New thread for those of us attempting Dry January.

Day 46 here. I think this is my longest streak since being pregnant with DS2 who is now 9. Go me!

MyGhastIsFlabbered well done you!

H1Drangea · 17/02/2022 11:10

I’m not completely alcohol free as I have had some wine over the last weekend , but considering I would easily get through probably 4 bottles a week , what I’m consuming now is very little
I had a bottle over 3 nights last weekend and 2 glasses when we went out for dinner at the end of January

I’m still using the I Am Sober app , as I like the daily affirmations 👍

I have a dinner with friends planned in early March , which is usually a long night with loads of chat and wine , but I have driven before and know I can do it again

guineapigs · 18/02/2022 12:37

Yesterday I had a half bottle of Prosecco. It was dh's birthday. Earlier times I would have had a glass of wine with lunch, couple beers later on and finally Prosecco. I didn't feel drunk and I slept well. I think moderating is going well.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 18/02/2022 18:09

I'm facing the biggest test - half term at Butlins...I'm torn between wanting to continue abstaining and wanting to drink with DH.

OP posts:
MyGhastIsFlabbered · 20/02/2022 12:31

Day 50 today. The holiday dilemma has been postponed because Butlins is shut until tomorrow because of the storm.

But let of me feels like I won't enjoy the holiday the same if I'm not drinking and I don't know how to change that mindset. And I know DH misses his drinking buddy so will be unconsciously trying to sabotage me.

I'm tired, hormonal and stressed so not feeling all the lovely benefits I previously felt from not drinking.

H1Drangea · 20/02/2022 21:34

Moderating this weekend , and doing ok
It could have been a lot of damage yesterday as we went out for lunch wit the inlaws ( MIL birthday ) they’ve always been kind to me , but MIL says awful , horrible things about SIL ( her step daughter ) and I just don’t like it ( and it makes me worry about what she says about me to other people ) so could have hit the bottle big time
But didn’t , I’m finishing the bottle of white tonight
In my eyes , that’s a good result

Weather is horrific here @MyGhastIsFlabbered the storm seems to have been here and battering us for over a week ( only been out for one walk ! That’s not like us )

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 21/02/2022 17:54

I'm facing my toughest challenge. We finally made it to Butlins after being delayed twice because of the storms. I've done 50 dry days and I'm super proud of that. Part of me wants to continue to stay dry but part of me wants/needs to drink, relax and enjoy myself. I'm tying myself up in knots thinking about it and it would be so much easier if I could make a decision and stick to it

Well I didn't crack. Still dry, day 52 today

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 22/02/2022 20:47

Where is everyone? Finding this week a struggle but fairly determined to get to my 100 days. If I can get through this week I can get through anything, am I right?

Alexandra2001 · 22/02/2022 20:57

Day 51 for me, what started off as a bit of a joke to see if i could do DJ, has now turned into a lifestyle thing... wolfing down Diet Tonic water & cramps i used to get after a long run have vanished, so i m better hydrated too.

i found out that the normal stuff has over two teaspoons of sugar per large wine glass :(

Alexandra2001 · 22/02/2022 20:58

@MyGhastIsFlabbered Good on you! thats my aim too 100 days alcohol free :)

H1Drangea · 22/02/2022 23:12

I’m in London with the grown up Dc ( and not surprisingly have just paid for dinner for the 4 of us … I’ll get treated one day )
Had a small glass of Sauvi B which was lovely
Going to a matinee tomorrow with DD and catching the train home in the evening , will stick to water and coffee this time on the train , I’m usually tempted when the trolley comes along
I will be strong 💪🏼

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/02/2022 08:51

@Alexandra2001 I've transferred my sugar addiction to sweets and chocolate though now I'm not having the wine. I'll tackle that next!

Lol Yes i had Dry January, now i'm on Fasting February...

Shortkiwi · 23/02/2022 10:35

I’ve put a bit of weight on since being AF unfortunately, loving the sweet stuff and eating more generally. Any tips?!

Hohofortherobbers · 23/02/2022 21:51

Well done @myghastisflabbered I gave no idea what happens in my account with this thread but it so rarely updates, it doesn't appear on my 'threads I'm on' and I get no email notifications. So I drop off both the radar and the wagon I'm afraid Blush. Half term I went back to daily drinking and nightly not sleeping. Back to dry today as I NEED sleep. Aiming for tomorrow too then I'll think about Friday.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/02/2022 22:15

@Hohofortherobbers don't apologise for falling off the wagon - we've all done it. And half term can test the best of us. Lord know, I love my DC dearly, but I swear my two haven't stopped talking for more than 1 second since Friday and fucking hell I'd love some peace and quiet.

OP posts:
H1Drangea · 25/02/2022 09:58

Off the wagon for a little while , a good break from alcohol has had a significant impact on my being able to drink moderately.
I couldn’t do it before , but can now
We’re putting the house on the market , and having thought we’d have a good 10 days before the photographer does his stuff it’s a bit of a shock to find he’s coming on Wednesday ! So 5 days to get everything Country Homes and Interiors style ready 💐
No pressure !
Gets black sack and books tip to trip

H1Drangea · 26/02/2022 14:36

Well. I spoke too soon !
Didn’t have a huge amount of wine , but fell asleep on the sofa watching Death in Paradise which isn’t good , so back on the wagon today
Day One ( again ) ✅

JaquiRussell · 27/02/2022 13:10

Just checking in day 58 here. Feeling so much more relaxed these days, didn't even really consider myself as having anxiety particularly before but clearly was more antsy than I'd realised. So far I've found as long as I have a tasty alcohol free drink ready for Friday, I'm alright 🙂

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 27/02/2022 13:30

Day 57 here. Feeling a bit off today - missed my antidepressant last night and my pharmacist is closed today and I feel like I drank too much last night and have hangover anxiety today.

OP posts:
H1Drangea · 01/03/2022 09:14

I’ve already restarted , but I’m using March 1st as a new start date ( new month , new habits etc )
@MyGhastIsFlabbered hoping you’re feeling better today

Shortkiwi · 01/03/2022 17:14

I had a 4 day big birthday celebration last weekend, away with my family.
I consumed a little bit of champagne but kept mainly to AF drinks. I didn’t feel deprived. Normally I would have been the ring leader! Didn’t have any hangovers which was nice. Now back on the AF bus.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 03/03/2022 07:10

I hit day 60 yesterday. But I'm struggling - not to stay dry as such - I just don't want to 'adult' at the moment Confused
