Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Hello benchers! :) Family member had surgery yesterday so have been travelling a bit to help out. Will be popping on and off as I can though (no internet access there at all!).

Just saw a Declan in the birth announcements Cheerful, had never heard it before. What is St. Declan's feast day? Blush

elmoschristmaswish · 19/12/2010 14:55

Ooh tiredmum hope you feel better soon , you & bubba take care xx

Think I've caught the flu Sad went to bed at 8pm last night as i could not stop shivering & feeling sick , Then spent most of the night coughing . Dh got up early this morning to make the dc's breakfast & clean up but he's gone into work now & i cant wait until he gets home later to go back to bed .

gomummygo · 19/12/2010 16:48

Oh Elmo, sorry to hear that, it is miserable and takes so long to fully recover. :(

CheerfulYank · 20/12/2010 16:48

My eye is acting up again but I am denying that it is pinkeye. Tis just my contact, I'm sure. :)

Gomummy I think (and I don't know a ton about the Catholics either) that every saint has a feast day. DH was named Andrew because he was born around Saint Andrew's feast day, etc. I really liked Declan for DS but DH thought it was too "out there"...I'm thinking if I'd known how closely DS was born to St. Declan's feast day I might have appealed to DH's religious nature. :o Oh well. I think that's how I'll get my way with Fintan next time round... :) Have to go to work, talk to everyone later!

gomummygo · 21/12/2010 13:14

Interesting Cheerful, I didn't know about the feast days. Good luck with the strategy! :)

Pinkeye is so annoying for reinfection, I had it return twice times during our bout - but DS only had it the first time. Hope it is just your contact!

So is everyone ready for Christmas?

CheerfulYank · 22/12/2010 14:59

I'm pretty much ready. DH and I did all our Christmas shopping in one day. It was madness! But we are done, so that's good. I have to finish putting together the presents for DS's teachers and daycare helpers tonight, and we're going to bake reindeer cookies for his class.

What are your DC getting? (nosey emoticon) DS is getting a paper mache kit and these. And an Abominable Snowman stuffed animal from the Rudolph movie. :) We didn't want to do too much; we're trying that whole "it's not the point of Christmas" thing. Xmas Smile He's going to be completely spoiled by both sets of grandparents anyway!

elmoschristmaswish · 22/12/2010 17:09

We are all set for christmas Xmas Smile thankfully i had the chance to get in the last bits & bobs just before i got sick .
The snow is very thick here now that i haven't ventured outside in a few days , the dc's schools have had to close down all week due to the weather .

gomummygo · 22/12/2010 17:44

One day! Shock Wow Cheerful, must have been a crazy day!

We don't have much family, so DS is getting shamefully spoiled by us. Mostly creative/educational stuff, but also a bit more Thomas paraphernalia than could be considered rational. Grin

elmoschristmaswish · 22/12/2010 18:42

Well over here in Eire its been 20-25 years since we have had this much snow , We do not have the appropriate equipment to deal with it at all tbh . And our ridiculous Government has run out of salt/sand to grit the roads so schools & airports have closed down as too dangerous to drive on Sad .

Tiredmumno1 · 22/12/2010 19:03

Just dug way to cabin Xmas Grin hope you are feeling better elmo

Thanx for looking after us gomummy and cheerful.

We are almost sorted for xmas, presents were sorted weeks ago, the mil has got our turkey and other food bits, so we just need to get the essentials.

I am now on antibiotics so hoping to feel better in a day or 2.

Not sure bout the airports gomummy, i just assumed it was cos of safety and maybe some pilots and crew didnt want to fly, sorry that probably does not help Xmas Grin

gomummygo · 22/12/2010 20:17

Shock and :( Elmo! Sounds crazy early to have run out of salt & sand, but I guess they've been caught off guard. Hope they are able to acquire some for the remainder of the winter. Extreme weather can be so stressful in so many ways.

Blush Tiredmum, see how naieve I am? I had never even though about the possibility of the pilots/crew not wanting to fly as it is fairly normal here. I wonder if that's the holdup? Can't believe I hadn't even thought of something like that!

Hope the antibiotics help quickly. Sorry you've had to go through this all whilst pregnant, that must be really tough.

Thanks Elmo! :)

Xmas Grin
Teaandchristmascakeplease · 22/12/2010 20:39

Hello lovelies, had a horrid cold here and still coughing a bit. I'm officially divorced now, the solicitor e-mailed me today, so where's my pilot you had lined up for me? Wink LOL

I really like biblical names, especially strong biblical characters. I also love love using family names from the family tree, so I'm probably a weirdo Blush

Picking up the turkey tomorrow.

Heathrow do not own the equipment Canada do for bad snow. BAA which owns Heathrow was interviewed on the BBC yesterday and was interesting hearing them talk about how hard it was to clear the runway after the snow and keep it clear.

elmoschristmaswish · 22/12/2010 20:54

Tea your back Xmas Grin

((hugs)) hope your feeling OK & are now looking forward to a new start in 2011 .

We are meant to get a shipment of grit tomorrow hopefully then we can get out & about a bit more .

gomummygo · 22/12/2010 23:16
CheerfulYank · 23/12/2010 15:28

I'm the same way gomummy, here the snow is just a matter of course. Everyone has a bag of kitty litter in the trunk of the car for when you get stuck, everyone knows how to "turn into a skid", rock the car to get it unstuck, etc. I always used to laugh when I'd hear about places in Texas or wherever that would shut down for an inch of snow...but then I realized I could never, ever handle the heat that they have. :) So it all depends on what you're used to I suppose.

With the planes I think it's sometimes to do with the wings icing up? I think it's dangerous or something.

Tea I think your pilot is stuck at the airport gomummy was talking about! :o Go get 'im! I like biblical names too,my DS is named after Samuel in the Bible. I also love Ezra and Caleb.

Glad you found your way tiredmum! I hope you feel better soon. We've missed you!

Mmm, delicious candle elmo!

CheerfulYank · 23/12/2010 15:29

Oh just realized gomummy said the same thing about Tea's pilot. Well then it must be true...

gomummygo · 23/12/2010 17:21

LOL, you re so right Cheerful, we cannot take the heat at all and become incapacitated hiding in the basement, but can live for three days without help on what we carry in our vehicles in winter! Grin

Hope everyone is feeling better today. "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...."

elmoschristmaswish · 23/12/2010 18:01

It sure is gomummy Xmas Grin
I'm listening to this ATM

gomummygo · 23/12/2010 20:27
