Hello all

This is a thread for people who have decided that life is much better without alcohol!🤩 These threads were started by @Drybird, and they have changed the lives of many people.

Some posters on these threads have been sober for a long time, and some are only just starting. We are a very friendly and inclusive bunch and we are always excited when someone new joins the thread. The only thing we ask is that our posters have given up alcohol completely. Talk of moderation can be triggering for some people, so this thread is not the right place for that (there are other moderation threads🙂).

We are a supportive welcoming bunch. No question is ever to “ silly “ and their is generally someone around if you are struggling

So just come here to chat or vent or check in . Whatever you need as you ride the rollercoaster of an alcohol free life Smile

Thankyou to bunnies for hosting the last thread.
And here’s to the next 40 pages Grin

@ChampooPapi what drybird said ^
You’re back here and today is another dry day for you to celebrate.

How is the course going?

MagratLancre · 24/02/2022 16:37

Hi everyone. I too had a set back last night, went to my book club that was moved to a pub, had a glass of red. Got home, had another with DH. Felt awful all day, still got terrible headache. Felt so upset with myself even as I was drinking it. Made me realise, I'm done with it.

Fortheloveofgodwhy · 24/02/2022 18:15

Well my first pub test is about to happen. Only for dinner with the family so I’m telling you all now… so I must be accountable 🤞😬

Adm1010 · 24/02/2022 19:33

@ChampooPapi I can’t add anything to what others have said . Don’t be hard on yourself . It’s a blip . Not a lapse

The “ you’re not that bad “ voice had a go today . Hmm such weird timing , was showering and getting ready for work …. And up it popped !! Grin like whack a mole but with voices …

Borrowbox · 24/02/2022 20:07

Love the description of the "you're not that bad voice". Mine has been a constant presence today. Think the end of my working week, the shit storm that is the world atm, and DH's birthday tomorrow have meant wine is on my mind a lot!

Don't be too hard on yourselves @ChampooPapi and @MagratLancre They were both circumstances where a lot would be tempted. Just learn from it and move on. I doubt anyone has ever managed to give up drinking on the first attempt!

Have a good evening all. I just got some new herbal teas and am probably a bit too excited about them...

BunniesBunniesBunnies · 24/02/2022 20:47

Ah sorry to hear that @ChampooPapi. I agree with everyone else! It’s a blip, learn from it and move on! Same to you @MagratLancre.
Hope you are both feeling a bit better now

SavBbunny · 25/02/2022 06:57

Morning all.

Big test today, lunch with boozer friend. Trying to change venue to pub I know with AF gin. Wish me luck

Kindtomyself · 25/02/2022 07:26

Morning all
@SavBbunny have a good time today and hope you get your AF gin.

As everyone else is saying @ChampooPapi and @MagratLancre it was just a blip. Dust yourselves off, learn from it and continue with your AF journey.

MagratLancre · 25/02/2022 07:29

Thanks everyone for your kindness and support. Feeling so much better today.

Newmum738 · 25/02/2022 07:30

90 days! Whoop whoop! Feeling good. It has become a lot more normal and hoping it just gets easier from here on in. Celebrating tonight with M&S Fizzero, nice meal of some sort and a well-earned desert!!

Fortheloveofgodwhy · 25/02/2022 07:32

Have a good time @SavBbunny AF gin at lunch time still seems hard core to me 🤣 never a gin girl.

I survived the pub. Bill was much cheaper than normal 😉

SavBbunny · 25/02/2022 07:33

@Newmum738

Well done. 90 days, a magic number. X

Adm1010 · 25/02/2022 07:45

@MagratLancre onwards! Flowers

@Newmum738 amazing!! You deserve to celebrate

@Fortheloveofgodwhy well done surviving the pub! And yay for cheaper bills!!

I’m finally starting to lose weight . I’m doing 16 8 . Early days but it seems to suit me .
Caffeine wise I’m down to three cups now from 7 strong cups .
Feeling strong 💪

@Adm1010

Well done. I have three teas. Costs me because i have sugar.

Fortheloveofgodwhy · 25/02/2022 10:00

@Newmum738 crossed post earlier. Just seen your 90days that is awesome well done 👏

Drybird2020 · 25/02/2022 12:29

Well done @SavBbunny for getting a plan in place before you meet your friend.

@MagratLancre, well done picking yourself up and getting on with it. I have noticed over the course of these threads that for some people an early slip can be the final confirmation that they are done, and I hope that's true for you.

@Fortheloveofgodwhy - cheaper eating out bills are brilliant. Means you can do it more often, and save on the taxi home too. And not wait hours for a night bus while trying not to wet your knickers.

@Newmum738, congratulations! The 90 day mark is a really important one. You are half way to 6 months (that's the point the AF life became really secure and real and permanent for me). But watch out - in AA the 90 day chip is red as a warning. It's a classic time for the "I'm not so bad- I can do it now - just the occasional one won't hurt" voice to start nipping your brain.

@ChampooPapi how are you doing?

Kindtomyself · 25/02/2022 12:29

@Newmum738 well done on 90 days.

@Adm1010 great news about the weight loss I'm going to google 16 8 now

BunniesBunniesBunnies · 25/02/2022 13:51

@Newmum738 massive congrats, 90 days is a biggie! Keep going!

SavBbunny · 25/02/2022 14:05

Well lunch over and very poor service.
Food OK but Torres AF wine red was absolutely vile. Didn't drink it and didn't pay. Purple vinegar!
Out with true boozer but she drove so saved from the risk. I walked home.

Kindtomyself · 25/02/2022 14:43

@SavBbunny well done for the lunch but sorry that the service was rubbish and wine horrible - disappointing

sunshineforest · 25/02/2022 17:03

@Newmum738 congratulations! That has genuinely inspired me! 37 days here and 90 feels a long way off

Well done @SavBbunny and thanks for the heads up re the horrible wine

AlloftheTime · 25/02/2022 20:07

@Newmum738 amazeballs! Well done here’s to your first century x
@sunshineforest every day counts and it really will start to feel easier - in no time you will be marking all the big numbers 👍
@ChampooPapi how are you today?

BunniesBunniesBunnies · 25/02/2022 20:28

Hope you are all having a chilled Friday night! I had a horrendous day at work but I can proudly say I am tucked up in bed all sober and clean (had a nice bath).
@SavBbunny I love your dedication to alcohol free wines😅 I have stopped trying any as I found them all so horrible…

Borrowbox · 25/02/2022 21:01

Evening all, and congratulations @Newmum738 Brilliant milestone!

Sorry to hear about your bad day @BunniesBunniesBunnies but your evening sounds wonderful. I am all cosy on the sofa with one of my new teas. Feeling very content.

@Adm1010 I am also doing 16:8, have been for a couple of months. It is a lot easier now I am not drinking as I cam start my timer a lot earlier! How are you getting on with it? I have only just started losing weight, but was feeling quite good for it.

It was DH's birthday today so a few tests, especially with it being a Friday. I made it though and in an hour will have made 20 days so really pleased.

Have a great weekend everyone.

SavBbunny · 26/02/2022 07:31

Morning all,
Survived another Friday which was my wine night. Went to bed as RA playing up so milked it bit. Have Nosecco and Gordon's if I fancy it.
I am going to confess to something, I don't get so angry anymore! Not sure if it's the lack of booze or better sleep. A weird one.
