Dion 😂😂😂😂. Will definitely use that. If I do they might say I don't even need to do a foundation year and bump me straight onto the degree. Fucking hope not, fancy 4 years twatting about at uni for shits and giggles.

Lol at mangoes! My kids will bankrupt me over dried mango one of these days. There's probably a story in there somewhere.

Have just given blood for the first time in forever and am replenishing myself with NHS club biscuits.

Kids' parents evenings tonight. Dd2 is confident she will get a glowing report. Dd1 not so much "i do try hard but if it's about behaviour....well....i don't mean to be naughty and i try hard not to be but i can't always help it....". Lol. At least she's self- aware. Dcousin is staying tonight as she's on a course. Have most of a pig and half a cow to serve up.

NC4Now · 04/03/2020 16:07

Lol, I love DD1 Longest. I can relate to that. Sometimes I can't help being naughty either. It's why I work for myself. The only person to bollock me is me.
Hope parents' evening goes well.

I think bankrupt over dried mangoes is one of the questions in a 'what class are you?' quiz.

Will your kids bankrupt you over:
A) Dried mangoes
B) Curly wurlies and a can of Tango

Mine are definitely B, sadly.

longestlurkerever · 04/03/2020 16:32

Lol NC4. They're currently keeping it real by chowing down Sainsbury's bacon crispies. Poor man's rashers. But they're having ginger pig sausage rolls for tea because they are North London kids at heart.

My wfh plan has been kind of shot by blood donation appointment and my bezzie mate flying in from spain for a meeting tomorrow opposite my office. Felt churlish to say I couldn't meet for lunch. He's one of those annoying law partner types too, loaded and also happily child free. He does not gaze in envy at my life, that is for sure. Still, i might get a free lunch out of it ;-).

Dionysa · 04/03/2020 17:02

Longest, I think I need to know about this Ginger Pig. There's not one around here, but I think I wish there were.

I have achieved sod all today.

However, I have bought some Coke Zero as a "treat" (hollow laugh) for this evening.

Oh well, I can go to bed in about four hours' time, so that's another few hours in which I can achieve yet more sod all.

Good luck with parents' evening. DD is going to see her delightful father, so I am having a night off (not that I deserve it, after my unproductive day).

longestlurkerever · 04/03/2020 17:24

Ah they are a London institution i think, though the farm is in Yorkshire. They have a website now but you have to spend £100 to get free delivery and i am the exact combination of spendthrift and cheapskate that means i now have a fridge full of large joints that are too expensive to freeze, as i was too lazy to trek down to Borough Market. Going to have posh sausages for breakfast!

Enjoy your coke. Productivity is overrated imo.

NC4Now · 04/03/2020 19:12

I agree Longest - productivity is overrated. Anyway, you're doing brill Dion - four days in you can expect to feel a bit lethargic, so not achieving much is a win.

I also fancy Ginger Pig, but bacon Frazzles are a more likely alternative. I'm lucky that I live in Booths country though, so I can get my fill of posh and locally sourced when I feel swanky.

I'm teetering tonight.
I've had my nails done today (thank god because they were desperate), went for a brew with my PT, made an appointment to get my roots done and cleaned downstairs (house, not me). Not mega productive but I feel better for doing all those things.

Oh I took DS2 to the doctors too - his blood sugar is normal, so that's good news.

But it's only Wednesday - why do I want wine?

Waterandlemonjuice · 04/03/2020 19:47

NC4 you want wine because Wednesday 😂

NC4Now · 04/03/2020 19:52

Oh yeah. Duh!

My brother’s just been sending me wine Wednesday meme’s too. He’s caved tonight. I’m blaming him!

Waterandlemonjuice · 04/03/2020 20:01

Longest, sounds like a nice lunch tomorrow, enjoy. I hope he takes you somewhere swanky (The Corinthia is nice!)

Dionysa it’s fine to achieve sod all sometimes, Enjoy the Coke zero, living the dream hey?

NC4 lol at class mango quiz and at downstairs of house not you. I have a friend who mouths ‘my downstairs’ and points downwards when talking about her vagina 😂

I’ve walked 2 miles on the treadmill (envying lawyers in The Split, mainly the character who is shagging this guy, swoon), done some washing, taken dd to a sixth form interview and then I broke my diet and had a chip butty for supper. Oh well, at least I’m AF.

Dionysa · 04/03/2020 20:15

Evening chums.

I'd be shagging him too, Water. Thank you for sharing.

I laughed at your spendthrift/cheapskate comment, Longest.

I used to live near a Booths, NC4. It was fab.

Have had the sodding Coke. Added blackcurrant cordial to it, because I'm #livingthedream

I have also eaten, so that takes the edge off the urge to drink.

If you discount the three days which involved small glasses of lunchtime wine, it is Day 6 today. I have not managed this for a very, very long time. I'm probably still hungover from last Thursday.

longestlurkerever · 04/03/2020 23:16

That's brilliant work Dion!

Hmm, lunch is now under threat because i have to take dd1 to the sodding emergency dentist unless i can lean on dh and he's already covering for me Friday. Totally living the dream here. I also can't work out what i am doing wrong with her teeth.

