New thread for the New Year.

Support thread for those who want to moderate and reduce alcohol. Absolutely no judgement, just advice and support. Absolutely everyone is welcome whatever your goals or hopes for 2019.

Am no good at clicky linke but there are previous threads and we look forward to continuing to moderate and reduce in 2019.

Especially today. 14 coming for 3 courses at 3pm and I have a raging hangover to start the year. Fml.

Oh god, that’s really frustrating. Do you think it will settle in a few months?
I’m dreading UC rolling out in my area. I’m already bricking it that I could be being overpaid tax credits, even though I’ve told them everything as soon as it’s changed.
It’s a huge headache.

Frogletmamma · 09/01/2019 06:57

Day 2. Very shaky. Insomnia. Worth it though

Frouby · 09/01/2019 07:15

zoflora have a look at matched betting to earn some extra cash. There is easy money to be made in the short term, and a steady income to make if you put the hours in.

It looks complicated to start with but it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. I know people who do it full time who make a very good living. I do it instead of a part time job and earn a lot more than I would working. I do between 20-30 hours a week and earn anything from £200-£1000. A week. I have been doing it nearly a year, it takes a while to build up a bank to work with and to increase your skills but it's definitely worth doing.

flossie you should look at it too, you can still be at home for dd but earning as well.

I’ve been thinking exactly the same thing froubie and I’ve been posting on a newbies thread. How much do you need to put up front to cover the lay betting?

Zofloramummy · 09/01/2019 07:37

And do you use OddsMonkey or another site?

Frouby · 09/01/2019 07:50

I use profit accumulator, not much difference between the 2 I don't think. Join a couple of mb fb groups as well, they tend to post offers quicker than the forums.

Do the sign up offers first, I think profit accumulator walks you through the first 3 offers free. There are guides in there about a starting pot, but £100 is a good starting point. It takes a few offers to get the feel of it and £100 is enough for the first 3 which should give you enough in your pot to do the rest of the sign ups.

I mainly do casino these days because I have a decent bank, but spent quite a bit in December so going back to matched betting a bit to build my bank again.

Frouby · 09/01/2019 07:52

And you need a separate bank account, away from any borrowing you have. I use yorkshire bank for MB stuff, if you don't already have a current account with them they are fab. Avoid any bank groups as well that you have borrowing with. So I have our main current ac with halifax and we have an overdraft with them so I won't use the Lloyds account I opened for mb purposes.

Zofloramummy · 09/01/2019 07:58

I don’t have any borrowing with my bank, but I do have 2 current accounts, a main one for salary and another for daily spending. Helps me budget better. I could open a third with another bank though and that’s probably a good idea. Does profit accumulator charge a monthly fee?

Frouby · 09/01/2019 08:12

Yes PA is £17 a month. Definitely open a separate bank account, you will get mixed up if not and it's nice to see the balance increase. I did my yorkshire bank online, a B account.

There is a about £350 profit to make easily just off 5 or 6 bookie accounts. Then probably about another £400 from smaller bookies. There is a regular income to make from bet clubs (bet so much each week and get a free bet each week) then once you have done all the bookie offers there is no or low risk casino offers (free spins) bingo sign ups and other bookies stuff.

Its a good way to earn a bit extra and as long as you keep working at it, no reason why you can't earn a decent amount. The bigger your bank is the more you can earn. Stay away from casino stuff until you have a decent bank though. Its a numbers game with casinos and you need the bank to absorb any losses.

OP posts:
Frouby · 09/01/2019 08:14

You will need something like PA to start with, the video guides are brilliant but do the free offers first then decide if you will continue with it before you sign up. There are sometimes new member incentives if I introduce you, will have a look later.

Frouby - I am intrigued with this matches betting. I’ve never heard of it but looking to earn some extra cash working from home.

FiveShelties · 09/01/2019 08:59

May I slither back in please? I am trying to reduce my alcohol consumption this year, after doing my best to support the local economy here all last year. I have so far this year had 5 days without alcohol and am pretty pleased with that.

I was in the first thread but disappeared under a mountain of wine bottles😀 and hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.

Frouby · 09/01/2019 09:21

Welcome back Five, come and have a seat love. We've all watched this thread while supping wine thinking I should really join back in, tomorrow tho 😂😂.

