Is this eBay seller pricing these vintage shoes unrealistically?

This eBay seller is having a laugh, surely?

😂 I saw some classic Louboutins priced at over £200.
Off I popped to Vinted and saw them at £89. Same Seller, same pics.
I haggled shamelessly - as expected - and bagged a bargain somewhere around 60ish.

Reader, i married them 😍

Ooh am jealous I'm going to have a look

@MeMeMeMeOw
They were fugly footwear in the eighties and time hasn't improved them....

Meanwhile the seller of the infamous 12 days of Christmas centrepiece has upped the price from £699 to £999.

I’m so glad he has done this. It means that it has gone from unsellable to never in a million years would anyone go within a distance of one hundred miles of it and it gives us a lot of mileage for years to come.

As for the shoes, definitely eighties. Dolcis was my favourite shoe shop in the eighties. I was a student and they sold fashionable shoes at affordable prices.

Is she clearing out a dead relatives wardrobe?

CherryKerry · Today 01:37

Sure I've seen them on Charity Shop Shit in last couple of months.

Her other items have sold for under a tenner so this price does seem an unusual anomaly.

She is probably wondering why her shoes have had 300+ views today but no sale.

All the views are from MN!

3109 views today 😂

Yes. That’s a ridiculous price. Also how can she be selling vintage and not know the age of these (80s).

I was about to say just this. They’re so obviously 80s!

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · Today 05:57

She has no obligation to sell and you have no obligation to buy. If you don't want them at the price she's willing to accept then you aren't the target buyer. If the minimum price she's willing to accept is actually still greater than the maximum anyone else is willing to pay then they are still worth that amount to her and she is the correct owner.

I sell ladies accessories on Ebay (although never shoes) and you would be surprised what items can fetch. My experience has been more like picking up some mis-categorized rare item for a few pounds and reselling it at a top auction room for a couple of grand. Shoes and trainers are a specialised collectible field and therein I do not venture.

I remember Dolcis and they are my size but look a bit grubby inside so will give them a miss

A bit grubby? They're absolutely grim inside!!

Who would put their clean feet in those baskets of mould? 🤢

AudHvamm · Today 07:56

Yes. I think my mum had these! Wish I hadn't trashed the Russell and Bromley pair she gave me, had no idea they'd be worth so much one day 😂

Soontobe60 · Today 08:13

Oops sorry for the massive link 🤣

What a load of tat! Just ghastly 😑

Hahah I was thinking of this too!!

Busybeemumm · Today 08:19

The insides of those shoes😷

I was certain it was an error. But the rest of her "true vintage" items are listed at ridiculous prices too - look at this monstrosity! Apparently all owned by a relative with a "passion for fashion" ...?!!!!

They're all 80s - & the shittier end of 80s fashion too! I remember Dolcis ... & as for this cardigan at £600, it's a cheap brand that was tacky then & still is IMO. The kind of thing that might have been worn by Dollar or Bucks Fizz on a day off ...

Omg the recommendation that the bird detailing could be "just scraped away" as it's coming off. And that the jacket is so gorgeous and she would keep it herself but she doesn't have "time to restore it to its former glory". As if that's an appropriate price for an item that isn't an absolute cult item in pristine condition from a top designer brand. The mind truly boggles.

DriveMeCrazy1974 · Today 08:54

As I always say on the rare occasions somebody queries my price on eBay, if you don't want to pay it, move on. I sell something that needs testing before I list it, most sellers don't do that. I value my time and effort as well as the item I am selling. I wouldn't pay that much for any shoes, especially ones that come from a slightly better store than Freeman Hardy Willis (they were part of the same group, if I remember correctly from my time working for FHW in the 80s) but there is always somebody out there who might! Perhaps she's priced them so high because, by her own admission, she wishes they fitted her properly and doesn't really want to get rid of them!

UninitendedShark · Today 09:00

Very ‘Rita, Sue and Bob too’ chic

BillieWiper · Today 09:04

Dolcis! I remember loving them. Idk how it was pronounced, I said doll-siss.

I'd pay 20 quid for them as I actually like them!

EmpressStorm · Today 09:07

Well she’s sold 368 items, and everything currently is over priced, so she’s possibly finding some fools to pay

BrandiedAromatics · Today 09:09

They have been recently re-soled and heeled to prepare for sale - but the inner lining has deteriorated and will continue to peel off, which probable means they will come away from the sole - this happened with an old pair of my sandals. Oh well, over 4,000 interested enough to have a look!

SurferRona · Today 09:11

I reckon it’s most likely a bet or something for Charlie’s Birthday- see first item for sale.

I mean, those blouses are not worth the £99.50 asked. If they are claiming JSA and has to show they have employment, or looking for it,can this be used to say they have an online vintage shop so continue to qualify? Trying to think why do people need eBay shops but not to sell anything. Unless it is criminal, ofc. Wonder if AI could decode? I bet grok would tell you!!

Uricon2 · Today 09:24

Is anyone else who was an adult in the 80s thinking wistfully about how much they'd make if they'd preserved their bat winged, shoulderpadded wardrobe (and was actually able to sell it for such ridiculous prices)?