On the positive side both girls got glowing reports at parents' evening. They're so different it's comical - dd1 is still v impulsive and undisciplined but she's creative and enthusiastic and her teacher is really pleased with her, she's exceeding expectations across the board, especially in reading, but doesn't necessarily do as she is asked. Dd2 is teacher's pet, a people pleaser and very rule driven, but also doing very well. They were very keen for me to get her to write a story so they can tick that she's exceeding expectations too but that's transparently for their benefit rather than hers so while I'm sympathetic up to a point i am not going to push it if dd2 is reluctant. She wrote a menu that said "chees samwij, bred, karut," which made my heart sing.

Not AF because dcousin is here but have not gone mad.

NC4Now · 04/03/2020 23:24

Sarnwij

dollface19 · 05/03/2020 06:15

How is everyone doing? I've been a bad pledger n failed miserably 😫 don't smoke I rarely go out or buy clothes etc so I think oh I deserve this 😟 well no you don't doll!
I've drank mon tues and last night this week
Excuse is I'm stressed n a single mum trying to b two people tonight I am not drinking !!! Or sat I am out tomorrow however so will b xx

Waterandlemonjuice · 05/03/2020 09:16

Ahhhh Longest, that’s sweet! Glad parents evening was good and I hope the dentist goes ok.

Checking in briefly, I’m on day 11 AF, day 5 AF in March woo hoo and day 38 overall this year.

I’ve got a bloody cold sore though, haven’t had one for ages so that’s annoying, especially as I don’t feel run down, which is when they normally happen. Oh well.

Waterandlemonjuice · 05/03/2020 09:18

Day 6 is brilliant Dionysa, well done. Do you feel any better? 🌟

Dionysa · 05/03/2020 09:47

Thank you, Water. I do actually feel a bit better generally. And I'm surprised I haven't had any hideous withdrawal symptoms, because I was fully expecting them (perhaps they have been masked by the lunchtime bits of wine).

I had a dream last night that I was drinking loads of wine, and was very pissed off with myself for it. So I was glad to wake up and realise that it hadn't happened in reality.

Sorry about your cold sore Sad

Longest, I love that menu!! Good luck with the dental problems. My dentist once told me that some people are just really, really unlucky with their teeth/enamel, and parents always blame themselves - but there's very little they could actually do.

longestlurkerever · 05/03/2020 13:42

A reprieve! The abscess is related to her old filling and not new decay and we just need to keep it clean with saltwater till it goes down. Dd1 cried through the xray but skipped out, and conned me into buying her a new book as a reward. So I missed my lunch out but can give myself a break. Know what you mean though. I just brush my teeth and forget about them and they're fine. Dh spends ages on his and has loads of fillings. Dd1 unfortunately takes after him rather than me i think, though dentist is always a bit judgy. She's on mat leave though and the new one is kinder!

I haven't done very well either dollface. Will attempt AF tonight though.

Waterandlemonjuice · 05/03/2020 16:31

Dionysa, glad you are feeling a bit better.

Longest, good news re the dentist.

I’ve just been browsing this thread which is good for anyone worrying about Corona

Frouby · 05/03/2020 18:35

Evening all

Wasn't dry last night for no other reason really than Wednesday. And had period pains. So had 2 cans of lager. But stopped at 2 which I was pleased with. Moderate if nothing else.

Got my fingers in my ears with regards to CV. Confirmed case 2 miles from me, a parent with primary aged dcs. The school is about 1.5 miles from ours. Glad I had heard rumours and decided not to take him swimming last night as the leisure centre is between us and the affected area and used by people from that area.

Have spent the afternoon writing about mangoes 😂😂😂. Was quite pleased with myself by the end of it all. Showed it dd (who is a bit of an English swot these days) and she was also very impressed. Gave me a couple of pointers but was generally very complimentary.

Sausage and mash for dinner. Dd got dragon boating so just about to go get her so will be dry tonight unless I have a sneaky g and t when I get home.

OP posts:
Dionysa · 05/03/2020 21:11

Poor DD1, Longest - but that is good that it isn't new decay. I always used to buy books for my DC as rewards for horrible things, so it takes me back... DS still regards a book as a reward, though DD would think I had lost the plot completely.

I want to hear more about the mangoes, Frouby. Grin I am full of admiration for your industriousness.

I have got a horrible headache, so have not done much. Have just collected DD from a friend's house. It was nice not to have to make an excuse (which I have done on several occasions, when the truth has been G&T Blush).

Day 7. More Coke Zero and cordial. Bed soon.

Will not do Day 8, though, as DP is coming back tomorrow from a trip away. Still, if it's planned, it's better than my usual random 'drinking because it's a day ending in a Y'.

NC4Now · 05/03/2020 21:19

Day 7 is brilliant Dion. And you’ve learned that you can stop without dreadful withdrawal symptoms. Double win’

Kevinthestick · 05/03/2020 21:33

Hullo! Day 4 for me and getting to a bit of indecision as to whether to have a drink this weekend. Sort of don't want to break my newly forming habit of not drinking but friend is asking whether I want to come out for one.... do I go? Not go? Drink? Not drink? The fact that I'm even considering a. Not going and b. Not drinking feels like a big deal

Dionysa · 05/03/2020 21:50

Kevin, I know what you mean. I sort of don't want to break it either. I'm a bit afraid that I'll remember how nice it is to drink, once I do it tomorrow. But I am going to do it anyway.

How did we ever get into this?

And thank you, NC4.

I know there are people on this thread who have done miles better than me, but they will also know how badly I have done since Thread 1 and that 7 days is the equivalent to 7 years for some people!!
