Well Helloo everyone. We all stopped posting. Just wondered if anyone is still around and is anyone still sober? I am amazingly, about day 220 ish, over 7 months now, have given up counting. I consider having a drink frequently but I’m just not that bothered. Never thought I’d say that. I may feel differently once the world opens up again though.

Well done @writingsonthewall!!! Such an achievement. Hope everyone is doing well. I am drinking weekends but doing ok I guess! Grin

Ineedaslap · 04/04/2021 10:21

I'm not doing well at all, using alcohol as a crutch.

I have vowed to start again come tomorrow, and try and look after myself as I am not doing myself any good at the moment.

@writingsonthewall that is amazing, well done!

@Beebopawhop That's good, I need to try and do just weekend drinking.

Beebopawhop · 04/04/2021 10:30

@Ineedaslap its not easy I understand, yesterday it was 4pm after a busy day I said to H when will we open the wine and he said you start drinking too early and then I got in a right huff, didnt know what to do with myself so had some rum that was lying around...I dont know I actually feel like ok when we just do fri sat sunday but even then its 3 days, i dont feel awful or hangover i think it depends on what ive eaten? but also ive been a bit sad and like you using it as a crutch to forget....theres been another thread that started something about just doing it for 10 days and then seeing how you feel...i might do that starting maybe today/tomorrow?

Ineedaslap · 04/04/2021 11:13

@Beebopawhop 4pm isn't particularly early, that's the usual time I start unless I am at work or doing something.

The thing I find with using it as a crutch is it's good at the time but the next day things are still bad. I did have a few days the other week where I didn't drink and I felt so much more positive so I know it's daft drinking like I do.

The 10 days thing sounds like a good idea, I am due to go out on the 16th April with friends to the pub, sounds good to say that haha! so having 10 days off beforehand would be beneficial. I'll have a look for that thread.

Hi @Beebopawhop and @Ineedaslap nice to hear from you both. Glad you're doing ok, and the good thing is that tomorrow is always another day if you do want to change something.

Life has been hard lately cos so boring and lockdown getting to everyone anyway. And yeah even short breaks or a day off is better than nothing so don't beat yourselves up.

Happy Easter all 🐣
