Oh it’s just horrifying. So so sorry for the family, the grandad will never ever forgive himself

JenniferBooth · Today 18:01

So sorry to hear this. Poor poor little boy

Awful for the family yesterday to be told he wasn't in the pond giving them some hope

I was surprised how they ruled that out so quickly yesterday

I can't imagine that they were actually told he was definitely not in there but I imagine that is what they heard when he wasn't found there yesterday as they had to cling on to any hope.

Unimaginable.

HedgerowD · Today 18:02

Decoy ponds are man made, they were made to trap wildfowl. The one in question in 5 acres in size. That is over 20,000 metres squared. It's not the little duck ponds in the local park that some are imagining.

SharkPants · Today 18:02

Oh god, I've been thinking of this little boy all last night and today at work.
My own son, when he was 4, ran away on the way home from school, through the woods and straight down the road. He was so fast and despite my shouting, he did not stop and got all the way home, usually a five minute walk.
I was sprinting after him, he was so bloody fast. After that experience, I taught him how to walk sensibly, where to stop, how far he could go from me and when to hold my hand. We have, fortunately, never had an issue since. However, my son doesn't have autism and can hear perfectly well.
My parents look after him a lot and I know they wouldn't outrun him.
This poor little guy his poor parents and his grandad. I can't stop thinking about how he must feel. How on earth do they get through this?

Devastating news.

He may not have been in there yesterday though when the family were told - it would've been pitch dark overnight if there's no artificial lightning in the woodland/pond area, so increased likelihood of going in accidentally after dark.

Thebibleofdave · Today 18:04

Daily mail breaking news. Body of child has been recovered from pond😭

Emowoman90 · Today 18:04

I've been thinking of this little boy all day and it was truly not the news I hoping for, absolutely heartbreaking 💔

persephoneee · Today 18:05

There isn't (or shouldn't be) a person among us who is not heartbroken for the family. So out of respect for them now that the little child has been found deceased, I wouldn't mind and would welcome a closure of the thread.

I mean what else can one say now?

Toastietoastie · Today 18:05

So tragic, the outcome nobody wanted. His poor family, most of us can't begin to imagine. I hope his granda is being looked after and I hope he can find peace, this could happen to anyone and so easily.

Rip wee soul.

Middlemarch123 · Today 18:05

Oh bless his little heart, so sad.
There are no words.
Heartbreaking for his family, hope they get lots of support.

Mamaneedsgin · Today 18:05

This is just heartbreaking, the poor little boy. So incredibly sad for Noah's family and the community who helped to look for him.

ThisWiseRobin · Today 18:05

I just crying. It's how scared he must have been. Not able to hear anyone calling him. Poor little angel.

XelaM · Today 18:06

Nooooooo 😭

ifonly4 · Today 18:06

RIP Little Noah.

There was no way they had time to search that large area of water properly yesterday afternoon. I did think it sounded strange when they said they'd ruled it out.

Perhaps it was to keep people focused on the land search.

Yes I thought about this and ..it’s awful but they have to think things like:

If he’d fallen in then he would have died very quickly. But if he hadn’t and had wandered then he might still be alive so the search had to focus on those areas incase he was still alive to try and find him as fast as possible.

Rather than focus on the pond too early. That and as you say they need specialists to do that sort of search anyway.

I didn’t think they’d ruled it out as such just searched then moved to other areas.

Poor little soul I was so desperately hoping he would be alive but the longer it went on the less and less likely that was.

viques · Today 18:07

Such sad news. His poor parents, and his grandfather.

ArtieChoke · Today 18:08

the silence will be so very loud for this family, such a tragedy

no words

nomas · Today 18:09

Only hope now that his last moments were quick and he didn't suffer for a long time. I hope his family are well supported.

Just a reminder, living locally doesn't mean you "own" this tragedy and have free reign to insult people online.

Do you actually know the family or belong to the family? If not, you're just grief vulturing like many people here as well.

I don't think people are grief vulturing. In the 1950s, the housewives would be discussing this when they were outside cleaning the front steps or going to get groceries, or just chatting in groups, as they would do when all the mothers were at home and the children were in and out. And the men would be discussing it at a pub. Now people discuss it online. I think it's only the medium of discussion that's changed, not people.

I agree. This thread doesn’t need to stand. RIP little Noah. My 2 toddler girls are sat with me and it’s breaking my heart.

Yes, this was the conclusion I came to as well... they knew it was too late if he'd already gone in so focused on land areas.

It's just devastating, that poor family 😭 And what an awful job those divers have... searching for something they actually don't want to find 😞

Spaniels4Eva · Today 18:11

My heart aches for his family, simply the worst outcome. I hope they are being supported well.
