I feel like we have a 'puppet' prime minister and his 'puppet' back benchers.
It is embarrassing. I feel like the UK has become a joke with so many countries/institutions.
I mean what do the 'boat people' think when they manage to trick their way in here. They must be thinking what a load of completely naive, stupid fools we are and laughing at us. I mean there is tolerance and there is just being a complete doormat.
The bond markets are rapidly losing faith in us and god knows what will happen after this first budget since we are all getting little hints of what is to come here.
I don't really feel like anyone is in charge of the country. There is no direction, no plan, no money, no growth. It is bad enough we have all the worldwide worries re Russia, Oil shortages, changing world order without actually allowing unvetted men to sneak into the country/and or toss a kid aside to save themselves. I feel angry and helpless.
The men who are protesting at the boats arriving. It's hard to know if they are using it as an excuse to cause trouble or if they really are trying to make a stand/show how upset we all are. I feel like somebody needs to 'do something' because we feel dangerously close to a UK big bang.
I can't lie - I feel hopelessly nostalgic for the nineties when the country was less crowded, house prices were low, NHS seemed to be working pretty well etc. I want that back and I'm not ashamed to say it. People expected to work, wanted to work. People had aspirations and ambition.
The trouble is the rot is now infecting the whole barrel. Those who work hard and are ambitious are leaving or losing their motivation at seeing how unfair it has all become.
I know the nineties had the new labour govt so perhaps missing the nineties seems strange. I was probably too young to appreciate politics then and of course they did start all the immigration off didn't they.
How hard is it to make a list of the top 10 priorities for our money.
You know like
- defence
- law and order/policing
- Education
- NHS etc
Then to look at the pot of money and split it according to what we have to pay.
- debt interest (no choice)
- Repayments to reduce debt (better do it before it all needs refinanced to higher rates)
- Defence Cost
- Law and Order Cost
- Education amount allocated
- NHS amount allocated
Income in = xxx Income out (including interest and debt repayments) also xxx
Then they could split the buckets down. So okay we can afford to allocate xxx to NHS. So what are the basics - okay we will pay for vacs because we obviously don't want a return of measles, small pox or whatever. We pay for cancer for example and other listed priorities. Everything else you pay yourself because the NHS pot has now been fully allocated.
I'm quite sure it is not as simple as that (or maybe it is). However what it would take is a govt who are committed to getting the country back in order and being unpopular. I mean my dog is handsome, likeable and wants to please everyone. Should he run for PM?
Please god/IMF/whoever somebody DO SOMETHING.
