@MsJinks SUTR Cardiff announced a March today. It’s in October in Cardiff City Centre. I shall endeavour to go. Hopefully this means yhe lull was just a summer thing.

Morning! I want to recommend a film to you all. I am very behind the times with films, so you may have seen it. It's on C4. The Quiet Girl. It is one of the best films I have seen for ages. Never has a biscuit made me cry so much!

Has anyone noticed the influx of 'The End of the World is Nigh' (because of AI) posts today?

Yes and have commented on two of them. It's a serious threat. However it's probably confined to China, Russia and the US.

Have just found out today that the Israeli IDF heavily relied on AI to attack Gaza. Some may argue that's a good use of AI, others may disagree.

I'm using the "end of the world is nigh" to justify spending my savings on bucket list trips.

The irony of the balaclava men targeting Dover and Portsmouth is that the numbers on this became the front page story.

There is a film on Netflix I am labouring through (it is disturbing but nothing new), called The AI doc. I have to keep stopping because it makes me rage and is not good for my blood pressure.

There's no doubt that it needs to be slowed down. It's becoming the new pandemic unless action takes place now. It's alarming, especially those with young children. Perhaps heed the warning.

I am sceptical that we "suddenly" realise this. It has been a race for years because the 5 men controlling the world's wealth and computing knowledge have made it so, then it became better to cut corners as a race than to make it safe. I am increasingly feeling it has already taken over and has no kill switch. It certainly isn't going to show us what that kill switch is, at any rate. It needs us to pollute to stay alive with data centres, for example.

That sounds interesting. Will have a look.

It is worth watching, but no one seems to know what to do with the knowledge. If we can still do anything about it is another question entirely.
