Is this eBay seller pricing these vintage shoes unrealistically?

This eBay seller is having a laugh, surely?

I wouldn't buy them for £8.50 let alone £608.50 but hey if she's chancing her arm good for her. She's got 100% ratings. People pay silly money for stuff I would give to the charity shop but there you go, we're all different. Plus many people who do bulk uploading can make errors in their pricing - only takes the slip of a finger.

TittyGajillions · Yesterday 13:55

They look absolutely manky inside, so I doubt she'll be beating people off with a stick, but she's free to try to sell them for whatever amount she wants.

Yes. That’s a ridiculous price. Also how can she be selling vintage and not know the age of these (80s).

Silverbirchleaf · Yesterday 13:58

How did you find this? £600! Seriously.

Viviennemary · Yesterday 13:59

They look around early 1970's to me. A lot of things on Ebay are ridiculously priced.

Matzochist · Yesterday 13:59

Could it be a typo, I wonder? E.g. she was going to put £6.00, tried to change it to £8.50 and ended up with a mishmash of the two?

Either that or she's going for the 'wealthy fetishist into 90s fashion' market!

CruCru · Yesterday 14:02

God, I remember Dolcis.

No they are violently 80s

Ooh, I’d say much later, around the same era as shellsuits! 😆

They look 80s to me. I remember the shoe chain Dolcis from then.

I don’t think so. I checked her other listings and some things are equally as expensive.

EnjoythemoneyJane · Yesterday 14:36

They’re 80s and Dolcis was a cheap high street chain. Even given the rarity value they’re absolutely buggered! Good luck to her though. I’d have kept a lot more of my knackered old crap cherished vintage pieces if I thought I could make that kind of bank off them 😂

Her other items have sold for under a tenner so this price does seem an unusual anomaly.

She is probably wondering why her shoes have had 300+ views today but no sale.

nomas · Yesterday 14:41

Meanwhile the seller of the infamous 12 days of Christmas centrepiece has upped the price from £699 to £999.

Bjorkdidit · Yesterday 14:58

Description of that is even weirder than the item.

Are these 'special interest' listings where what they're really selling is disguised, word search style, in the description?

436 views now 🤣

Oh, now this is one of the very best things I’ve seen in a while 😂

I would bloody love to have been at the described dinner party. In this instance £999 is a positive bargain for a Quality Street tin covered in plaster of Paris & ‘hard to source’ plastic figures. As she says, it cost more than that to make, so it’s probably a canny investment.

Biscuitsforbreakfastt · Yesterday 15:12

My mum had these in the 80s. They were hideous then too.

Highlighta · Yesterday 15:12

What has the seller put in the shoe in photo 8?

And why?

I thought it was a hairpiece at first 😂

Nothing like trying eh. It even has one like.

Theunamedcat · Yesterday 15:14

I once saw my old pj top being sold as vintage for almost fifty quid it was a crusty la senza winnie the pooh pj top no bottoms sold as a vintage shirt

What a load of tat! Just ghastly 😑

SerendipityCat · Yesterday 15:16

Good lord, they're awful. Couple of quid in a charity shop, perhaps? At £600+, not a snowball in hell's chance!
Back in the early days of eBay when I actually gave a hoot or two, I used to occasionally query prices with sellers if I thought they were, shall we say, verging on the unrealistic. I soon learned to wind my neck in after a couple of worryingly unhinged and downright abusive replies.
It's definitely best just to shake your head and move on.

Haha, perhaps one of the ebayers was my mother in law . Who insisted that her candelabra with half burnt melted candles still stuck in it was definitely worth £40, and would not back down even one pound less at the car boot.

It was from somewhere like Woolworths or similar, but she held on to that notion of retained value with both hands whenever someone said she was insane 😅

At least I wouldn't have to pay postage, she lives around the corner from me, it has been revealed! They're absolutely mucky too.
