Its a shame your so narrow minded that 1% of the RNLIs work is to do with bringing people on small boats to shore safely. You would rather risk the lives of the other 99%. Including the many men and women who work and sail off our coastline.

Our children agree intrinsically worth any more than anyone else's children. Would I prefer my children to live in a slightly overpopulated country (there are many places that are more densely populated than we are), so that someone else's children is less likely to die from poverty related illness, or has a chance for an education that they couldn't get in their home country, absolutely. Because I'm a decent person.

That is what is asked of all seafaring folk in the first instance and usually suffices. As I said keep channel 16 and your ears open.

Yes, plenty of services exist to care for others. The RNLI are one of many. The bravery, commitment and selflessness of their crews is astounding.

Regarding Channel 16, so assistance to a mayday call cannot legally be refused unless there are legitimate safety concerns, under maritime law. But you think the RNLI can refuse to assist, when tasked by HM Coast Guard? How does that work then?

You’re deluded. Your children and grandchildren are going to be the minority in their own country, their own schools.
This country is currently a diabolical mess. Soon we’ll all be entitled to claim asylum in other countries. I just hope the right can unite and we get a reform or restore govt soon who will try their best to undo the mess and send the third world back.

They should be stopped on the French and Belgian coasts because that's what we are paying them millions for. The many Auditors videos clearly show the French authorities ignoring them; sometimes clearly helping them; the NGO's supplying them with life jackets and the destruction of documents.

When HM coastguard decides to call in the rnli in a flat calm, they're extracting the urine. I've family who've volunteered for the RNLI they are somewhat derogatory about today's coastguard in our area who are very busy in their top of the range 4 by 4s parked up on promenades instructing real sailors and rescue helicopters to do their bidding 😁

Well I could give you the itinerary of the legs of the round the world race we've done in a small boat but I'd have to dig out our logs which are very boring in the main.

Apologies, but this is an anonymous internet forum and your rather blasé attitude to the risks involved in crossing the channel in a dinghy suggested a lack of experience.

Perhaps you would have refused help from the RNLI or similar services had you got into trouble, given that racing is entirely unnecessary, but it does seem more sensible to accept help from people who are properly equipped and trained.

If these men are arriving to seek better women’s rights for their sisters and daughters (personally I feel this is probably not the top motivation, but just for the sake of argument ) wouldn’t it be better for them to campaign for better women’s rights in their own countries? As this would improve the lives of many more women?

You don't seem to have a very good grasp of the state of the world. Do you follow international news in the slightest? Or it's just what Twitter sends your way?