Canshop loads of info online, and there are threads in here too. Best advice I can give is just crack on and do it, follow the guides step by step and get your first bet done. Its basically turning welcome offers from bookies and casinos into cash without risking your own money by gambling. My cousin is in her 4th year, this will be my 2nd (I started feb 18). My biggest regret is not listening to her and starting it a couple of yeara ago.

Just been on scales. Lost 1lb so far. Apart from cutting out chocolate and beer not done anything else and that's only since Sunday.

Maybe I need to give it longer than 3 days though Grin.

Can i join in? Day 15 here - not being virtuous, only managed due to flu and then Noro day after Boxing Day and I just kept going. One thing keeping me going is that I was scratching round trying to pay for my daughters swimming and gymnastics for this term and I realised that what I spend on booze in a week would pay for a terms lessons. Made me feel soo selfish as I always seem to find the money for wine.

Canshopwillshop · 09/01/2019 11:47

Thanks Frouby I’ll check it out. Well done on 1lb off.

Canshopwillshop · 09/01/2019 11:51

Hi Molly’s Mummy and welcome. Well done on day 15 even if you had a ‘helping hand’ being poorly - it’s still great.

Dionysa · 09/01/2019 12:36

Welcome back, Shelties!

Frouby, I'm v interested in this matched betting thing. I think I'm going to try to find threads on here, because I am thick and don't understand it. Do I need to know anything about sport? I can name two football teams, I think, and one racehorse (Red Rum - wonder why that one Grin).

Zoflora, I'm sorry you're having such a horrible time. I have no useful advice, beyond trying to keep your house if there's any possible way to do so - though I realise that isn't always possible. Flowers If you can stay AF, even for one night, with all that going on, you are a better woman than I am.

Molly, Day 15 is good, however you've done it. I absolutely sympathise with you and scratching around for money for things you 'should' be paying for, while somehow finding the money for booze. This is yet another reason why I need to cut back dramatically. I could pay my DC's allowances with the amount I spend on wine...

Froglet, congrats on Day 2. Day 2 here. I slept well last night due to having been awake with Beer Fear for most of the previous night. I am not looking forward to this evening.

Flossie, 3/4 bottle is better than a whole one!!! You are presumably saving the last 1/4 for Swampy Grin Grin.

waterandlemonjuice · 09/01/2019 12:46

Hello all, welcome new people! mollysmummy I did 44 days af after food poisoning in the summer but slipped waaaaay back!

Today is day 8 AF so I’m pleased with that

Zoflora, I agree that you should try to keep your house if at all possible 💐

NC4Now · 09/01/2019 13:59

I thought I'd be richer when I quit the fags. I'm not. I just buy more wine.

Why can't I be addicted to something good, like exercise, or sex?

Frouby · 09/01/2019 14:05

dion you don't need to know anything about sports or gambling. It's perhaps better if you don't. You need a laptop or smartphone or a tablet. It's easier if you have 2 devices. Any 2, it doesn't matter which but you can do it from 1.

Have a look on Profit Accumulator, it explains the basics and talks you through how to do it.

I went to supermarket earlier for essentials. I’m still carless so I walked from work. I went down the wine aisle and actually picked a bottle up because I’d got my fuck this button pushed.
But then I thought 9 days! It’s been years since I’ve done 9 days. So I put it back a treated myself to pukka tea selection box Grin

Dionysa · 09/01/2019 17:56

That's brilliant, Zoflora.

I'm afraid I have given in, for various pathetic reasons. So it will be Day One yet again tomorrow. FML.

NC4Now · 09/01/2019 18:02

Well done Zoflora.
I’ve treated myself to some Nytol. The proper ones, not the herbal ones. The pharmacist said they might interact with my anti-d’s and make me even sleepier. I really hope so. I’m running on empty.
Day 2 here. No desire to drink. Just sleep.

Zofloramummy · 09/01/2019 18:04

I’ve been taking nytol and drinking camomile tea to help and I have been sleeping ok (once I actually get to sleep!). Not waking in the early hours feeling shitty and sweating buckets so that’s good.

It’s such a seductive trap frouby just one drink and it’ll help with the stress and it’s a trap I’ve fallen into many many times.
