Omg I shagged the vicar

BC for this one!!

last summer I moved to a new village with my 2 teen DC’s following my divorce. I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life and joined a cycling group which I love.

a couple of new members joined a few months ago, one of whom is the vicar from a nearby parish. He’s 39 single. I’m 43.

on Friday we all met for drinks snd I ended Ho inviting a group back to my house. Kids are away with their dad. We all had a few more drinks at my house before people started heading home. There’s been a little bit of flirtation between me and the vicar and it ended up just me and him- we had some more wine and he was being very complimentary and was clearly trying it on. We ended up kissing and I’m afraid that I ended up shagging him on my kitchen sofa. Very out of character for me.

im now mortified that I have to see him at cycle meet this week. My friends think it’s hilarious but im worried he’ll think I’m loose and common. 😲

I would not beat yourself up over this ,,,you both are functioning adults and its normal behaviour ,,,My brother was a vicar he died age 57 and he always said ,,,,its just a job with good pay ,,,he had a lot of clergy friends as you would expect and he married another vicar she was also clergy and they had two children ,,,so obviously they had the act of lust and outcome and im sure apart from the two kids they had sexual fun before and after marriage ...my brother was single ...but he was gay man they have a right to have sex too ,,,he had brain bleed died instantly ..Regarding sex and the clergy i remember being 18 and i was in hospital for 3 months ,,,not ill but had psoriasis in those days ,,,im 58 now the treatments required hospital in patient so the vicar came to ward and when it was my turn to see him ,,,he was only young he asked me to come to his house and do some studies with him ,,,he even said he would bring me back in timme for ward door locked ,,,i was that shocked i said its ok thanks anyways,,,it was obvious what he wanted and also id never been on pill so one would hope i would not of got pregant ,,,looking back i regret not going i would of loved to marry a vicar they have beautiful homes champagne dinner parties even ex prime minister theresa may was a regular ,,,,i went off track i think there is no harm in what happened god knows we only get one shot at life take all the love lust and sex and cuddles you both wish ,,,im single 58 no kids ,,,i never met a Mr Darcy ,,im crossing my fingers that i experience good old jiggery Pokery before my time to have it ends and plus the fact i need a guy to justify my vagifem vage hormone pressaries for that smooth and glide motion

I wish you luck on your quest. Did your brother's wife know he was gay?

pollymere · 03/09/2026 08:04

Vicars are supposed to preach sex as part of a long term relationship.

If you didn't use a condom, you probably should get checked out for STIs as well as pregnancy...

Hopefully it's a sign he wants to get to know you better?

CelticSilver · 03/09/2026 08:09

Did he recite the Lords Prayer before doing the deed "For what we are about to receive my the Lord make us truly thankful"?

That's not from the Lord's Prayer.

You do know the thread is fiction?

It never happened.

Either way... My comment still stands. Even in Romantic Fiction you'd be hoping a vicar wouldn't have casual sex. And that the lead character gets checked out. Although, she's always miraculously pregnant in the ones I read.

Isn't it? Oh well, that's what I was told at school - with that level of religious knowledge there's no chance of me shagging the Vicar! 😂

If this is true then he's opened himself to a world of possible CDMs. Idiot.

(I'm married to a vicar)

Sorry, but what are CDM's please?

Probably more suited to cleaning than the one in the living room... and you wouldn't want to disturb the furniture in the drawing room.

Quite, you definitely would not want to do that😁

I had my younger child when I was almost 40. My mother had me when she was 50, younger brother when 42 and younger sister when 45 .

Do you mean you older brother and older sister @ForNoisyCat ?

Of course it isn't the Lord's Prayer. That's a prayer said before food. It never worked in primary school since the food was awful and impossible to eat with gratitude. Scoop of mash with 2 slices of spam and some cubed beetroot.

Our school version was “what we are about to receive, pigs would refuse”
or
”For what we are about to refuse…”

The school dinners were truly revolting

That's a lot to unpack...

Not sure I'd be envious of not being invited to a party that Theresa May was at though, despite the champagne.

It is Grace. The thing that you say before eating a meal.

Very sad that the Lords Prayer is no longer taught in schools.

Why is it 'sad'? We are now a secular society, I'm glad to say.

ForNoisyCat · 03/09/2026 16:07

Ok/ my mum is 99. Im 59, so she was 40 when she had me. younger brother would be about 57 going on 58 if still alive, younger sister born in 1972 so is 56. Ive got fat thumb and keep hitting wrong keys, hence errors !

That was Grace before Meals (if that’s the title), a prayer to give thanks for the food on your plate

In Fiction - You'd only wish that of a Vicar if you are religious.
Most people aren't and don't care.
Being serious, most religions are full of hypocrisy from the top to the bottom.
That's why I'm an atheist.

I learned it before I started school, at Sunday School. I don't remember learning it at school, although we learned hymns and our teachers read us bible stories. In secondary we recited it when a minister led assembly but we were all just expected to know it. My DCs never learned it, even at a C.E. primary.
