BC for this one!!

last summer I moved to a new village with my 2 teen DC’s following my divorce. I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life and joined a cycling group which I love.

a couple of new members joined a few months ago, one of whom is the vicar from a nearby parish. He’s 39 single. I’m 43.

on Friday we all met for drinks snd I ended Ho inviting a group back to my house. Kids are away with their dad. We all had a few more drinks at my house before people started heading home. There’s been a little bit of flirtation between me and the vicar and it ended up just me and him- we had some more wine and he was being very complimentary and was clearly trying it on. We ended up kissing and I’m afraid that I ended up shagging him on my kitchen sofa. Very out of character for me.

im now mortified that I have to see him at cycle meet this week. My friends think it’s hilarious but im worried he’ll think I’m loose and common. 😲

I wouldn’t be ashamed! Incidentally, don’t priests get a free house with the whole church thing? 😂

Miss888 · 31/08/2026 15:48

More V vicar?

MyDeftDuck · 31/08/2026 15:49

“I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life”……… no kidding!?!? Good on you girl!

Ah, get in! And if you are loose and common, then so is he!

Edited

Just what I was going to say

RainRainKeepComing · 31/08/2026 15:50

Bit late now to worry.

He might be more worried about his 'flock' finding out he got tipsy and shagged you.

Vicars are allowed a life too. Unless I've missed something, the OP met the vicar outside of the church and there's no mention of her being a churchgoer herself, so it's not as if the vicar is taking advantage of a Parishoner.

If he is a Vicar the standard of behaviour expected of him as regards extramarital sex is totally different from some one who is not in Religious Orders. He is allowed a life. But his life is expected to be a moral one and having random sexual encounters doesn't gel with this
If carnal desire is his motivator he is in the wrong job.
Edited to add you make it sound as though non believers are fair game so long as he stays away from the Christian women.

BunnyLake · 31/08/2026 13:49

Haha I thought about that too! Must be a nice, big kitchen to accommodate a sofa.

Not the only thing it accommodated

HesterLeggatt · 31/08/2026 15:52

Have you moved to GrantChester, OP?

If he's shagged this member of the flock, I'm sure he's shagged other members of the flock. A flock of fucks. A flock of flutters. You need to find out op. How many of you Are there?

They still shouldn't be getting pissed and shagging randoms in a kitchen.

There are rules and codes of conduct.

But MN will fall over itself saying how hot it is, living out their Jilly Cooper or Fleabag fantasies instead of seeing it as a drunken, grubby encounter by someone who is supposed to be in a position of spiritual leadership, role modelling and guidance.

You naughty girl! 🤣

I think you've just lived every Mumsnetters fantasy - Lucky bugger!

Do go on...we need to see how this pans out. Please tell us how the cycle goes. Maybe he'll let you have a go on his bike...again. 🤣

Well done, OP! 😂

He was probably relaxed about it all till you posted it on Mumsnet

If this is real then it’s extremely outing!

RainRainKeepComing · 31/08/2026 15:53

Kitchen sofa- you must be in the Cotswolds somewhere.

You are no more loose and common than he is!

I have never wanted to shag a vicar in my life!

I don’t think anyone would choose to shag anyone of that profession if they could help it.

PoliteRaven · 31/08/2026 15:55

We really need an update after this week's cycle meeting!!

If he thinks you're loose and common then :

  1. he must be those things too or
  2. he's not worth worrying about

.... or is this all a wind up and someone has been watching too many Ray Cooney farces? 😂

CleaningWoes · 31/08/2026 15:55

May the Lord open 🙏

Skyflier · 31/08/2026 15:56

Well amen to that!! Sounds like a good night. You are both single - no harm done

Banoffeepie29 · 31/08/2026 15:56

You have nothing to be ashamed of OP! Fornication is a sin in the Bible, so he's broke the rules not you. He can't even follow his own religion and yet he preaches to others, what right has he got to judge you?!

SinuousTendrils · 31/08/2026 15:56

But is his name Andrew?

Is it every MNetters fantasy?! You lot need to up your fantasies, if so!

The Uni college I was at contained the theological college where future ministers were trained. I can honestly say that absolutely none of them were the thing of fantasy.

TheOnlyWayIsIlford · 31/08/2026 15:57

Lossaloft · 31/08/2026 15:31

Oh stop blaming OP.

She’s perfectly entitled to talk about who she’s shagged. If he’s embarrassed by this because his chosen vocation. means initiating casual sex with a woman he’s not even dating, let alone in a committed relationship with, is embarrassing for him, and possibly career damaging, then that’s on him, not her. It’s him who needs to think more carefully about his actions, not OP.

He’s the one who needs to think more carefully about what behaviour is ‘classy’ for a Minister of God.

You've been blamey and judgey about him for being a vicar, I am entitled to my view that for ANYONE to shag and tell, amidst hilarity, and potentially outing them on the internet with loads of identifying factors is shoddy behaviour.
Not because he is a vicar. I am uninterested in that as a fact or anything to snigger over.

I have no moral view at all on consenting adults having casual sex even if one of them is a vicar.

Skyflier · 31/08/2026 15:58

Charlize43 · 31/08/2026 14:12

Does anyone else think that kitchen sofas are just such a bad idea?

Not now, no!!!! 😉

DurinsBane · 31/08/2026 15:59

Hopefully the vicar will step back from his ministry for a while
