who is the person born the earliest that you have know

for example I can remember my great granny, she was born in 1879 and died at 98

but we had lodgers for a while whilst I was growing up and the one lady's born in 1868, always wore a hat to go out, never went out without one.

My great aunt would be 109 she died about ten years ago

My great grandfather who would have been born around 1890 I think.

My maternal grandmother was born in the 1890s (1898 or 1899).

My great auntie was born in 1891, I knew her well. She only died in 1980. I think she's the furthest back, but all my grandparents were from big families and there were often ancient people visiting when we were there.

I'm in my 40s and had two family members who were born in the 1890s alive when I was child. They could remember Victoria being on the throne.

They were my grandfather's relatives.

The man died when I was small, during the late 1980s but Auntie Mary ( who wasn't actually our aunt) lived well into her 90s . She was a spinster and lived alone . The gable end of her house collapsed in strong winds

OP, how did you meet someone who was born in 1868- when did you meet her?

My great grandmother was born in 1900 and died at 95. She was an amazing lady but sadly outlived her husband (who I never knew), siblings and both her children. I felt so sorry for her at the end. I deeply regret not asking her what her life was like as a child and young adult. She got married at 16, can you imagine. Her husband fought in ww1 in the trenches and apparently had an affair which resulted in a child. I wish I knew more.

Do you mean known, then it would my Dads aunt, born 1891? As a child, I went to an art exhibition and the artist was there and he was born in 1881.

Great-grandmother: 1895-1999

Granny, great aunt and great uncles born in the 1890s. Also the sun of my brother's mother-in-law, who remembered seeing Queen Victoria in person.

My great gran, she was born in 1899, and died when I was in my teens, just after she turned 100. Her daughter, my Nan is now 103, born 1923

Ah.. you mean earliest in years.. I thought you meant earliest in gestation... and came on to say proudly that as an x neonatal nurse I was at the birth of a little girl born at 23 weeks. She was 485 grams. I was the 2nd person to hold her, taking her from the surgeon. She's now early 40s and I still keep in touch.

My grandmother's parents were born in 1885 and I remember them. Grandma x died when I was 5 and grandad x when I was about 7.

My granny's uncle Tam, born 1896.

Also, I just missed my great gran who was born in 1864, lived to 94 and died a year before I was born. When I looked up her birthdate to see what happened, it was the day that Gen Sherman marched into Atlanta, effectively ending the US Civil War. That is a very long time ago.

My paternal great grandad caused a great scandal in the 1880s, his family were shop owners and quite wealthy and he married a gypsy girl. It was very hushed up but my grandad had the looks and raised horses!

My Dads Aunt, born 1891, used to tell us about how she saw Queen Victoria's funeral cortège go past. She was in hospital when Queen Elisabeth the Queen mother visited and had her picture taken with the Queen. That was a prized possession of hers. Her generation were fiercely royalist.

I remember two ancient aunts of my granny: Auntie Edith and Auntie Dora. They must have been born 1890ish; and the aunt of my other granny, Miss Mowbray, who’d have been similarly aged.
Her house was very Victorian, row of bells in the kitchen and no indoor loo (this was in the late 1970s).

Seems a shame we can’t talk to them now and ask about their lives!

My grandad was born in 1893. He didn’t die until I was a teenager in the 1080s, so I remember him well.

One of my grandmothers, born in 1885. I was about ten when she died at an advanced age.

I feel privileged to have known people from that generation. My grandad, born 1899, lied about his age to join the army in 1916 aged 16 and went over the top at the Somme. Never talked about it. Dads aunt was a munitions' worker. They were born into a very different world, one full of horses. Grandad would send his son out with a bucket to collect horse shit for his garden. No wonder he left home and joined the navy at the earliest opportunity.

My grandfather was born in 1902, the second youngest of 12 children. His sister was 20-odd years older than him, so must have been born about 1880. I visited her regularly as a child, she used to live around the corner from us.
On the other side of the family, I met my great grandmother only a few times ( she lived in a different continent) and I don’t know her date of birth, but calculate that she must have got married around 1905, so was probably born in the 1880s.
