A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Imagery from France looks shocking. News picking up on a man using a flame thrower at a woman’s face.

Honestly people are mad at thinking the EU is what it was, some kind of nostalgia. Fed up with all this violence from the left and / or terrorism.

I saw that. Burnham wanting to take us backwards - again. When is the progressive party going to be moving forwards. I supposed they would class Number 10 North as progression. All sizzle and no steak.

The French have had years of Paris riots and thought that doesn't affect them in the majority of France, cities only are dangerous. Now quiet peaceful areas are being set alight, kids roaming the streets. I blame TIK TOK etc which I'll say again must be banned. Other countries have done so.

I used to live in France. There is a lot more structural inequality and open racism in France than is present in the UK. I honestly don’t understand why people here think these countries are perfect idylls. They must all just be going to the Dordogne on holiday and missing the bleak council estates where the French put virtually all none white people. And if people want to look at colonialist behaviour - take a look at what the French did in Algeria and the Belgians in the Congo.

I think some will definitely be being stirred up by far left agitators. Some of the complaints sound a bit pathetic e.g. the state of the schools etc. but all this does translate into kids from poorer areas having very few life chances, if they don’t get the bacc etc. Here we tend to have some balancing factors like pupil premium to try to equalise state education. I bet there’s nothing like that in France.

Oikophobia pure and simple, and the British establishment are the best in the world at it.

George Orwell himself noted how much self loathing British intellectuals had with regards to their own nationality and people. It's no small wonder we are in the state we are in. If Britain was Troy, the Greeks wouldn't have had to even 'gift' us a horse, we would have just opened the gates right for them.

Love that particular analogy.

Yes they don’t know how lucky they are, they’d give it away.

No 'would' about it.

They are giving it away.

It makes me heartsick.

Which would be fine ordinarily, I am totally onboard with people getting the consequences they richly deserve. Only, this will affect every single one of us in the end.

Yes if the left had their way, western women would be brought down to the level of hostile cultures. All in the name of equality and diversity. The prospect of a LabLibdem coalition terrifies me. Anti Britishness would lead the way.

@CandidLurker
Reading that the 2 men arrested over alleged terror plot against Jews in Manchester entered the UK by small boat. One in 2020 and one in 2023. One was granted asylum and one has a live claim

Will it be possible to deport the one who was granted asylum?

Its difficult. His asylum status would need revoking, and if the home office has accepted that he is at risk of persecution in his home country, revocation is only likely if new information comes to light which shows he was lying or the situation in his home country changes. In all likelihood we are stuck with him.
