If you have a partner/DH, what’s the height difference?

I’m (cautiously) dipping my toe into OLD and as a bit of a titch (5:1), I am definitely attracted to ‘the taller the better’. I did once date someone who was 6:4 which presented a few logistical challenges but overall I loved it.

If you have a DP/DH, what’s your height difference? Does height matter to you?

I’m 5’2 DH 6’1 bi to date me a guy 5’5 and all good!! Hence why I love being a short arse.

I am 5ft 9, my husband is 5ft 7.

I used to look for men taller than me on the dating sites too. None of the dates went any further than hook ups and I met a lot of tall men I had no attraction for in person. It was quite a slog tbh.

Then I met my husband in person through a hobby and the attraction was immediate and electric and we would talk for hours from the first night. He had soulful brown eyes and a beautiful warm smile and an easy natural charisma that meant he made friends easily.

I didn't have more than a fleeting thought about the height thing when it came down to it. Because when the sparks fly they fly.

Mind you- if my husband had been a tall man I probably would have continued to think I could only be with a man taller than me, so I don't judge those who think the height is imperative. I think for most women if the man you fell hard and fast for was shorter you'd have still fallen for their humour/ smile/ charisma/ personality just the same. But you'll just never know.

I’m 5’3”, DP is 6’2”.

We met OLD and the very first thing I said on meeting him outside the restaurant for our first date was “you’re tall!”

Having dated men between 5’7” and 6’4”, I would say the ideal height for me is 5’10”, so a difference of 7 inches. I do sometimes get a crick in my neck looking up at DP! But I wouldn’t swap him.

I’m 5’7 and my partner is 6’ and perfect for me. I love wearing heels around him. I tried dating apps before him and always put the guys height had to be above 5’8

Height (or weight) doesn’t matter one jot to me.

I’m 5’3” (& very heavy) and DP is a 6’3” beanpole, but my previous bloke was 5’4” and about the same wide! It’s what they’re like as a person (and whether I like their face) that’s important to me.

One of my friends met an absolutely perfect man, he made her laugh all evening, had all the attributes she wanted in a man. But she couldn’t get over the fact that he was a couple of inches shorter than her. Shame really as she’s lovely and it sounded like he was too! But if you don’t find someone attractive then what can you do?

Me too, I’m 5’7” and DH is 6’2”.

I'm 5 ft 2 inches and DH is 6 ft 4 inches. I never notice or think about it except for feeling slightly resentful that we can't have a smaller car. And if he's not there and I need to get the folding step out to reach something at the top of a cupboard.

I'm 5ft9 and partner is 5ft 6. Doesn't bother me, its the heart inside that matters more, always does.

I am 5ft 2. My late DH was 6ft 2. It was perfect.

I miss him sooo much. He made me feel safe and secure. He could also just do everything that was at a height around the house. Now I have to use my little step ladder every time for even the simplest task like opening/closing some windows, getting something from the top shelf in a cupboard and changing bulbs in ceiling lights. No problem reaching products on the top shelf in the supermarket if he was around but now I have to wait until someone tall enough happens to come past.

The only (extremely minor but funny) issue we did have was if he was putting something like a new mirror up on the wall. If he (understandably) put it up at his natural height then I could barely see the crown of my head in it.

I can always tell when out and about in public when something has been put up by a very tall person. A couple of years ago on a holiday in Spain I needed some more cash but the ATM I came across was at above eye level for me! It's the only time that has happened, but I had to get DH to do it for me. 🤣

5’8” and 5’11”, I would prefer slightly taller but it’s not an issue

I’m 1” taller than him - 5’8”. With ex I was 6” taller. I’m dating the man, not their height.

I’m 5’9, he’s 5’10. We basically look the same height. He’d love to be taller.

Luckily, our 2 sons are both over 6’.

I totally get the subject of mirrors and pictures though. I have a beautiful mirror in the living room which was put up by a tall relative. It’s quite heavy so needed proper brackets - it was only later that I realised I can just about see the top of my head. Too much hassle to take it down now!

There's about 4 inches between us, which I like... I don't hurt my neck to kiss him and sex is better! I have dated over a foot between us and it's not for me.

So he was 5' 2"? It's like one of those maths problems trying to work that out! I have never been that bothered by height, a very confident man can carry any height.

One annoying thing about DP being so tall is that when I look up at him to talk or kiss him etc I get dazzled by the stupid spotlights on the ceiling! I hate bright lights at the best of times but having to look directly up just to look him in the eye, I can’t avoid them. When we move in together I’m going to ban ceiling lights!
