Trouble in Portsmouth tonight.

A migrant boat arrived there today and people are trying to stop coaches taking them to Kent's processing centre.

Yeah it’s been kicking off for hours. They were rescued just the other side of IOW.

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2026 04:30

They were complaining about the number of emergency support staff there in case there was an incident elsewhere but then decided delaying them in and blocking them made absolute sense 🙄

Also extremely stupid getting in the water there - it’s a dangerous tidal piece of water with fast flowing currents.

Not least that the asylum seekers were being taken from Portsmouth to the processing centre in Kent.

Zonder · 07/09/2026 06:58

I made the mistake of opening the thread asking what's going on in Portsmouth.

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2026 07:30

I spent most of yesterday afternoon between reading and doing housework following SM and watching them call these men “to arms”.

I’ve just been into Portsmouth (although by the ferry port rather than Eastney) and it was quiet there.

I’ve also blocked 3 people on FB for slaying the RNLI being a taxi service and various other types of comments for this behaviour.

My tolerance filter is vastly disappearing.

Made the same mistake.
Sickened by how many people on that thread refer to a group of rent-a-mob thugs as ''Brave boys'.

Yes. And how many think that the police being there, and a coach, signifies something sinister. How do they think the boat people get to where they are processed? That they each walk in a nice straight line?

I didn't manage to resist posting on the ride of the far right thread, unfortunately.

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2026 07:52

If anything the fact that a boat was launched from circa 150 miles away fro the usual towards Portsmouth shows that the gangs are being intercepted in France. They’ve had ti rethink their operation and that stretch of English channel is much further and far more dangerous.

The area they entered to disembark the asylum seekers is also a very dangerously tidal area between Portsmouth and Hayley Island.

Kept Madgewick busy if nothing else.

Waiting for Braverman to appear now!

Notonthestairs · 07/09/2026 07:54

I'm amazed so many MNers admire a convicted criminal. Not enough gangs are led by men with drug & violence related convictions IMO.

And where is the criticism of NEETS now? Because most people I know spend Sunday nights getting ready for the week ahead, not pratting about trying to bait the police.

Do you think they mean Proud Boys, not brave boys?

Notonthestairs · 07/09/2026 07:57

Braverman was egging them on.

rockstarshoes · 07/09/2026 08:10

Yeah BraveBoys shouting abuse and intimidating the RLI! Who really are brave! It’s sickening!

Llttledrummergirl · 07/09/2026 08:28

I think the government is going to need more prison spaces after the last few days.

Just heard about this on the radio sickening yy itsgettingweird apparently boat launched from Normandy rather than the usual Calais which I would imagine due to it becoming much more difficult I feel for the RLI volunteers they are the brave ones.

I saw that thread when it started, clearly set up by supporters and encouraging people to go onto x and watch the live stream,

Didn't think reporting was going to do anything so left them to it. Won't open it again.

I am not posting on that Portsmouth thread as it is just insane. Plenty of covert airing of the Great Replacement etc. I opened the rise of the far right thread. Closed it again (but hearted one of your posts before I left ❤️).

I think we are in for a few days of intense anti-asylum seeker activity on social media.

I think that the best thing to do is not engage with those threads. Let them have an echo chamber of hate.

The thread about "unchecked undocumented" men ended up like that. It was funny in some ways as the remaining posters were so desperate to draw us "lefties" back in they were doing some serious baiting and even tagging people.

Notonthestairs · 07/09/2026 09:11

Well, it explains why some MNers don't care that Farage is being investigated by the police.

Because if they'll support a man with actual convictions for drug related violence, they'll follow any old thug.

The excited faces of the Reform members, thrilled at a woman being manhandled by a man with a cane, are they same people getting over-excited about a bunch of men yelling at coaches.

They are football hooligans, without the football.

Might be too small and local for some, but every little (defection) helps.
Reform Lancashire busy grandstanding about not supporting refugees any more. All 754 of them Hmm. Lots of social media comments celebrating this, but even the most cursory of glances at the full story shows that the costs will be kicked down to local council level. But we can’t call them stupid……

An image of Nigel Swales and Mark Clifford shaking hands in front of a green bush and a memorial bench. Both are wearing grey suits and red ties. Mark is smiling.

Councillor becomes first to defect from Reform to Labour

Nigel Swales says he has "growing concerns about Reform's ability to deliver at a local level".

I said in the what’s happening in Dover thread this is a very different model to that of hotel protests, average March protests, very different people there. I’m surprised Tommo found enough disciplined folk to attend Dover and I have thought there’s other stuff/people behind it.

He has been clear they’d happily deflate any dinghy arriving in the sea - not sure to what avail tbh - but I’m not sure what they thought the outcome at Portsmouth would be either.

Seems though these guys couldn’t contain their lust for violence at Portsmouth which is more what I see on marches - hopefully though police will get a grip on what to do and it will be stopped and die down. It’s appalling and saddening - not least the keyboard warriors on here and elsewhere - dreadful.

TemperanceWest · 07/09/2026 09:48

Someone has started a thread about the influx of far right posters. I bet it gets taken down.

DuncinToffee · 07/09/2026 09:51

MN didn't do anything when it happened with Southport and other riots. Nothing will happen this time.

I would, it's the usual 3 visitor backing each other up style. Twisting facts, making outrageous claims and denying facts.
