I was AF by skin of teeth btw. Which is good as dsis are here tonight and i will need to be sociable, especially as i have begged a favour and dsis is covering the school run

Waterandlemonjuice · 30/01/2020 13:11

Hurrah for cute dog story! NC4, that’s still progress I think. 24/25 days is very, very good. I too drank lots of units when I did drink but I’m going to work on that.

Longest, it does sound like a viable plan if you can retrain etc. I still reckon you should apply and see what happens. You don’t have to take it if you get it but you definitely won’t get it if you don’t apply...I’m glad your job is good today 🙂

I’ve been for a walk, updated my cv and sent it out and started a blog. Now I need to get dressed! It’s nearly the weekend and the end of January, nice!

Frouby · 30/01/2020 16:41

Peroni didn't have to shout very loudly at all. Sigh. Only those little bottles tho, think they 250ml maybe. But I did drink all 4 🙈.

Literally got home 20 mins ago from 8.15am. Dropped ds at school, fed chooks, went to hairdressers 25 mins away, nipped to tesco, went to pick ds up and realised I had left my phone at hairdressers so had to drive all the way back over for it through all the busy post school run traffic. Fml.

Think dd got dragonboating tonight though am hoping not so will possibly, maybe be dry.

Reasons to love my dsis #783. Not only did she cover school run for me with toddler and baby dns and zero fuss, by the time i got home an hour and a bit later the kids had eaten AND baked cakes for sodding school cake sale.

Waterandlemonjuice · 30/01/2020 20:53

Yay for nice sister Longest!

We did parents eve, came home and I cooked and I opened the wine so not AF - I’m back on day 19. We’ve been invited out tomorrow so won’t be AF then either but back to it on Sunday. Lovely supper though: rosemary and garlic baked Camembert; salad; sweet potato wedges with a sour cream and chive dip; very rare thinly sliced tuna steak with soy and honey dressing; french bread.

longestlurkerever · 30/01/2020 21:53

Wow, salivating water! Not AF either. Shared 2 bottles between 4. Though for once i might have had slightly less than my share as had to fetch dd1 from brownies.

NC4Now · 30/01/2020 22:11

Water I'm totally on the other end of the cooking spectrum to you this week.
The dog story didn't come off, but it got me out of the house and I was paid anyway, so I went to help my friend who was moving into her new flat today. A nice walk across the park, unloaded a couple of boxes, then an espresso martini, a gym session, followed by pasta, meatballs and a jar of sauce.
Or should I say - meatballs in a tomato bechamel, with brine soaked fusilli and a spinach and beetroot garnish?

•Longest* I need a sister like yours. Or any sister actually. I always wanted one, and now I see why...

Pmsl at Nigella pic NC4!

🍸🍸🍸 to Longest and everyone not AF

Chin chin

Frouby · 30/01/2020 22:54

I like the sound of both of those meals. Jarred pasta sauces are lovely, me and dd love readymeal pasta dishes as well. They are full of shit but taste so nice! Very different to a homemade sauce, and sometimes you just need the comfort.

I made my first gousto recipe today and it was lush! Indonesian style prawn curry with rice and green beans. Similar to a thai with coconut milk but much stronger flavours and very punchy. Will definitely make it again.

Also had hairdressers which is always nice. And only had 1 beer as was taxing dd around so didn't open it until 7.30pm. Absolutely shattered now.

That sounds really nice Frouby. Did it take much prep? I'm that busy/stressed at the moment that if it takes longer than 20 minutes, with about 15 of them wandering off checking emails, kids or my mental health, it's generally a non starter.

I'm just polishing off a bottle of prosecco - a little extra je ne suis quoi to my pasta dish.

Chin chin indeed!

Chin chin indeed!

Checking back in ready for February. Nice short month

MadameF · 31/01/2020 09:20

MyOH is Emmanuel, it's a nice name and can be shortened to Manuel or Manu

Waterandlemonjuice · 31/01/2020 10:16

That’s nice Madame! (Was it meant for this thread?😂)

Hi accidental, welcome back

That meal sounds lovely Frouby, I like Indonesian food.

Fell asleep on the sofa fgs but no hangover as I drank water as well. I’m still not as moderate as I’d like, oh well, I need to keep working on that.

Happy Friday everyone! January is nearly over!

