A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Because the lies we’re talking about are rubbish about child abuse, prostitutes, affairs, parentage, private corruption and so on.

If people want to call Badenoch a racist - laughable as that is - and some on MN are very keen on doing so, then it’s wrong and stupid but it’s a political or social judgment.

Of course some on the right spread lies about the private lives of Labour politicians. As well as the lies about Starmer there was a nasty one about Phillipson a while ago. But it’s much more a fringe activity than on the left. The right’s lies of that sort don’t get traction, thankfully. But the number of people who still go on about Baroness Owen and Johnson without a shred of evidence for it is astonishing.

I think that accusing Badenoch of being a racist would also be on par. Same as trying to call Polanski anti-Semitic. I can’t stand the bloke but it beggars belief to me. My point is that ALL those lies that can damage a persons character are a disgrace. I would rather someone accused me of using prostitutes than being racist or anti-Semitic personally, I don’t get why you seem to think that one is acceptable and another is not, it’s is all abhorrent and damaging.

What makes you think anyone on this thread wants or needs to engage with you? You're clearly only here to disrupt.

You are free to vote for Corbyn and his lovely party if you wish. There is another chat thread for left leaning posters which would be a better fit for your views.

I suspect we're getting name changers from the Labour fan club. They're all fired up after Burnham's speech.

How amazing were these passengers? A six year old little girl appears to have averted a disaster by a perfectly timed request to go to the toilet.

The passengers were so brave.

Nina Manes’s mother, Tali, raised the alarm after hearing shouting coming from the cockpit of the Boeing 737 as she accompanied her daughter to the lavatory on the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. As she alerted cabin crew, Manes saw the captain fall through the cockpit door with the co-pilot stabbing him.

Apologies everyone, for engaging with a bad-faith poster.

@Nuthatch26 I'm honestly in awe of everyone involved in averting an absolute catastrophe - the pilot, the passengers, and that remarkable little girl. Really incredible.

NancyThompson · Today 10:01

I've just seen an interview with pilot Smit Machchhar from his hospital bed, I'm absolutely delighted that he's well enough for that as his condition sounded pretty serious.

Thats good to hear. Thank goodness he managed to unlock the door. I hope he makes a full recovery, sounds like a dentist saved his life. I've read that they were 30 seconds away from crashing had the passengers not been able to intervene.

Same. It’s so emotional seeing the clips.

You're not here in good faith with the Polanski comment. Gaslighting isn't working.

CandidLurker · Today 10:12

The pilot’s courage and strength to fight back in that situation and manage to open the door is just amazing. Especially as he must have been taken by surprise.

I won’t read AI, thanks, it’s famously shit and makes stuff up and is extremely lazy, so you can keep that.

I actually used my own brain and did my own research and uncovered the things I believe. I don’t like acronym per se, as I said, I have no political affinity and haven’t since Caroline Lucas quit the Greens, but my own research is Which is why I believe what I am saying. I don’t believe that Corbyn was anti-Semitic, I think it was a dirty campaign. As I have said, he hasn’t done enough to deal with anti-dentist but I still think it’s sick. Whereas, the man we chose, Johnson, had a history of being racist and sexist in his own newspaper column and via his own speeches.

AI is ‘famously shit’.

Hmm, at least a trillion dollars of CAPEX would disagree with you.

I read that the pilot who saved the plane held the cockpit door open for helpers to come while being stabbed and with his arm “broken in two”. Thank god there are people with such courage and will.

Thank goodness the pilot opened the door. So brave and courageous.

I think I just said the same thing twice, I couldn’t think of better words for the whole thing, just too much!

I heard somewhere that the securing of the cock pit doors has been a worry after 9l/11 for this very reason as well.

Finally the media are putting some effort into this. We have serious issues ahead with diesel. The UK only has 42 days reserve which is much lower than other countries. We also have very few refineries left.

John Healey said "we have the stocks we need" of diesel and that trade discussions with the US were "continuous", as the prospect of an export ban looms.
I don't believe him.

US pressures Europe to release diesel reserves as Trump threatens export ban

President Donald Trump has threatened to ban diesel exports in a bid to ease prices in the US ahead of the November elections.

In the usually sleepy agricultural area of southern Italy where I have family, farmers now going all French and blockading roads to the airport to protest against the cost of deisel.
Meanwhile in France, someone sent me this summary:
More than 600 arrested.
85 police and gendarmes wounded.
356 schools hit.
Masked rioters have torched schools, doused teachers in petrol and forced staff to barricade themselves inside.
In Nantes, the entrance hall of Nelson Mandela High School was burned out.
In Marseille, staff at Victor Hugo High were doused with petrol during an arson attempt.
Youths in balaclavas battered a fire engine until it caught fire.
Then cheered.
A headteacher was hit by a mortar firework and taken to hospital.
Shocking footage shows a policewoman chased and attacked.
Aerosol cans were piled up and detonated on one of Europe’s longest shopping streets in Bordeaux.
Buses, trams and metros have been shut in Marseille, Strasbourg and Grenoble.
The riots came after the left-wing mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko, declared that “violence can be legitimate.”
Yeah we should rejoin the EU… not.

Burning schools will not improve the future of the French youth. Besides, most of these protests already happen within areas benefiting from massive welfare transfers. This has nothing to do with generational movements like the ones in India or Nepal. This is about mobilising "les banlieues" behind Mélenchon but will simply further galvanise Le Pen along the way, if it continues.

As usual, extremes work together. As usual, far left will be far right’s useful idiot. They never understand that such unrests push the silent majority towards the parties promising "order".
