The wind seems to be affecting DS2, lately. Went out in it, yesterday and he got really overloaded and loud. He hasn't really calmed down, since and his tics have been quite physical and probably exhausting for him. .

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2026 23:46

The wind was very strong and present yesterday and today is humid. I have a lingering headache.

Hope DS will calm down soon PickAChew

An encouraging update - DD1 struggled with the number of people at the wedding and the food - she hardly liked anything. We also between us managed to forget to pack her hairbrush and no other brush would do.

However, somehow we got through it. She did really well, looked great in her outfit (a trouser suit which everyone complimented) and even sang a song when there were performances in the evening and various guests did items.

It became too much for her and we left early but overall I’m very proud of how she coped with a new experience.

The wedding itself was lovely; DNiece looked really beautiful in her dress and she’s marrying a lovely German man. They appear to be very well suited.

Also my cats have all gone bananas. Las (the orange one) brought a frog in earlier (still alive and intact, no idea how it got into the catio) and now he and one of the others are hunting a grasshopper which was unwise enough to come in. The fat tabby is yelling at a moth which is sitting on the ceiling, because it has wings and he doesn't. I'm sure the Ladyship is out there on the prowl too, and the only one not hunting anything is the wobbly one.

Your house sounds great fun!

Excellent - well done your DD and well done you for supporting her.

and that’s excellent re the performance.

I hope you manage to have some good down time now to recover.

PickAChew · 06/09/2026 07:51

I'm glad she managed to get some enjoyment out of the celebration, @LizzieW1969

I was woken up by DS2 flipping his lid because DH dared to have something other than baked beans for breakfast. I've booked a class for this afternoon. It's something I've probably already figured out for myself but I like the tutor and it's a few hours with other adults.

LizzieW1969 · 06/09/2026 08:38

Thank you for the kind words. As a further update, my SIL (who was the MOB) actually came to me this morning to tell me how well DD1 had coped at the wedding yesterday. She’s someone who has been super critical of her behaviour in the past. That really meant a lot! 🙂

I’m sorry you were woken up that way, @PickAChew.

pointythings · 06/09/2026 09:01

Yay your DD, @LizzieW1969 !

Cats much calmer this morning - the orange one even let me sleep in until 8.

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2026 09:18

Fabulous news @LizzieW1969. I’m so glad it all went well.

The audacity 😂😂😂

Solidarity from here though.

Glad you’re getting out for some adult time this afternoon and hope you enjoy the class. Flowers

Zia Yusuf 🙄 I don’t think far left thugs were the problem at their conference

Zia Yusuf 🙄 I don’t think far left thugs were the problem at their conference

I’m sure the police were thrilled with the letter once they’d got over explaining that Reform had lied about the security issues delaying Farage’s speech.

DuncinToffee · 06/09/2026 10:21

£5m for security and 5 women manage to access the conference without issue to heckle Farage.

'British people should to express their political views without fear of assault or murder'

Unless you are a woman with different views to Reform.

But if they were British hecklers surely that’s okay?

the only violence being meted out was by Reform members.

LizzieW1969 · 06/09/2026 10:23

Thank you, all of you. Yes, we’re both very proud of her today. ❤️

Notonthestairs · 06/09/2026 10:24

Of course this is why we need more American, Russian, Montenegran & Thai money in British politics.

Foreign cash for British politicians.

TemperanceWest · 06/09/2026 10:25

If the police had to face down thugs, why aren't there reports of this? Why haven't there been any arrests?

I am glad your DD had a good day @LizzieW1969 .

Indeed, that is what Yusuf wrote after all.

And they firmly believe in free speech

🤔

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2026 10:27

It was far left thugs beating up the woman then? What were they doing at a Reform conference? 🤔

There are no levels to which Reform won’t stoop to play whataboutery and the blame game.

Notonthestairs · 06/09/2026 10:28

That will be British whataboutery. Straight from the Wyoming global office.

LizzieW1969 · 06/09/2026 10:35

We’re on the way home today. I’m back on Mumsnet whilst on route back to the UL. It seems a lot has happened whilst I was offline!

Shocking violence from Reform members against a woman daring to criticise them. Obviously they’re creating their own narrative, no surprise there. 😡

placemats · 06/09/2026 10:40

Whatever happened to two tier policing?

SerendipityJane · 06/09/2026 10:44

Evenstar · 05/09/2026 21:09

It has been on my mind all day too @Zonder it seems like a new low even for Reform and for politics in this country and seeing the streets of Dover filled with masked men is a very unsettling image as well.

How come we had a bonfire of our civil liberties under Blair, and yet masked thugs can still walk the streets with impunity ?

TemperanceWest · 06/09/2026 10:48

Someone posted this on Twitter. A baying mob.
