When I realised that the day I was born is closer to the 1800’s than today.

When I was at work aged about 32(?) and was struggling with how to transfer stuff from old phone to new phone and the nice work experience chap offered to help. He did it in seconds and I said wow, thanks so much. He replied "no worries, I always have to do it for my mum when she gets a new phone".

Also when I went to the dentist and was horrified because the new dentist did not look old enough to be qualified. (She was, obviously.)

I was asked when I was 72!

Wowzers! You must have drunk from the fountain of youth!

When I recently fell over my adult children didn’t piss themselves laughing as usual. They were actually concerned.

Aaah when you didn’t “fall”, but you “had a fall” - important semantic difference that implies you’re vulnerable - all downhill from here 😂

BearSoFair · Yesterday 10:38

My moment was about 10 years ago, telling the work experience kids that using the keypad for the scanners was like texting on an old mobile. Complete blank faces and "I never saw a phone like this!"

Oh god, yes! I most definitely don’t have “falls”, I simply fall over. Honest! 🫣 Incidentally I did actually have an actual downhill tumble once, but that was when I was young still. Tbh it was an incredibly impressive trip and I swear it was all in slow motion, thank god camera phones weren’t around back then 😂
eta it was toward a big hole in the road, but luckily the barriers around it stopped me. An absolute Mr Bean farce 😄

So if you were born in 1962/3, you’re about midpoint between 1899 and 2026.

Yikes. Not far off for me.

That PowerPoint presentations are now referred to as 'decks' - its taken me months to realise thats what the younger members of my work team are referring to 😂

But that's an old term, you had slide decks for putting in your projector.

My great grand aunt was 99 when she died. I was 7 at the time and remember her very clearly, my children think it's incredible that I knew a Victorian.

No, I got a rules obsessed nurse!

One, before performing a procedure that involved injecting dye into the bladder through the urethra (this is relevant), asked my almost-80-year-old father.

She did at least look embarrassed about it.

I think Miles Jupp (ex of Balamory in the early 2000s) said he had one of these moments when some kids came up to him and said that Balamory was the favourite TV programme that Their Teachers used to watch when they were little

@EveryoneUsingOutro I hate the expression "had a fall" that does sound like an old person. Yeh, I just "stacked it" But even that is probably an outdated term for ending up on the floor as it is what my 39 and 40 year olds would have said in their skateboarding days. I wonder what young people say now when they are accidentally no longer upright.

CrowsInMyGarden · Yesterday 13:00

@EveryoneUsingOutro I just found a young person and asked them. They said "fell over" which was quite disappointing. Google says the modern term for falling over is "taking an L" Well, never heard that one.

She looks amazing ie I was amazed when I watched Bake Off and saw her because she's had so much work done her face is too smooth and a size bigger than it started out!!!

I'm so bored of seeing intelligent, attractive women mess up their faces in the pursuit of 'youth'.

I said the same to dd and it totally confused her

Same with 'pull the chain'

I explained that back in the day, loos had a chain that you pulled to flush

She thought I was taking the piss (pun intended) and rang her grandad (font of all knowledge in our house) and he confirmed it

She asked if I'd ever 'pulled the chain' and when I said 'yes' she just looked at me like I was the oldest person she'd ever met!
