Helpful young shop assistant showing me gadgets to replace our aged CD player, asked me what I’d like her to play so I could judge the sound quality.

I just said the easiest and best-known band name that came to mind. She smiled cheerily and said “Ok, how do you spell ‘Abba’?”

Won’t happen to me. They don’t make these any more.

They don't make them either. It was from 1986. I don't remember what it was but he's the car person 😂

Going to a pensioners lunch and the booked entertainment sang buzzcocks and clash songs.

I can’t imagine my dps appreciating this kind of music ( in their 80s)

I have a PT who is young enough to be my daughter, in fact her mum is younger than me too.

A training course the other week where I was literally old enough to be everyone else's parent. Even the people doing the training!

When my kids told me they "did Live Aid in history". I was bloody well there!!!

That's a real teller isn't it! I have often find myself talking with my grandchildren about things we were there for, like telling one about her then 3 year old mother throwing her (expensive because we'd forgotten to pack one) woolly hat off a goon tower overlooking the Berlin Walll into no-man's land and her father sent her to get it with a young Russian soldier calling to us 'She can go and get it' with a big grin on his face and a huge weapon in his hand!
This week I have really felt my age, I remember watching the first 7 Up in 1964, we tend not to realise as we get older so do others.

The other week my daughter was remembering at work that in '99 when the full eclipse occurred she's just started working there and another manager said 'I was 2!

Was asked if I would like “senior discount” in a pharmacy. I’m in my 40s.

When I started doing paperwork and looked at birthdays and realized that I was already an adult when these other adults were born. Also the fact that there are grown ups walking around with names inspired by 90's celebrities.

I hired a guy and described him to my manager as someone very senior, older gentleman. Not quite retirement age yet but in the later years of his career.
Turned out he's 2 years younger than me.

I asked my friends daughter if she was courting . She didn't know what I was on about.

I used to do a lot of travelling for work. So I was staying in the sort of hotel that has a "greeter" - a member of staff who hangs around in reception welcoming people.
So I'm coming down for breakfast and he says to me "good morning young lady"
My first reaction was "how dare he call me "young lady, I'm a grown woman"?" ....
(bear in mind I was under 50 at the time)
.... followed by
"fuck, he thinks I'm old enough to be flattered by being called "young lady"!

My young-un colleagues at work looked at me like a had two heads when I said I used to have a fixed desk and could keep loads of stuff in my drawers at work. They’d only ever known hybrid work with wfh, laptops and hot desking.

So if you were born in 1962/3, you’re about midpoint between 1899 and 2026.

Yikes. Not far off for me.

1948, how do think it makes me feel!

My DH just had one. He heard an advert where they were proclaiming that the company had been founded in 1981 - to convey that they were well-established, and it threw him.
1981 doesn't feel like 'heritage' to me either 😂

Any conversation about how I started (Saturday job) work at 14 and when I left home used to write letters to my parents because phone calls were too expensive etc etc.

Me too. I remember those days. Neither of us had a telephone.

God you all sound young to me!

I went to a small community museum in the Surrey village of Shere. They had things on display there that I remembered from my childhood. Vacuum cleaners with the bag to collect the dust that you connected to a hook at the top of the handle. Mincing machines that you clamped to the edge of the kitchen table and turned the handle. A brace and bit for drilling holes.

Yep had all these!
