Omg I shagged the vicar

BC for this one!!

last summer I moved to a new village with my 2 teen DC’s following my divorce. I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life and joined a cycling group which I love.

a couple of new members joined a few months ago, one of whom is the vicar from a nearby parish. He’s 39 single. I’m 43.

on Friday we all met for drinks snd I ended Ho inviting a group back to my house. Kids are away with their dad. We all had a few more drinks at my house before people started heading home. There’s been a little bit of flirtation between me and the vicar and it ended up just me and him- we had some more wine and he was being very complimentary and was clearly trying it on. We ended up kissing and I’m afraid that I ended up shagging him on my kitchen sofa. Very out of character for me.

im now mortified that I have to see him at cycle meet this week. My friends think it’s hilarious but im worried he’ll think I’m loose and common. 😲

He'll be defrocked!

Well the OP certainly was!

JohnofWessex · 31/08/2026 16:39

OP why did you tell anyone?

MaisieMacabe · 31/08/2026 16:40

Church of England? Doesn't count.

‘I shagged the vicar, but I swear it was in self defence’. 😀

That’s quite the plot twist 😂

".but I didn't shag his deputy"

Viviennemary · 31/08/2026 16:41

Never mind. Vicars don't take a vow of chastity or even celibacy. If you're worried pretend it never happened.

I'm not sure I believe this.

It seems very childish for a woman in her 40s so come onto social media saying this.

Vicars are just well, men or women. They have girlfriends (or boyfriends), marry, and all the usual stuff.

Too much watching of Grantchester, methinks @Lapdog78 😂

Yeah, you need to aim for the RC clergy.

LilWoosmum82 · 31/08/2026 16:47

Omds, brilliant well done, i'm a 43yr old single mum too. Was he good? Did you enjoy yourself? Xx

I am honestly quite taken aback that so many posters genuinely think that casual sex is perfectly compatible with the vocation and vows of a minister in Protestant ( presumably Anglican) churches.

Allseeingallknowing · 31/08/2026 16:50

Wonder if OP would have told us if it had been the GP!

Are they not ok with that?

Is there anything in the bible that says sex between consenting adults isn't allowed?

Babyboomtastic · 31/08/2026 16:55

MaisieMacabe · 31/08/2026 16:51

No they are not!

Some maybe ok with sex in a long term commited relationship (usually discreetly though), but they will be preaching that the proper place for sex is within marriage.

However, vicars are humans too, and often as prone to hypocrisy as the rest of society. History is littered with dodgy vicar's, corrupt priests etc, and those are only the ones we know about. So yes, it's possible that he shags around on the sly. But it won't be something he says is acceptable either. So either he'll be guilty wracken or is a through and through hypocrite.

You have a sofa, in your kitchen?

Is this the stealth brag? That you have a kitchen large enough for a sofa?!

I'm imagining a big kitchen with a conservatory/extension built onto it, so that her 'kitchen sofa' is visible, through the trees at the bottom of the garden, to her little old lady neighbours, who are both scandalised and gossipy. I bet the whole of the WI knew before he'd even pulled his trousers up...

tsmainsqueeze · 31/08/2026 16:57

Did he keep his dog collar on😆

DannyDeever · 31/08/2026 16:57

A straight male vicar? Rare.

Lust is one of the 7 deadly sins, but those were a later invention, not the teachings of Christ. Most societies condemn sexual immorality but you don’t need religion for that. What Christ was concerned about was belief.

Couldn't agree more.
