowed from someone's personal library. I don't think I'll have to pay a fine but I feel guilty about not returning it.

MoominMymbleandMy · 10/12/2010 00:27

Oh, CJ! Xmas Shock

That is so 'norty'. It's frying time for you with no butter, if you don't give it back sharp-ish.

Still NIMCP on all of them!

CJCreggnog · 10/12/2010 00:29

frying with no butter? Eek! Can't I have some hot toddy instead?

I know, I know - I feel really bad about it. It's just that I was enjoying it so much, and really wanted to know how it ended. But we're a long way from the man's house now ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 10/12/2010 00:39

Was it a case of nothing to read in the orphanage, CJ? If so, it was a bit U but you're only little and life hasn't been very kind so far.

Night all!

TreacleOfComfortAndJoy · 10/12/2010 09:56

CJ, is it a magic book? Does it have snakes on the cover?

Yep, Moomin, I'm fed up with being stuck at home while he goes off to battle. Especially with this creepy man around.

MCP!

AIBU to cancel the party?

CJCreggnog · 10/12/2010 11:21

I knew you'd get it, Moomin! Xmas Grin

Treacle, what kind of party? Birthday? Street? Engagement? Christening?

MCP ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 10/12/2010 12:12

Aw, you don't think Wormtongue is the answer to a shield maiden's prayer then, Treacle!

CJ, I remember Thursday's Child so well because poor Peter's bookless plight haunted me when I was younger!

...And I have to get to work and it's in the other direction. He's only got one road to cross and he likes being independent...

Unrulysun · 10/12/2010 18:06

I too am getting confused but I think part of that might be the emerging theme of Discworld. I hope so anyway because I like the game and I now have a love potion to go with my carrot. Hello to people I have not met

He only wants me to get him one little insignificant thing - I have no idea why. It seems quite odd...

Unrulysun · 10/12/2010 18:10

Moomin I taught a girl once who had a little shelf in her room for her books and when the shelf was full her mum made her throw one away before she could get another. :(
