who is the person born the earliest that you have know

for example I can remember my great granny, she was born in 1879 and died at 98

but we had lodgers for a while whilst I was growing up and the one lady's born in 1868, always wore a hat to go out, never went out without one.

I would say my great gran, my gran was born in 1921 so I would guess my great gran would have been born at the turn of the century, 1890s.

My grandfather who was born in 1889. I remember him and he died when I was 4.

I’ve known a few born in the 1890’s - most obviously my DGM who was born in 1899.

I guess my great grandmother. My grandad was born in 1901 so she was probably born around 1880. I visited her as a child in the 1960s.

My dad was born in 1906 and died in the 80s when I was 9. His siblings were older and I knew them, and we had lots of neighbours who were old when I was a child so would have been born in the late 1800s.

I was going to say that I was born at 32 weeks and here I still am 50+ years later, but that’s not what you meant.

You mean the oldest person I’ve known.

My aunt by marriage, her dad planted a tree in his village on his hundredth birthday, and died a few days before his 101st. This was in the late 1980s, so he would have been born in the late 1880s- around the time my house was built!

Mr grandparents and their siblings were all born around 1906 but I’m fascinated that people here knew people born pre 1900!

My grandma, born 1894. My other 3 grandparents were born earlier but died either before I was born or when I was a baby so I couldn't claim to have known any of the others.

My nan - 1901. Her husband was born in 1896 but he died before I was a year old so never knew him, but he looks very old fashioned in photos. Wore trousers up to his armpits with braces etc.

Some Of my great aunts who were born in the late 1800s - seems mad to think that now! Obviously they’re long dead but they were v much alive when I was a child and I remember them well.
My grandma was born at the turn of the 20thC / she died at 87 in 1986.

My grandfather , born 1905. He could remember the news of the Titanic sinking and the news of the declaration of was in 1914.

My grandmother was born in 1880.
I remember her well, she taught me how to knit! She remembered the Wright Brothers very first flight and lived to see men walk on the Moon.

Me too. I'm in my mid 50s and my grand parents who I remember well were all born about 1906-13.

My step-grandmother’s mother. I vaguely remember her as a child in the early 80’s. I think she died in 1983 at 101. So she would have been born 1882 or thereabouts.

Edited to add that I am in my 50s and remember many family members who had been born 1905-1915

My grandpa, born in 1899, lived into his 90s despite losing an arm in WW1 and being reported dead. His parents received a letter from his CO saying that he'd died of wounds at the same time that they received a letter from him saying he'd been badly injured and was in hospital in France. They didn't know he was alive until he turned up at home weeks later. He was 18.

And my GranGran, my Grandma's mother who was born in the 1880s possibly earlier, can't remember the exact date. I have her engagement ring which she was given in 1902. Grandma gave it to my mother who gave it to me when I was pregnant with my first daughter in 2002.

Great Grandma born 1899. ExDP’s great auntie (lovely lady) was probably born slightly earlier - probably about 1897 or 1898.

My gran’s half sister who was born in 1886 and lived into her 80s
My gran was one of the youngest of a large family and was born in 1908

I'm in my early 40s and remember my great grandma was born in 1896.

Great grandparent who was born in 1880. I remember visiting at her home and she had red drinking glasses. She died when I was 6.

I knew a great great aunt who was born in 1882. She led an amazing life too - went to university before women could get degrees, worked with her husband to found a major and very well known charity.
Her sister was a little older I think and was my great grandmother but I don't remember her and there's only a picture of me on her lap when I was a baby so I don't think that counts as knowing.

My paternal grandmother was born in 1891 (my dad was quite old when he had me). I just missed knowing my maternal great-grandmother who was born in 1873 as she died two months before I was born.
