I love to see these little things when I’m driving around:

Someone waiting at the bus stop/to cross a road wearing headphones/earbuds and they’re having a dance and really getting into it 🕺💃

Dogs that are so happy to be out on a walk that they are bouncing and jiggling from side to side with their little tails waggling 🐕

Toddlers who see something fascinating and their parent just stops and looks with them 👀

Groups of teenagers who are just chilling out together and genuinely laughing with each other 😊

People litter picking because they care about their environment 🚮

The first budding flowers in the spring 🌺

Horseshoes next to front doors
Palm trees in front gardens
People selling eggs/apples with an honesty box
Pre school trips where they all walk along in high vis vests holding hands - just so cute!
Elderly people sat on benches just happily watching the world go by, and you can see it’s taking them back to when they did the school run/worked

When babies or toddlers pass each other in prams and wave at each other solemnly.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 02/10/2026 19:26

Pigeons hitching a lift on the tube.

These have been mentioned but I love the crocheted postbox toppers.

I was out for a dog walk in the country and stopped on a railway bridge. A train came towards me and I waved. The driver sounded the horn, and I was thrilled!

What a lovely thread. Thank you.

On the Underground waiting for a train. Walk to just behind the yellow line and look for mice on the tracks .
They are teeny , dark grey , scuttle about then scarper when the train approaches .

Seeing the crow that likes to tap aerials or rub its beak across them to make a twangy "doy-ng' sound

AmnesiacDream · 02/10/2026 21:06

Many things already mentioned. Also people with crazy hair, or out there colourful clothing.

pulpJarvis · 02/10/2026 21:56

Toddlers in cute waterproof clothing, yellow wellies or coats.

watching my little dog with a huge stick and being proud of her.

Dogs taking their owners for a walk!😂

I love seeing little kids pushing them tiny trolleys around supermarkets. They look so happy. Giggle a bit too that they are stressing their parents out too. I got older kids but know they wld have loved them. Also when little ones press the pelican crossing button. They look so happy.

Honesty egg/ honey boxes outside of people’s homes

book exchange boxes at local points

little kids running on the pavement

boys in their sports kits and bags going home, or waiting for pick up at sports grounds (I don’t see many girls like this)

gardens with lovely flower arrangements

local train stations / libraries with hanging flowers

Going home via the tube on a Friday, and seeing and smelling all the perfumed people setting off for their Friday evening events.

I see this most days when I'm driving passed, but it makes me smile every single day. Especially when people sit next to him with their arms around him.🤩

When a stranger offers to help an elderly or infirm person whose bags just fell over and spilled out.

The first snowdrops and crocuses (crocii?) of the year.
Football supporters on their way to to the stadium near me, even if they aren't my own team.
Pregnant women, even though I am CFBC.
Ancient cars.
Good old fashioned skinheads, punks, goths etc.

Oh, yes. Vintage and classic cars, especially convertibles on a sunny day, when you can tell they're the owners' pride and joy and beautifully maintained.

book nooks (in streets etc to share books)

Gingerkittykat · 03/10/2026 00:09

Hopalong, who is a crow we feed regularly. He had a bad leg injury a couple of years ago, and we weren't sure if he would survive, but it healed and he just hops on the other leg now. I see him in the garden most days, but love it when I see him around the village.

The adorable toddler in the Dr. surgery who was not glued to a tablet and was climbing on the chairs and taking toys and books to her mum.

Cats, especially if they are friendly and let me pet them.

Aw that’s just adorable!!

Anyone else many yearsago when I lived in London remember the mad jolly chatty driver on the Victoria line- — it used to make my day when he was on my train in a morning or evening -

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 02/10/2026 18:07

A row of rain-wet terraced roofs with the sun shining on them, going down a hill.

A sudden whiff of gravy from a house at dinner time.

The roar of the crowd in a football stadium, carried over the city on the wind, on a Saturday afternoon.

I live in Bath and Bath rugbys ground is bang central - so whilst the crowds are a bit nuts- I do love seeing all famailies out in their Dyson tops and the huge roars in the city whilst I’m out pottering !!!

Crikeyalmighty · 03/10/2026 00:41

When we lived in Copenhagen in a pretty nice leafy area I was driven insanely happy by the amount of butterflies, caterpillars, bees and snails/slugszwe used to get around our drive/garden - It made me realise how little of this we have in many parts of the UK on a regular basis

FastAnt · 03/10/2026 00:43

I love when people do funny or silly stuff like writing an ‘ I ‘ in the middle of. TO LET so it says toilet 🤪

FastAnt · 03/10/2026 00:46

I second (third fourth etc) the groups of teenage girls. I LOVE seeing womanhood, I love seeing women being women and just giggling and knowing the connection we have. Also love seeing groups of young women on evenings out in toilets giggling gossiping sharing make up in toilets / bathrooms. Reminds me of being young myself and carefree.

FastAnt · 03/10/2026 00:48

Oh and seeing the knitted toppers on letter boxes
