Interesting to see Miriam Margolyes making the spectacularly ill-judged reference to Andi Peters as “high yella” on This Morning. It was so uncomfortable to watch. Poor Andi

It hasn't got that much coverage, considering that the TV careers of David Starkey and Carol Thatcher were pretty much destroyed by crass comments about race.

So glad I'm not alone on this. He hates humans, despairs that we exist at all but then proceeds to tell us what to do because he, as a human, is a perfect specimen who continues to not apologise for the fact he inhabits the 'overpopulated' planet on a continuous basis for over 100 years. 🙄

Miriam Margoyles actually caused me an injury. I twisted my ankle tripping up in my race across the lounge to find the remote control so I could get her off the telly. She’s utterly embarrassing and unwatchable.

It never ceases to amaze me why she continues to be given air time- especially on anything that's live.

Poor old Andi Peters. I remember a phone in on his kids show, once years ago & a kid said he looked like a Golly but said the whole word. He handled it really well and pretended not to hear & that the line was faulty.

There's quite a bit ov coverage now if you google it - The Telegraph has declared that she is NOT a national treasure!!

He comes across as a lovely chap. A national treasure of the future perhaps🤣

my friend saw him when she was on holiday somewhere and thought she knew him personally but couldn’t remember where from or his name. She chatted to him as an old friend because she didn’t want to look rude for ignoring him if he recognised her. They had a little chat and it was only later that evening she realised who it was and was mortified that he would have thought she was completely nuts!

I wonder if she will apologise to Andi. It would be the polite thing to do (not that polite is a word you associate with MM). I remember a hell of a row over the Queen's Lady in Waiting who asked a black guest, 'where are you from' and she had to resign and formally apologise!

Another vote for Miriam Margolyes, revolting woman, I read the first volume of her memoir and was utterly appalled, both the way she describes her sexual exploits and her treatment of her friend the late Jacqueline Du Pre. Plus she's extremely crude and now we find she's racist too.

You can not believe it all you want but it was heard by over 30 women.

Why on earth are you categorising any of these people as "national treasures"? You are just listing people you personally don't like.

Well, it looks like Margolyes has got away with it. According to Jeremy Vine, she is outspoken, has 'no filter', and that's it. Is that all you have to say to excuse some racist tirade? Some people are evidently uncancellable!

I’m disappointed to see she is seemingly Teflon through this. Her comments were much nastier than an oblivious‘where are you from’ from an 80ish year old. Andi actually tells her that both his parents are black and she still insists on calling him “high yella” a term that calls back to slavery
