Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Well I'm a dork too then Cheerful, lol, it is probably quite sad how much I love the mummy stuff! Blush As DS will be an only, I am trying to sponge up as much of each stage as I can but it is all just flying by too quickly. There are far too few days for puddle jumping and making turkeys out of handprints. Horrible to think of how soon he will be off to uni!

Bloodandsnakesplease, what a name! Grin What do you do with the DCs for Halloween?

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 19:01

It's not very big over here and being a Christian I'm likely to keep it fairly tame anyway Smile Maybe buy them a pumpkin costume and as they get older create creepy things like green porridge for breakfast etc. But keeping it silly...

gomummygo · 13/10/2010 20:55

A pumpkin costume would be so adorable! I deal with a pumpkin. DS currently wants to be a carrot or a pig. Hmm

We did not do halloween growing up (my parents called it a "celebration of evil") and as an adult I've always really disliked what I've seen of it, [party pooper emoticon] so am having to really make an effort to learn about it for DS! Fortunately DH has always loved Halloween, am counting on him to lead the way!

Seems I'm only good with holidays involving food, lol! Grin

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 21:23

Yes it is a celebration of evil by some I suppose. I try not to think about that side of it Smile

But I don't mind my children having a giggle despite my faith, as long as it's a nice giggle iyswim? I could do with a H like yours. Maybe you can e-mail me his tips and ideas Wink

elmofang · 14/10/2010 12:45

A big HELLO to everyone Smile

How are you all doing ?
Tea love the new name Grin
My dc's love Halloween . I always have a small child friendly party on Halloween & we set up games for the dc's & their cousins , friends . We usually hang up a pinata & the children have a great time trying to smack it so all the treats fall out . Then play lots of the golden oldie games like an apple on a string , blind mans bluff etc . Dh goes a bit overboard on decorations though Grin

elmofang · 14/10/2010 12:49

Just caught up on the thread . tea thats great news on baby Noah . Congratulations Smile . x

gomummygo · 14/10/2010 15:04

My parents were pretty extreme about some things like that, lol! Yes, I'm in for them having a giggle, exactly Tea. Elmo your halloween plans sound great. Love the ideas on the retro games!

CheerfulYank · 14/10/2010 20:48

Ooh, that does sound fun Elmo! Love your name tea! I tried to think of something but was having a brainless day :)

DS cannot decide what he's going to be this year. So far it's an astronaut, pirate, skeleton, scarecrow, or superhero. Hmm...we'll have to decide on just one somehow! There is a "fall fun festival" for his school (many people around here are quite religious and don't celebrate Halloween as such) and then we are thinking of trick-or-treating. I am the same tea and gomummy, I like friendly pumpkins and autumn stuff but tend to steer away from things that are too creepy.

The leaf collages were really cute gomummy, the kids glued leaves on a board, brushed over the whole thing with watered-down glue and then added autumn-colored glitter. Stunning! :)

Mumcentreplus · 14/10/2010 20:51

hey ladies

CheerfulYank · 14/10/2010 21:10

Hi mumcentre! :)

Mumcentreplus · 14/10/2010 21:19

Hey Scareful(is that a word?)yank Smile

Bloodandsnakesplease · 14/10/2010 21:47

CheerfulZombie? You should go on that thread where people help you come up with a name, the other suggestion for me was "WitchesbrewandEyeofFrogplease" LOL Smile

Name thread

gomummygo · 14/10/2010 21:58

I really like the idea of a "fall fun festival" Cheerful. We did steal the leaf collage idea (yours sound great!), but have ended up with a centrepiece for the table with the leaves, pinecones, little gourds, etc. It started as a wreath but grew far too heavy to hang anywhere, lol! Poor DS wanted to glue on everything we could find outside (it even contains two rocks, lol!).

Hi MCP! I'm thinking that's not a word, but hey, tis the season! Grin

gomummygo · 14/10/2010 22:00

Xpost Tea, I am PMSL @ "witchesbrewandeyeoffrogplease"!!

Far, far more creative than I could ever aspire to be!

CheerfulYank · 16/10/2010 01:25

Gomummy I think we're also going to cut leaf shapes out of crumpled brown paper bags and paint them autumn colors and then make a garland with the leaves & a festively colored ribbon. Easy and fun! :)

gomummygo · 17/10/2010 20:52

Hello Benchers! :) Thanks to MCP's rope, I did not in fact float away, have just been down with a migraine.

Cheerful what a great idea that is! May I ask where you obtain the brown paper bags? They were so useful but I haven't seen them anywhere for years.

Well we have just roasted pumpkin seeds and I am now chowing down on them as I cook. By the time dinner is ready I will not be hungry, lol. I am terrible for eating as I cook.

How is everyone doing today?

Bloodandsnakesplease · 17/10/2010 20:59

Roasted pumpkin seeds? [cluelessemoticon]

gomummygo · 17/10/2010 21:06

Sorry, showing my naievety, I did not know that was not universal! Blush You take the seeds out of the pumpkins, wash them off well, coat in olive oil and sea salt (or whatever flavour you prefer, DH likes cajun), and then roast in the oven for about 8 minutes. Like tasty little chips. Delicious! Not exactly health food but a wonderful fall treat.

Bloodandsnakesplease · 17/10/2010 21:08

Oooo yummy!

gomummygo · 17/10/2010 21:20

Mmmm, they are! :)

I find this the worst time of year for munching - between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don't know if it's all the fall harvest stuff or the warm comfort food or what, but I feel like from mid-October to the end of December we are always eating or snacking on something! Blush

Bloodandsnakesplease · 17/10/2010 21:22

Sounds like heaven to me Smile

gomummygo · 17/10/2010 21:26

Ahhh Tea, a kindred spirit! :)
