Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Teaandchristmascakeplease · 27/12/2010 20:20

I've had a terrible day at my parents big Christmas gathering and have resurrected the old thread about smacking my son again. I just want to cry.

Tiredmumno1 · 27/12/2010 20:37

Aww tea sorry to hear you have had a bad time, who brought it up

gomummygo · 27/12/2010 21:01

Hello all. Hope everyone has had a good Christmas.

Tea. So sorry to hear about your day, must have been extremely frustrating for you, and :( for your DS. Stick to your guns, you are doing the right things for your DS. You are so kind, but they deserve to be told where to go as it does rather sound like their minds were made up in advance of your visit, and the muttered comments were well out of order. Poor DS. He is fortunate to have you for his mum.

How are you feeling Elmo and Tiredmum? Hope everyone is doing better.

Have you seen NYC on the news today re: snow? Grin Think it must be unusual for them as Pearson has had to shut down flights into there! (LOL though, it is much faster to drive there from Pearson than fly anyway with the way air travel is now!)

We hosted as per usual, all the extended fam etc. I am so glad it is over, I am exhausted!

CheerfulYank · 27/12/2010 23:23

Oh tea lovie! That sounds awful. It's not as if you aren't doing anything, you said you are giving him TO's and that's really all you can do. He's only little yet! Am Angry on your (and his, poor lil' nugget) behalf!

gomummygo · 28/12/2010 01:56

Oops, my Grin earlier was supposed to be a Shock! Serves me right for trying to type two posts at once.

On the road for a bit now so just thought I'd pop by to wave to all! :)

elmoschristmaswish · 28/12/2010 12:14

Hiya Smile

Thanks gomummy I'm feeling a bit better now & am getting my voice back [lol the dc's have been mocking me not being able to give out to them] Its dd's birthday on Friday so busy getting the house ready for a party ATM

Teaandcakeplease · 29/12/2010 20:27

Ahh thanks ladies, feeling a bit better now. It was nice to read all the support on the other thread, I just haven't had time to respond meaningfully since then Blush

Haven't spoken to my parents either since the day as I do not want to right now Angry Sad I'm sure my mum will call me in due course as she usually does.

Happy New Year to you all Smile

Its 10.30pm here so not long to go until 2011 .

Teaandcakeplease · 01/01/2011 18:49

Borrowing my brothers wifi to have a nosey on mumsnet. I'm heading home tomorrow but I've had a nice time here although ds has been unsettled staying here and not being in his usual surroundings.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 02/01/2011 02:28

Hmm...my usual resolution is to get in shape! Will go with that one again this year! :)

gomummygo · 02/01/2011 13:59

Hello all! :) I'm thinking the New Year calls for reviving the bench activity a bit. How about a mini post-holiday quiz?

1/ What was your Christmas moment with the DCs?

2/ What was the best thing you ate over the holidays?

3/ What was the shortest-lived NY resolution you have ever made?

4/ What is your favourite holiday decoration? (doesn't matter if it's yours!)

5/ Do you dress differently during the holidays? If so, how?

6/ What is your favourite holiday song?

7/ What do you look forward to most about January?

Teaandcakeplease · 02/01/2011 21:07

1/ What was your Christmas moment with the DCs?

Ooo all of it, sprinkling glitter on our balcony so Santa could find us (no chimney), Christmas morning watching my kids opening their stockings, it was lovely as DD as she's now age 3 is just starting to get Christmas. DS was a tad bemused about it all though. Eating lunch together, the lot.

2/ What was the best thing you ate over the holidays?

Ooooo it's been a quiet one here and money is tight so I guess it was Christmas lunch. Boring Blush

3/ What was the shortest-lived NY resolution you have ever made?

I have a memory like a goldfish and have no idea but it probably involved keeping fit Blush

4/ What is your favourite holiday decoration? (doesn't matter if it's yours!)

Errrr my fab new Angel for the top of the tree, cost me more money than was sensible but it is lush.

5/ Do you dress differently during the holidays? If so, how?

I wear lots of red and buy silly Chrimbo earrings.

6/ What is your favourite holiday song?

Oh crumbs, Wham last christmas is great but so are the old favs like White Christmas, Let it Snow etc.

7/ What do you look forward to most about January?

Ummmm no idea, my son's birthday? That's on the 5th, he'll be 2.

  6. Wham last christmas & the fairy tale of new york .

  7. Ds's birthday 29Th he will be 12 Smile

gomummygo · 03/01/2011 18:13

LOL, sorry Elmo, I thought the quiz writer didn't do it! Here's me:

1/ What was your Christmas moment with the DCs? DS opening presents Christmas morning, and all of the "wooooooow!" moments therein.

2/ What was the best thing you ate over the holidays? Tough one, but I will say my Christmas Eve appetizers (new recipes). Cheese involved in everything. Grin

3/ What was the shortest-lived NY resolution you have ever made? Never broken one. Blush I must make very achievable resolutions as I have very little will power.

4/ What is your favourite holiday decoration? (doesn't matter if it's yours!) Photo of our family from DS' first Christmas in a tiny frame on the tree.

5/ Do you dress differently during the holidays? If so, how? Not at all really, I always wear a lot of red.

6/ What is your favourite holiday song? I'll be Home for Christmas

7/ What do you look forward to most about January Getting the clutter out of the house! It is just too stuffed in here in December!

CheerfulYank · 03/01/2011 18:16

Hi everyone!

  1. On Christmas Eve we went for a long walk to look at all the Christmas lights and then had cocoa and watched Christmas movies. We each opened one present before we went to bed.

  2. Green bean casserole. DELICIOUS! Also this snack mix my MIL makes with Chex, peanuts, M&Ms and a ton of melted white chocolate.

  3. To lose the baby weight...especially as the "baby" is three and a half!

4)My snowbabies. My grandfather gave me one every Christmas when he was alive. He was one of the kindest men I've ever known, and I wouldn't be parted with those snowbabies for anything in the world. I miss him.

  1. Nothing really, but I did get a lovely red sweater this year that I wore to IL's Christmas.

6)I love, love, love Judy Garland's version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Also DS learned all the words to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer this year and sang it constantly. He was so proud! :)

7)Martin Luther King Jr day because I get a day off of work? :o No, I really love January. I love winter and it's nice to have a relaxing month after the holidays. I usually stay inside, read mysteries, and drink a lot of tea.

All right gomummy, your turn! :)

CheerfulYank · 03/01/2011 18:17

Hahah, I was just thinking, I bet gomummy is posting at the exact same time! :)
