If you have a partner/DH, what’s the height difference?

I’m (cautiously) dipping my toe into OLD and as a bit of a titch (5:1), I am definitely attracted to ‘the taller the better’. I did once date someone who was 6:4 which presented a few logistical challenges but overall I loved it.

If you have a DP/DH, what’s your height difference? Does height matter to you?

I am 5’8” and my partner is 6’3”. Being quite tall for a woman I do like a man with height as it makes me feel small!

OldGreyBoots · 09/09/2026 10:34

I'm about 1.5 inches taller. Never dated anyone taller than me - I'm not a giant, just the way things worked out!

mindutopia · 09/09/2026 10:35

Height does matter to me because I’m tall. I’m 5’9 and Dh is 6’5. His height definitely isn’t the reason I was attracted to him initially, but it certainly helped. I would not date someone who wasn’t significantly taller than me, sorry!

I’m 5ft 2 and DH is 5ft 10. I wouldn’t want him any taller. I already feel like a short arse next to him

RaininSummer · 09/09/2026 10:55

12 inches

Walker1178 · 09/09/2026 11:17

I’m 5’3 and from the age of 15 all my partners were 6’2, it wasn’t a prerequisite, it just happened that way! Ex DP was extremely tall at almost 6’6 but then I did a complete U-turn and DP of 6 years is 5’6-7ish. If I’m honest I would have ruled him out based on his height but it was supposed to just be a summer fun thing that turned into so much more.

He is still taller than me and I love the way I can nestle my head onto his shoulder, we fit together perfectly and he absolutely makes me feel safe. There is also something quite sexy about being able to look right into each others eyes. At the start if I had the opportunity to scale him up I probably would have said yes but now I wouldn’t change a thing.

if you find someone that looks like they tick a lot of the right boxes don’t rule them out over height

Farkinhell · 09/09/2026 11:24

Our height difference is 1 foot 4 inches. I'm the smaller one. We're just used to it now, it's only when people comment on our 'amusing' height difference I remember it's a thing. He is useful for getting things out of the top kitchen cabinets, amongst other things.

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/09/2026 04:39

I'm 5 ft 2 inches and DH is 6 ft 4 inches. I never notice or think about it except for feeling slightly resentful that we can't have a smaller car. And if he's not there and I need to get the folding step out to reach something at the top of a cupboard.

Actually yes this is an issue. We both have to majorly rejig the position of the car seat and rear view when we drive each others cars!

HorseandHeron · 09/09/2026 11:29

10 inches. I'm 5'4", he's 6'2". Tbh I usually prefer shorter men and always dated shorter men before him. But he's so sweet and lovely - a gentle giant, so it didn't matter. Generally, though, I think similarity in height is a better physical match.

He’s about a foot taller, must be one of the biggest height differences on here? We do look ridiculous in photos 🙈

17 inches do I win

MidnightMeltdown · 09/09/2026 11:39

I’m 5ft5 and DP is about 5ft10

I really don’t get why so many women are keen to date super tall men if they aren’t tall themselves. I think it looks a bit strange (like Hayden Panettiere and her ex partner!). I absolutely hate feeling like a child when I’m talking to someone over 6ft.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 09/09/2026 12:02

5"4, "6"1 so 7 inches difference, which I love

coffeeagogo · 09/09/2026 12:32

3.5 inches
me 6’1
DH 6’4.5
I’m not that bothered about height - men are way more bothered by my height

whatareyoudoinginhereMax · 09/09/2026 12:45

I’m 5’3” and he’s 5’8” I’ve never really thought about height when it comes to dating tbh, but he’s probably the tallest I’ve been with

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 09/09/2026 12:59

I'm 5'11, he's 5'8.

He's the bestest man ever, and I thank all the women out there who rejected him so he was free for me to snap up!

Bringemout · 09/09/2026 12:59

8 or 9 inches taller, prefer taller but tbh it has presented a challenge sometimes….

HundredMilesAnHour · 09/09/2026 13:03

I’m 5’9 and he’s 5’8.

Previously I’ve dated taller men (up to 6’7) and I loved how feminine they made me feel as I feel like a huge beast as a 5’9 woman.

BUT…he is the most incredible man and is beyond perfect in every other way. We actually had a relationship many years ago when we were students and our height difference (or lack of) bothered us both then. We reconnected this year (after 20+ years lost contact) and neither of us care about the height thing anymore. Our connection is incredible and we are so happy together that it’s scary.

trixieinnewyork · 09/09/2026 18:17

Just imagine if this was a thread of men saying 'I couldn't ever date a woman over a size 12' or 'I'd never date someone who wore glasses' - they'd be shot down in flames.

Men's height seems to be one of the last 'physical characteristics' it's seen as perfectly acceptable to discriminate against. It drives me mad on behalf of my short DH and DS's - however they are all perfectly happy in their own skins and don't worry about it!

Maddy70 · 09/09/2026 18:30

My husband is a foot taller

Sleepdeprivedandcaffinated · 09/09/2026 18:36

A foot. I’m above average height and he’s remarkably tall!

I like his height but it wouldn’t have been a deal breaker. My dad is shorter than both my mum and me and very confident with it so it was normal for me growing up to see a taller woman and shorter man.

they do say that. over and over and over again on every platform going.

Littlebitpsycho · 09/09/2026 18:54

I always thought I had to be with someone taller, and couldn't possibly be attracted to someone shorter.

OH is 1 inch shorter than me and is amazing, funny, intelligent and I adore him. Can't believe if I'd continued to be so shallow I'd have missed out on him

wellstopdoingitthen · 09/09/2026 19:11

We’re both 5’6”

logstore · 09/09/2026 19:14

I’m 5/7, husband 6/2. Just right when I’m in heels

Hydrangeasallaround · 09/09/2026 19:19

17 inches! Do I win?? (not going to give details as it might be outing! 😃)
