Is this eBay seller pricing these vintage shoes unrealistically?

This eBay seller is having a laugh, surely?

Her other items have sold for under a tenner so this price does seem an unusual anomaly.

She is probably wondering why her shoes have had 300+ views today but no sale.

I was certain it was an error. But the rest of her "true vintage" items are listed at ridiculous prices too - look at this monstrosity! Apparently all owned by a relative with a "passion for fashion" ...?!!!!

They're all 80s - & the shittier end of 80s fashion too! I remember Dolcis ... & as for this cardigan at £600, it's a cheap brand that was tacky then & still is IMO. The kind of thing that might have been worn by Dollar or Bucks Fizz on a day off ...

Oh, now this is one of the very best things I’ve seen in a while 😂

I would bloody love to have been at the described dinner party. In this instance £999 is a positive bargain for a Quality Street tin covered in plaster of Paris & ‘hard to source’ plastic figures. As she says, it cost more than that to make, so it’s probably a canny investment.

It must be very sturdy, she's been trying to flog it for years!

I love that she had to clarify that she isn't providing the 12 days of Christmas dinner as part of the sale, she is just sharing her menu.

Yes, it looks like deliberate pricing strategy. Maybe she thinks a 1980s Lothario will be overcome with lust at the sight of her tootsie holders.

'Not another pair in the country'. Beg to differ, we have those exact ones for sale in the charity shop I work in at the moment.

God, I remember Dolcis.

Yip and they didn't sell £600 shoes even allowing for inflation since the 80s.

Wednesdaysotherchild · Yesterday 15:52

”SWAN HUNTING IS HARD WORK” 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

BunnyLake · Yesterday 15:59

I’ve seen other mediocre things on eBay at silly prices, I’m not sure what that’s all about?

Dolcis were just a high street brand, so why this ugly, manky pair of high street shoes are priced so high is anyone’s guess.

wontsomeonethinkofthechimdren · Yesterday 16:12

Maybe they think someone will buy them by accident or something.

BobbiBiscuits · Yesterday 16:34

You the seller then, I take it?

SeedsOfReason · Yesterday 16:37

Are you sure she isn't aiming at the 'worn shoes' (i.e. kink) market - which tends to go along the lines of, the mankier and grubbier the shoes, the higher the price?

No they are violently 80s

😂 I saw some classic Louboutins priced at over £200.
Off I popped to Vinted and saw them at £89. Same Seller, same pics.
I haggled shamelessly - as expected - and bagged a bargain somewhere around 60ish.

Reader, i married them 😍

Money laundering?

listitorchuckit · Yesterday 17:05

The seller will be getting their hopes up as the listing has now been viewed over 1200 times today ! Just 2 watchers though.

Hapidary · Yesterday 17:41

Good lord, Dolcis!

They were never very good in the first place...

omghereistrouble · Yesterday 17:50

just had a look at the rest of her listings none of them i would give house room too

Sunshineandoranges · Yesterday 19:28

Some people use ebay for money laundering apparently. I think that applies to items from USA with postage costing hundreds. These items sell. The shoe lady though probably just got her listing wrong.

BatteriesNotIncluded76 · Yesterday 19:57

I remember my nan having these.

LondonLass2026 · Yesterday 20:11

Are we sure these are not, ahem, "well worn"? (if you know, you know). Those can go for a lot. Albeit not £600!

Meanwhile the seller of the infamous 12 days of Christmas centrepiece has upped the price from £699 to £999.

Seen this a few times on here but never read the description...there's a menu included for the meal she made, showcasing the centrepiece Grin
