Has anyone else seen the news about what’s happening in Portsmouth this evening
A boat has arrived in Hampshire and the protesters from Dover are currently in the sea blocking passage with hundreds more on the quay blocking coaches waiting.

You got me quite nostalgic for the 80s then!

I really hope they don't complain.

It is actually at primary education level too all this starts young, we’re really protected from some of the bad stuff. We should value that.

Ah okay. Good to hear. So which ones are you saying are thugs? The men in masks? The men in the water? The one’s who actually committed violence?

The reason they wear masks despite being law abiding is because there are a list of acceptable opinions in the UK at present which are policed by fear and punishment. What’s on the list changes and most things would be have been totally acceptable 20 years ago but are now totally outside acceptable behaviour. For example, saying you want England to remain majority white now is ‘“bordering on a hate crime “.

Another example, a year ago we had to say that women can have penises otherwise we would have face the consequences (losing your job, getting thrown out of groups, socially ostracised, social media campaigns to get you sacked etc etc) but now it acceptable again to say that men can’t have penises.

It’s hard work to keep up and this is why it is important to only get your news from acceptable sources and not GB News or X as otherwise you might lose track of what is permitted this week (sarcasm obvs).

TLDR They wear masks because they don’t want to get the sack

British people just look sillier and even more embarrassing. That’s what. And the rest of us cringe because they aren’t representing our beliefs and values. Like those bloody flags. So they get their freedom of speech while the rest of us shuffle our feet and wonder what happened to our wonderful country and how it got so mean spirited.

What does that twaddle even mean? Who are shuffling their feet and who are embarrassed? I’m horrendously embarrassed at the politicians representing this country currently but I’m not shuffling my feet and thinking about ‘mean spirited’ people 😬

What do you want me to say? He’s a really lovely guy and I wish he was my neighbour. Him and his mates. This bloke who held someone ransom at knife point, went to prison and met Twatty Robinson and became even nastier. I’m supposed to say, that’s ok mate? If he comes to my church I’ll make him a cuppa and have a chat. I’ll even pray for him. But no, I don’t want him near me in anything but a public space because he’s bloody scary.

It also suggests to me that some people are being disingenuous. 😒

I would think forgiving people their sins would be one of your Christian values?

100% but I’d need a little bit of contrition and commitment. But to be clear, that sort of forgiveness isn’t on my heavenly pay grade. I’d refer him to a bloke I know. Am I allowed an emoji here?

My partner lives in Portsmouth. It was a few hours of chaos, and then a dispersal order was issued, and everyone went home.

Because what will happen to a young working class lad who goes on one of these peaceful protests? He will get dragged out across social media, the mob will hound his place of work, he will have his life ruined. That’s not the worst case scenario, either. That is a knock on the door at 3am, and then prison. Unfairly locked up, for months and months.

For them, anonymity may be the difference between exercising their democratic rights and staying at home through fear of losing their job. I don’t like face coverings. I hate seeing them. But I hate the invasion FAR more, and if new lawful methods manage to make progress where politicians have failed, then that is a price worth paying.

At least the Harbour Mastersat Southampton and Portsmouth Harbour had some cojones, unlike the Harbour Master at Langstone (yes I am local) and the RNLI.

I’m pretty sure Jesus dying historically gives Christian’s a pass to do all manner of horrendous atrocities as long as they atoned for them all on their death beds.

People take to the streets when their overlords fail to listen.

If Andy actually listened to the electorate instead of gas-lighting and obfuscating he’d find out a large percentage of them are very pissed off indeed. They can force the police to Whack a Mole a selection of the protesters and let out some more rapists so three roofers and a plumber can take their place, but all that will happen is more people will move a little further to the right and the next 600 resettlers that come ashore will be greeted by more angry people and the problem will worsen.

You have to ask and commit to change. Reference Jesus meeting Samaritan woman by well. For example. Heavenly forgiveness is between God and individual. We can decide to forgive ourselves and indeed we are advised it’s better for us to. But God knows what’s in hearts and minds. Not us.

Some of us think Labour have listened to the right too much and hence lost their roots. I’m going to give him a chance. No PM is or can be a magic bullet. I’m amazed that after crash, Brexit, Covid, Ukraine and Trump anyone wants to even try.

What? Oh my goodness! I mean, I assume £2000 is a lot of money in some if these countries (wildly guessing here). Wouldn’t that be almost encouraging people to come over, commit a crime or not, and get deported? Honestly there are no sanctions only encouragement and handouts. I can’t get over the comfy pyjamas.

Also conflict. The Yugoslav wars in the 1990s were a formative event for me. I’d never been but my parents frequently went to Yugoslavia on holiday and loved it so it felt familiar and close. Then suddenly there was horrendous bloodshed, ethnic violence and genocide. Terrible slaughter. There are so many other examples of ethnic conflicts, often arising after years of coexistence (like Rwanda). I’m not an expert on these conflicts by any means, I should probably educate myself on them more to see if I can understand the origins of the conflicts but I don’t think I can face it and also I’m not sure the details matter. It’s the overall pattern which seems to repeat over and over again, whatever the specific cause.

And where are the multiethnic success stories? Genuine question, I would like to know. The US is not exactly a beacon of racial harmony any more. Brazil? Canada?

People who are in favour of mass immigration act like it’s not a great big experiment to change a country from 99% indigenous population to less than 50% in a few decades. Lots of formerly homogenously white countries are doing the same experiment at the same time. No-one really knows what the outcome will be, even if they pretend they do. Add in the fact that many people despise white people for colonialism (I’ve mentioned before how tweets celebrating whites becoming minorities and calling it karma for colonialism get hundreds of thousands of likes) and we’re certainly in for interesting times ahead.
