ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 08/12/2010 13:38

CJ.I agree,YANBU,if it is a book you love - at some point the library will lose it or sell it and the next time you want to read it,it will be gone...
Disclaimer:Actually taking books from the library in RL is very wrong, and not to be encouraged/condoned in any way Grin

MCP,all!

...I've just moved here, and I reckon I've fallen on my feet...

Poledra · 08/12/2010 14:05

Elephants is it worth the risk? D'ya think you'll get caught?

CJ, what's so special about the library book then?

llandb - he is beyootifull!! What a lovely boy.

Unrulysun · 08/12/2010 16:51

Pogle is it a peach of a place? Have you come a long way? Do you know anyone there?

Elephants almost certainly YABU and, particularly if Thomas Hardy has anything to do with it, it'll come to no good. Is the urge overwhelming? Is dp a wretch?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/12/2010 21:53

Thomas Who? DH has been BU for a long time, off with other women and constantly demanding favours, and now I've fallen in love at first sight...

OP posts:
MoominWashesSocksByNight · 08/12/2010 22:04

Aw, llandb, the Booklet is yummy and so like your DD! Smile

I shouldn't say it, but you're not U at all, CJ. I wish I had pinched all the AFs I used to borrow from my library because I bet they were all sold off for 10p each. But NIMCP on your one and everyone else's!

...I am dead but I don't see why that should stop me. He needs my guidance to take over the world...

Unrulysun · 08/12/2010 22:47

Moomin are pyramids involved?

MoominWashesSocksByNight · 08/12/2010 22:56

We love Terry Pratchett! Grin

Except for CJ, who is prejudiced against elves, and gets very tetchy when we put one in an AIBU.

...No pyramids here...

Pogleswood · 08/12/2010 23:26
Smile ...I have come a long way,but I'm looking forward to my job here. And I didn't know anyone but I am making friends. The girls in my lodgings are very friendly... Grin

MCP,pretty please,Moomin - yours is driving me mad!

Pogleswood · 08/12/2010 23:35

Hmmm.Moomin, are dragons involved in any way?And a woman in rather too much leather and chainmail and not enough of anything else??

MoominWashesSocksByNight · 08/12/2010 23:36

Hmm, they're not seamstresses are they, Pogle?

...My other sons wouldn't listen. I drove them out, all seven of them...

MoominWashesSocksByNight · 08/12/2010 23:40

No dragons, but there is a young woman it's lethal to cross, even if she is planning on becoming a hairdresser.

And a bossy hat.Grin

Poledra · 09/12/2010 09:21

Pogle, you aren't a (misnamed, IMO) Angel, are you?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 09:58

Hmm, Pogle, your room-mate isn't being particularly friendly, is she?

OP posts:
TreacleOfComfortAndJoy · 09/12/2010 10:49

Hello, everyone

I'M BAAAAAAACK!

And AIBU to be envious of my brother?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 11:00

waaaahoooooo Treacle

How much fun did you have?

Is he the heir, while you're the spare?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 11:02

Pol and Elephants, I think you are probably on a higher literary plane than me...unlike Moomin! Grin

You've got a barbarian hero and a homicidal suitcase too, haven't you,Moomin! I am in the wrong book if there are no dragons though...

They are seamstresses,it's a nice steady job for a girl, isn't it? I expect their mothers are glad they are all living together in the boarding house, and not out getting into trouble...

Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 11:06

Treacle! Welcome back, and with a festive name change too! < knocks back sips hot toddy>

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 11:07

Fraid not , Pogle. Xmas Grin

Well, maybe for this particular AIBU...

OP posts:
Unrulysun · 09/12/2010 11:13

Moomin and pogleswood both living on a disc?

Moomin you're sourcering? And Pogle you're barbarianing?

I am so so wrong all the time.

AIBU to do as he says?

Pogleswood · 09/12/2010 12:22

Sourcery! Of course! (I was thinking of the Wyrmburg in The Colour of Magic)

So you get the brownie points on that one,Unruly!
I am not barbarianing though, though physically I could manage it,I am too,um,law abiding for that... and I was inspired (or whatever!)by wot you posted viz:
This is a very friendly place and no mistake.

Poledra · 09/12/2010 12:48

Aren't you somewhat erm tall for a dwarf, PoglesCarrot? P'raps you might find your talents can be utilised in the Watch - after all, Corporal Cecil Wormsborough St. John 'Nobby' Nobbs has managed to get on there, despite having to carry a certificate to prove he is human.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 13:29

Hmm Unruly - I think YABU to give in to blind obedience....unless you think it's a good idea, of course?

OP posts:
MoominWashesSocksByNight · 09/12/2010 13:48

Whee! Treacle, welcome home at long last! Thank you for the rum and hope you had a super time adventuring in Mongolia. We are two Fur Quits short, btw.Wink

Well done, Unruly, have a very battered and no longer magical staff for your prize.

TreacleOfComfortAndJoy · 09/12/2010 15:37

...I just hate being stuck at home all the time...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/12/2010 16:07

are you a girl, Treacle? If so YANBU and have considered running away from home?
