I am in shock so excuse the muddled thoughts
i knew something was wrong as I hadn’t heard from my friend today. We text every day. I last heard from her at 5 o clock yesterday. No messages were delivering to her phone and her facebook account had gone. I messaged her pet sitter who said my friend had called her last night and asked her to had the pets unexpectedly.

at 3pm she rang to say she had been arrested at home last night and taken to a police station where she spent the night in custody

it’s insane it’s like a bad dream she wouldn’t do anything wrong she is a professional woman with an upstanding job

i was in shock I couldn’t speak her solicitor was driving her home

she was crying and couldn’t/wouldnt tell me what it was

shes with another friend now who lives closer who said she’s asleep

what on earth has happened I don’t understand why she would be arrested at home??

posting under an old username

Could be a number of reasons. No one on here will be able to tell you OP. I think you will just have to wait until she contacts you.

notamumyetbutoneday · 30/09/2026 18:46

You’re right of course. Im just in shock.

You really don’t understand why she might be arrested at home? I imagine that she is suspected of committing a crime.

Favouritefruits · 30/09/2026 18:52

What a shock, hopefully it was just a misunderstanding or to help with enquiries. Try not to panic yet.

Sidebeforeself · 30/09/2026 18:54

Well where else would you want them to arrest her? Professionals do commit crimes too you know. Don’t speculate until you get chance to find out the facts. And be careful what you post on here.

Merrybandofpirates · 30/09/2026 19:02

She has been accused of or caught doing something and there was enough evidence for a warrant to be issued and police dispatched to arrest her in the most likely place she would be - her home. She wasn't invited in for an interview; she was arrested which makes it more likely that she has done something and they can show it. But you won't know until you speak to her. It could be anything and she could have been cautioned already or charged and bailed, or let go while they continue to investigate. You need to speak to your friend but maybe also need to accept that she has done something.

WhatNoRaisins · 30/09/2026 19:03

It sounds like this has been a massive shock. I don't think it would be helpful for anyone here to speculate. It sounds like she's at least doing the right things by engaging a solicitor and staying with a friend. Hopefully you'll at least find out what's going on very soon.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 30/09/2026 19:15

You’d be surprised what people will do if they’re tempted, desperate etc. Someone very upstanding who I worked with a few years ago went to prison for a major fraud on the organisation - her life had gone a bit wrong and the temptation of quite a lot of money turned up. Same for someone I helped recruit a couple of jobs ago - turned out she had multiple convictions for fraud against other employers, we never found out until someone recognised her from another department. She was great - you wouldn’t pick her out as a fraudster.

if she is a professional woman with an upstanding job I’ll go for some sort of work related fraud.

Probably for something she posted online. We don't have freedom of speech in the UK.

ShitFacedShakespeare · 30/09/2026 19:22

Bit odd that she quickly deleted her FB account.

And to inform you (which she didn't have to) she had been arrested at home last night and taken to a police station where she spent the night in custody.

I mean if she's not prepared to tell you why, why not just make up some shit about her phone playing up or something.

We can all speculate but until your friend contacts you, then you're not going to know. Even professional, upstanding members of society can get themselves into criminal activities.

It could be anything: fraud, money laundering, theft, stalking...this list can go on and on.

This is genuinely something I’d be concerned about

Yes, she might have done something awful, but this is also a possibility.

@notamumyetbutoneday if it is something like this, then I’m sure you’ll hear from her sooner rather than later. Hopefully she is a member of the FSU.

EmpressStorm · 30/09/2026 19:41

Well yes, she could be an online troll, she could be a thief, she could be anything. I really don’t get why anyone would try to guess.

Supersimkin7 · 30/09/2026 19:59

It’s not the end of the world! The police may have got the wrong person (it happens) or it’s not that serious. Has she been charged?

You can’t incite violence or cause a trial to collapse. Which of those things are you keen to to do?

JLou08 · 30/09/2026 20:14

What's her profession? It could have something to do with work.

She's obviously been accused of a nefarious activity.

Minasama · 30/09/2026 20:43

How upsetting OP. Hope she and you are doing ok.

JustGoogleIt15 · 01/10/2026 10:41
