I’m so sorry to hear this and so sorry for his family, including his grandad

I really do think that reins need to be reconsidered. I know they are old-fashioned and restrictive but I'd much rather see a child 'on a lead', as I have heard it described than one on a stretcher.

I get the sentiment behind what you’re saying but it’s so unhelpful. Bereaved parents have to cope. They don’t want to they are in living hell. They certainly aren’t ‘brave’ or ‘strong’ and all these other platitudes people say, they are just forced into a situation they have no choice but to live through

This little boy was in a playground though so it wouldn't have prevented anything since reins typically aren't used when a child is playing at the park.

Generally though, I agree and will never understand why people are against them.

There’s something I don’t understand here. The boy’s grandfather tried to run after him and fell. Several people caught that fall on their phones. Why would they stand around and film that instead of making sure the child was OK ? Apologies if I’ve misunderstood but why would you watch a potential tragedy unfold like this ?

Also I think most people who see a child running through a park won’t immediately think that the child will end up missing and dead, so they just mind their own business.

So so sad. Little children are so fascinated with water. Don’t understand why someone didn’t run after him even if the grandad couldn’t. What a tragedy.

I also can't fathom how no-one stopped the little boy if he ran off and it was in a public area, but I don't know enough about what happened.

As has been said though, what a horrible tragedy, and very sad indeed. My thoughts go out to the family, particularly the parents, and the grandparents ...