NC4Now · 31/01/2020 10:17

Did you mean to post that here Madame? Grin
I like that name though. I’d shorten it to Mani, like the bass player in the Stone Roses.

NC4Now · 31/01/2020 10:23

Actually - question here for the mums of teens crew. Do you think this needs further investigating?

DS2 is SO tired all the time. He can’t get out of bed in the mornings. He often goes to bed when he gets in from school. He’s always in bed for 10pm and if I look in on him at 11ish he’s asleep. Sometimes he has his headphones on - he’s always listened to audiobooks in bed since he was a baby but has switched to music as a teen.
If I leave him at the weekend he will sleep till 12, 1pm.

I know teenagers do sleep a lot but it seems crazy. But then, this is the kid who kept up his afternoon nap till he started school and would still nap at the weekend till he was around 9 or 10.

longestlurkerever · 31/01/2020 10:40

Is glandular fever a possibility NC4?

Welcome back accidental.

Feeling pretty sombre today. Brexit and coronavirus. Great.

Good name Mme F! I know twins called Emmanuel and Constantine. Wish i could pull those kind of names off.

MadameF · 31/01/2020 10:43

Hi Everyone,
no it was another thread asking about French names for boys.
I was a little disorientated earlier as I found my poor cat run over.

MadameF · 31/01/2020 10:47

Keep meaning to post here but no time as I need to do a long post to catch up, so sorry! Have been reading.

longestlurkerever · 31/01/2020 10:56

Oh dear Mme F, i am so sorry to hear about your cat. Flowers

Waterandlemonjuice · 31/01/2020 11:45

Madame, I’m so, so sorry about your cat. I know how upset dd and I were when ours died last year, poor kitty 😰

NC4, dd has just been prescribed iron tablets after taking a blood test, maybe he’s low on iron, might be worth asking the dr to do a blood test to check? It’s hard to say because I also know lot of teenagers who can sleep and sleep and sleep and there’s nothing wrong with them, they just need it. If he’s smoking weed (he may not be) that could be contributing to general lethargy / knackered ness.

Longest, I know, I am trying not to think about Brexit or Coronavirus, both very sad and depressing.

Frouby · 31/01/2020 13:24

Oh Madame am so sorry about your cat, that must have been a horrible shock. Flowers.

NC I would maybe get it checked out, just to set my mind at rest, especially if it's a recent thing. Anything like that I tend to give it a couple of weeks to resolve itself. Half term is coming up, why not see how he is over that then take it further if necessary.

Done some work and some housework, just debating between cleaning the kitchen cupboards or having a sandwich before school run. Am thinking sarnie probably a good idea cos I won't be dry tonight and could do with soaking up some food first. Got dds prom dress shop to do tomorrow so don't want to get too wankered 😂.

NC4Now · 31/01/2020 13:29

Oh Madame I’m so sorry about your cat. I would be heartbroken. It’s ridiculous the level of love I have for my two.

I think I’ll take him for a check up. It’s DS2 so I’m confident he isn’t smoking weed. DS1 is the one for that but DS2 is completely opposite (thank god! When I was on my own with them both as toddlers I used to count my blessings I got an easy second baby!)

DS1 used to sleep after school too so maybe it’s a family thing but I never kept him home for tiredness.

Dionysa · 31/01/2020 20:47

Huge amount going on, and none of it is good. Curing hangover with a G&T. Just seen your news, Madame, and am so very, very sorry to hear it.

Will try to catch up with everyone else.xx

MadameF · 31/01/2020 21:04

Hi again, so sorry for being absent. As far as AF is concerned, not doing brilliantly, just Monday nights, then in the week one or two glasses of wine, more at the weekend.
Cat was one of the kittens if you remember, the one who dislocated his leg and we spent 300€ on the operation, he was doing fine...but I saw him on the other side of the (not busy) road hunting in the field and thought that's not good, and sure enough he was hit by a car, probably going too fast. The car not the cat.
DM in hospital, she is 82 and has no platelets due to an autoimmune illness. She seems to have one illness after the other at the moment.
Brexit is tonight.
So not really a great day!
Dion I hope you are OK
Longest if you make the move up north, do it sooner rather than later for your DDs. I never regretted moving to France, or at least not until now with Brexit.
NC4 I've lost so many cats to either poison, cars or just disappearing it is depressing.
Water Frouby enjoy your non AF weekends.
