What little things make you smile when you see them out and about?

I love to see these little things when I’m driving around:

Someone waiting at the bus stop/to cross a road wearing headphones/earbuds and they’re having a dance and really getting into it 🕺💃

Dogs that are so happy to be out on a walk that they are bouncing and jiggling from side to side with their little tails waggling 🐕

Toddlers who see something fascinating and their parent just stops and looks with them 👀

Groups of teenagers who are just chilling out together and genuinely laughing with each other 😊

People litter picking because they care about their environment 🚮

The first budding flowers in the spring 🌺

I was watching a large group of women swimming in the sea recently and they were all sort of just bobbing about in the water and chatting to each other in little groups. I almost cried as there was something so beautiful and natural about it. You could hear the laughter from ages away and it looked like they were all having the time of their lives.

People laughing together. Genuinely howling like my best friend and I do. When I see other young people being so attentive to their elders like my two are with me.

When my DBoyCat claps his front paws together to try and catch butterflies or bugs.

I like it in London when I see a trio of kids in school uniform (teenage boys always seem to hang out in threes for some reason) and they are of three different ethnicities.

Freight trains! Just the sight of a massive amount of cargo being carried in one go. I’ve also seen the huge ships at Felixstowe; which also has its robotics for loading and unloading the ships. Best of all is the train which is full of new cars, which passes through London a few times each week.

Have lived in my house for over a decade and I still am not bored of seeing the big ships from my bedroom window!

People in their front gardens.
Teenagers chatting with their parents or grandparents
Siblings giggling

This thread is just the best.
When I was growing up in SE I used to hear the church bells ringing at around 6pm on a Sunday summers evening and I always used to feel so happy and warm inside. It was a specific ringing though. Like this

A guide dog in training at a church service. How delighted a toddler was when she spotted him and went over to say hello.

My singing bus driver who stops in the middle of nowhere to pick up random OAPs and students. Seeing a couple in their sixties roller skating along the seafront hand in hand. I know it's corny but Autumn.

@Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride I love conkers too, no one picks them up round here even outside school, they are literally all over the pavements. I love the fact that they are so robust and solid and shiny, like the most exquisitely turned wood, and yet they just happen like that.

Same things as you x but will add die to where I live … I love seeing the foals, & calves in spring. I love doing an evening dog walk and seeing a huge herd of deer ♥️
Also love seeing children pushing their ‘babies’ in a pram. Not something seen often anymore.

There’s a big daycare (nursery) near my house and when the kids go out and about they all hold on to a kind of a rope with loops on it. Usually about 8 kids and 2 caregivers.

My son calls them the chain gang and they’re really cute! One day I was driving near the end of my street when they were crossing and one of them put his hand up in a stop sign 🤣 like I was going to run them over! I love seeing them!

What a lovely thread ❤️ I am struggling a lot tonight and this has been a joy to read.

Anything to do with nature or animals makes me smile. I love looking up at a huge old tree and marveling at how incredible it is. I love watching the birds in the garden. I love watching my cats go about their day each with their own little personalities and quirks. A clear starry night makes me pause in awe at creation. Children singing together makes me emotional.
