who is the person born the earliest that you have know

for example I can remember my great granny, she was born in 1879 and died at 98

but we had lodgers for a while whilst I was growing up and the one lady's born in 1868, always wore a hat to go out, never went out without one.

The thing that is really amazing is if you consider who the oldest person your great granny knew !
You could be getting into the 1700’s.

My 98-year-old Nan! She's made of tough stuff! She goes out 5 days a week and says her 'secret to a long life' is Marks and Spencer food! 😂

My grandad. Born in 1898. His first memory was Queen Victoria’s funeral. The family had hired a room from which to watch it all go by.
An extraordinary life he had.

My maternal Grandad was born around 1890 and my Granny on the turn of the century in 1900, Grandad didn't go to war as he was a horse trainer and blacksmith and seen as essential to war efforts at home to support the horses, he was also a fireman on watch . They had 11 kids, Grandad lives until he was in his 90s and Granny died in her 60s.
My paternal Grandad was 1901 and ran away to join the army for WW1 where he was injured in the Battle of the Somme. He died before I was born, he suffered massive PTSD but still managed 7 kids! His wife, my Gran was around but wasn't a loving person, my Dad was brought up by his elder sister mainly. He found all the love he needed with my mum's family who embraced all the partners.
I should write a book on their lives!

I was in the same house, just a few times, as a long-lived great, great aunt and I think she was born in 1866.

I remember my great granny, she was born in 1910. I only have vague memories of her though.

My husbands great aunt was born in 1904 and we would see her quite regularly in the 1990’s, she was a very spritely old lady. She died in 2000 at the age of 96.

A neighbour many years ago. She was born in 1890 and joined the Suffragette movement. The stories she told me about her time in prison and the barbaric act of force feeding broke my heart. I was very honoured that she allowed me to (briefly), hold the medal she received on her release from prison. She lived through so many historical events and she was a truly remarkable, dignified lady who I shall never forget.

Great gran born in 1891 and died in 1980. She raised me for quite a while. On the other side of the family was my great great gran born in 1874 but I was young when she died so have no real memory of her.

I think those dates pretty much match my great grandmother's birth and death.

I didnt meet any great grandparents. The eldest I have met was 1912 Milvina Dean from the Titanic.

My Gran was born in the 1890's. She was 8 weeks off her 100th birthday when she passed away. I never met my Great Grandma but she emigrated to NZ at 99 and a half to go and live with her oldest daughter and died just before her 105th birthday.

My grandfather born 1891. He fought in WW1 and was still working shortly before he died in 1980. He was interested in everything- he loved listening to classical music but bought an ABBA album as he had heard they were popular and wanted to see what the fuss was about (didn’t like it!).

My nans ex landlady from when my nan came over from Ireland in the 1920’s. She must have been born in the 1890’s and died when I was a teen in the 70’s. She was like family to us and came to tea often.

My great grandmother was 100 back in 1955 so was born in1855 I was taken to meet her in Pontypool South Wales as an 8 year old .

My great grandma on my mum’s side born in 1890 one of eight children, other seven all boys.
She brought my mum up as her own mum was not the best.
I have a wedding pic of my mum’s and my great grandma is on it I think she’s about 70, she looks about 107. Old woollen coat, knitted bobble hat, thick tights and knitted booties.
She lived 94. Her eldest son lived with her for a while and I can remember her turning up at times with a black eye. She was 4 ft 11. I absolutely hated him.
My mum had her living close to us in the end. Out of all her kids and grandkids not one did a tap to help. My mum did everything for her.
She used to say to mum if there is anything here when I’m gone you take it, please take it.
When she died I can remember my dad finding bottles of coins probably came to enough to pay for her funeral.
Then several thousands in her little freezer compartment. And my mum, far too honest, divided it up between my great grandma’s living children who turned up to take it, never to be seen again.
We were living through rough times as well in the early 80’s that money could have changed a lot for us.
But it taught me a moral lesson.

Well I know a bit about my great granny..

R.D. Blackmoor came o stay int he Inn her parents ran, and he wrote Lorna Doone. I visited a couple of decades ago and there was a framed letter behind the bar written to my great great grandmother from R.D. Blackmoor.

I have a photograph from her wedding and a bible that has names and dates of birth scribbled in - so have a photograph of my great great grandmother born 1840

There was also a murder, but less said about that the better!

Gosh she sounds amazing.
My parents had quite an aloof neighbour for many years we only knew her as Mrs Jones as in her surname.
I can remember driving past her once in my first car and it was raining and I gave her a lift home. She invited me in for tea and we became such good friends.
She has been a Land Girl during WW2 and I loved listening to her stories.
Then she worked in a really swanky fashion boutique in the 50’s and 60’s. Her children had all done well but I can’t say they visited very often.
I used to ring her every Sunday after the Strictly results or sometimes for no reason.
I used to go over every Christmas Eve and take a film with me. I can remember putting Sex and the City on and we got a bit pissed.
Then I heard a few Land Girl stories that made Samantha look tame.
I can still remember her Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds perfume.
We had a key to her house in the end as she got more frail and she died in her sleep one night and I was so upset.
Her daughter came up the next day and demanded the key and was asking questions about if I had taken anything and that it was just close friends for the funeral.
And that was the end of that.
We became good pals I used to go in with my problems and stories and take my fashion magazines.
And I often think our roads, streets and avenues are packed with older ladies with all of these stories which very few here.
Without their bravery, us women would neither have the vote nor the freedom to do it!

My paternal grandmother, born in 1900. She died in 1990 when I was in my late 20s.

My great Aunt was born in 1877 and died in 1973 . Her sister was born in 1880 and died in 1977 . Both had such long lives . My grandad was 1895 and my Nana 1898 both lived until the mid 80s .

My great grandma - born in 1893. She lived in the Parlour in my aunts house, with a china cabinet filled with fascinating things. She alway used to give us 50p when we came to visit - which was a fortune in the 70s. We used to go to visit my Nan's aunt and uncle every year as a child - they were born in 1895 and 1887. She used to get a pressed tongue in when we came to stay - it was years before I realised what that actually consisted of.

Great aunt born in 1898 and died 2002 - so she was alive in 3 different centuries!

My DH’s Grandad was born in 1898 and died in 1998 40 days after his 100th birthday.
He was a lovely man, and despite living in a home for a couple of years before he died was as sharp as a tack!!

I didn’t know my DGF who was born in 1887 but I did know my DGM who was born in 1889 for a short while.

The oldest was my Nan, who was born in 1925. She was so lovely and lived to be 93.

My son was born at 31+4 weeks but I know of others born at 28 weeks who have survived and coming up to 10 years old.
