I went to my dd's sixth form parents evening and thought the teacher was one of the sixth formers 😬.

I was discussing Britney Spears with my friend last week and her 10 year old daughter piped up 'Who's Britney Spears?'

On balance, it's probably better she doesn't know 😨😂

When I got offered a seat! When my kid asked me about toys in the olden days. When I was gobsmacked at how draconian school rules are now.

I can remember landline numbers from years ago. There’s a thread about mobiles and some schools banning teenagers from using brick phones off the premises going to or back from school. A poster said we managed fine without them before. It made me think of all the times a phone would have saved so much hassle and I wondered why people would want to deprive others of that convenience and safety net. I’m glad I didn’t have the constant scrutiny some have with phones and embarrassing moments are in memories, not online. I also remember not being under constant scrutiny and monitoring from my school.

That's ridiculous. I was born in 1979 and have full awareness of M&W.

Decades ago when I was in my mid 20s we referenced Elton John at work. The student placement had no clue who he was - i think it was less of age thing and more of a gap in popular culture knowledge.

My husband got asked if he wanted the OAP discount at the barbers ( he's 48 ! ). Then walking down the High Street a few minutes later got asked by two teenagers if they could "borrow his face" to rent a couple of ebikes because the rental system has a face recognition- age check on it.

Aaah. Sympathy. I remember her and was once in the West End when she was presenting something live in a cinema foyer. She was surprisingly short and orange. She might have been standing on a box.

A friend mentioned something about moving when she was 6 months old in 1997. She's not old enough to remember 9/11 and probably not quite old to remember 7/7

I remember a teacher at my school saying that she knew it was time to retire when a pupil told her their grandmother was taught by her.

oh yeah, when I was still at work (retired now) I met our "head of IT" and I had had a home computer before he was born

I work with families. I find it unsettling when some of the grandparents of the teenagers I support are younger than me!!!

Colleague didn’t know who Tina turner was when she died. Tbf I do think that was on him and I did shame him greatly. 🤷

When I managed a charity shop and a volunteer said we'd had a really, really old CD donated (bear in mind, this was about 11 or 12 yrs ago too, so a lot nearer to the time of that CD first coming out) I was expecting something like the Beatles or Stones.. nope.. it was that old lady, Sophie Ellis Bextor...

When I realised I'm now older than Dorian from Birds of a Feather, Noel Edmonds when he started presenting Noel's House Party, Jim Bowen when he started presenting Bullseye and Mr Belding, the principal from Saved by the Bell. I'm 44.

It didn't make me feel old, because I was a child..but my great aunt's very old mother lived with her, the old lady was about 100, and she told me (as a 70s child) she'd waved and seen Queen Victoria go past when SHE was a child

What's really making me feel old is reading comments here from 'old' people who are more than a decade younger than me!

Practice Nurse calling me "dear" in fact the whole sentence of " I expect you've forgotten dear" when I said that I had not been given some information made me feel ancient and patroninsed . She even spoke in that slow loud voice that some people use for old people who are assumed to be both daft and deaf.

A colleague turning 30, I knew her as a baby because I worked with her mum at the time 😳
Also meeting up with friends I’ve not seen for ages and finding out how old their children are now, that always make me feel old.

My husband had a carer and he asked us how
long we’d been together, when I told him (38 years) he said he wasn’t even born when we met!
