Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Grin Cheerful!

DS sings Frosty the Snowman, entertained our gaggle of guests whilst I finished off preparing Christmas dinner, ikwym about him being so proud! :) Wish this age didn't go by so fast!

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2011 00:21

That's what DS did with Rudolph, gomummy. Anywhere we went, he'd ask if he should sing it and then burst right in without waiting for an answer. :o

Teaandcakeplease · 04/01/2011 10:10

Ahhh so lovely to read all the responses on here Smile

Grin Cheerful, that's adorable!

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2011 16:07

We (by we I mean Minnesota) have a new governer today. I quite like the sound of him; we'll see how things go. He's calling for everyone to start volunteering, to pull together and help get everyone back to work, to realize that we can't do what we need to do without tax increases. He says "if anyone can do it, we can," which will strike a chord I'm sure. Minnesotans, by and large are quite a proud and stubborn determined lot. I'm lucky to live here.

:)

So...that's what's going on here. What's up with you, Benchers?

gomummygo · 04/01/2011 23:02

Congrats on the new governor Cheerful, sounds positive. Difficult to be a politician in these economic times. I think it is so lovely that you feel lucky to live where you do. I feel the same way. Wish more people did. Read this a thing once about the key to "happiness" being appreciation of things like that and it stuck with me a bit I guess.

Was reading earlier about the US twins born in different years! Illinois I think? (Hope I spelled that right Blush)

News here is mainly that our weather is much warmer than usual. Lots of snow but very far from the usual brutal January cold. Been very nice, though DH keeps ruining it by saying it just means we'll get it all later in the year and spring won't come until June, lol!

gomummygo · 04/01/2011 23:03

"Read this a thing" Blush

Read this thing
Read a thing

either way but not both, lol!

Teaandcakeplease · 06/01/2011 08:31

Wish me luck, my mum is coming today, I haven't seen her since that disastrous Monday Christmas family get together, I had a moan on my AIBU thread last night but no one responded, it's getting too long and old I think.

Was my son's birthday yesterday, did I say? He's now 2 bless him, yesterday was a good day with PIL and my ex H. Mum is coming by today to drop his present off.

Hello :)

Is this the place for newbies to introduce themselves? I've been lurking for ages but joined the other day. It all seems VERY busy here........... eeek!

Teaandcakeplease · 06/01/2011 09:13

You can hang out here of course, it's fairly quiet on here though Smile

Stay away from Am I Being Unreasonable topic area if I were you though Grin

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 06/01/2011 11:50

Oh yes - think quiet might be a good thing for the time being Grin

gomummygo · 06/01/2011 13:37

Hi Valium, and welcome. :) Been quiet on the bench lately, but we're a friendly bunch with lots of virtual goodies to eat! Grin

elmofan · 06/01/2011 16:09

Welcome Valiumredead Smile

Hi , How is everyone doing ? Mumsnet made it into the Irish mirror newspaper Grin there's an article in it about how the eastenders saga has upset thousands of mumsnetters & that the scrip writers are considering a change in the outcome of the story line ...

Teaandcakeplease · 06/01/2011 16:28

I love the letter mumsnet sent, just read it.

valiumredhead · 06/01/2011 17:28

Hello Grin Ooooooooo people said hello ( I feel all warm and fuzzy!)

gomummygo · 06/01/2011 18:00

LOL Valium (loving your name btw), what made you take the plunge from being a lurker to joining?

Are either of your newspapers online Elmo or Tea? I'd like to read the letter.

elmofan · 06/01/2011 18:05

www.mirror.co.uk/search.cfm?what=mumsnet+letter&Search=Search

Sorry don't think this link will work gomummy .

valiumredhead · 06/01/2011 18:07

gomummygo I used to post a looooooooong time ago on BMC but they brought in subs and I left on principle. Looked on here but it seemed VERY big and scary compared to BMC. Then more and more members from BMC started posting here, so I was very brave and joined Grin

elmofan · 06/01/2011 18:07

[saddo emoticon ]

valiumredhead · 06/01/2011 18:08

I was practicing my bold there gomummygo Wink

CheerfulYank · 06/01/2011 18:12

Just grow a thick skin, valium, and you'll be fine. And if you can't, just come cry on the Bench when people are mean to you. :o Welcome! We're always nice here on the Buddy Bench.

Good job with your link, Elmo ! :)

I like the letter too. At first I was like, "well it's a soap opera, they're always ridiculous", but then I thought, "how would I feel if I were a grieving mother..."

I love the influence of mumsnet. I've always thought that it takes a lot of women to really get things done Wink

elmofan · 06/01/2011 18:59

I'm baffled as getting emails from a stranger that says she has gotten my email address from mumsnet Confused
her emails go straight into my Junk box
Anyone ever had this ?

Teaandcakeplease · 06/01/2011 20:17

Well that is how it used to work before the new private message function, what does she want?

OP posts:
elmofan · 06/01/2011 20:54

Thanks Tea

That's the thing though her emails are not coming through via mumsnet Confused & I've been having trouble with my PC the last few days as a Trojan has been detected etc .
The email goes straight into the "junk" box & when i click delete it opens up , all its says is
"Hi im x & i was googling mumsnet & found your email address & want to ask you a question about single mothers "
Confused very weird.

Teaandcakeplease · 06/01/2011 22:01

Hmmm maybe a hoax or a spam mail. Delete delete delete!

My recommendation is spybot search and destroy, it's free and very good. Download it asap.
