Christ, I hate grating cheese. If I have to grate, I buy it grated. (But not Parmesan because I'm not a savage)
also real garlic if it's going in a tray bake, but anything else I buy the frozen stuff from Tesco
Dried chilies instead of fresh, and cooked food
haven't sieved flour for 30 years yet unknown for my brilliant sponge cakes

Frozen - garlic, ginger, basil, chopped onions, chilli, stir fry veg, Mediterranean veg, aubergines, butternut squash . I also make my own frozen herbs.

im veggie, everyone else eats meat, so it’s really useful for me to have stuff like that in the freezer!

Chopping onions..

40 years of it and my eyes still really burn when chopping them. I wouldn't mind if it was just tears. Once the tears start the burning.stops but usually by thr time I start crying , the onions are done

I always try to use frozen now. I am.less likely to get DS complaining when I've used frozen as the burning pain means I just don't spend much time chopping the fresh ones small enough

Also grating cheese . I use pre grated a lot, in recipes even with the powdery taste. To be fair I'm not keen on much cheese so I often make ds and DH grate their own onto the dish after it is cooked, if that makes sense like on baked potatoes, chilli and rice, and on pasta etc. I just put a block of cheese and grater on the table for those meals

I "flake" cheese with a cheese knife if I need it, CBA with grating.

I don't skin veg, the best nutrients are in the skin anyway.

Oh come on @Sgtmajormummy pre-grated Parmesan taste like sick

Pre grated is not great but I do actually use a food processor to gate all the block parmesan I buy. Then I freeze it in a big tupperware container. Then use it as needed in cooking from frozen ( it is easy to get out a portion using a big spoon) or leave it to defrost while cooking if needed on table as it only takes about 10 mins to defrost. It works really well and tastes much much better than pre grated . You still need to grate it but making it a big job once every 10 -14 days or so and then having ready grated available while cooking just seems easier to me

To be fair, a lot of people think Parmesan does generally smell a bit sick-y. It’s got the same acid in it as vomit, or something like that.

Any1ForTennis · Yesterday 20:59

I hate rubbing fat into flour, I always buy ready made shortcrust pastry and crumble topping.

I equally hate setting up the food processor resulting in the above purchases!

Washing salad stuff...if it comes in plastic I rarely bother. Ill wash if it looks a bit soily.
Was recently staying at the in laws and I had to wash everything under the inscutable eye of my MIL 😁

Yes, it's all parmesan. I still like it somehow.

Onions make me cry a bit less after being in the fridge. I know they're probably not supposed to be stored in the fridge, but it does help a bit. I still find them a massive faff though.

@Castolaya could you link to the chopper you've got please? I don't quite know what you mean and it sounds brilliant!

Used to hate cooking rice but bought a Panda mini and it cooks rice perfectly in half an hour

My food processor is going up for sale when I get around to it, I now use one of these

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/salter-ek6521mblk-kuro-chopper-black-10279020.html

Its really powerful and takes up no space and is so easy washed

Squirty ginger
Frozen spinach
Frozen casserole mix

Fresh Soup mix

I only have a tiny flat grater for parmesan , I dont do grated cheese, even for a sauce I just cube it

Never bother peeling carrots - just wash , DH peels the spuds

I would never bother with either fresh or dried. I thought parsley was just something restaurants added as a garnish. What does it actually add to a dish?

It is usually in garlic butter and in garlic bread etc, it just looks more appetising 😂

Same amount rice as boiling water (measure both in a jug), wash rice in pan with cold water and drain before adding the boiling water, when it starts to bubble on hob turn down to medium, put lid on. It is done in 10 mins -perfect fluffy rice every time.

JumpLeadsForTwo · Yesterday 21:56

I bought a kitchen aid small food processor- it’s about 1/2 the size of a normal food processor, but bigger than those tiny food choppers. It’s amazing, easy to get out the cupboard and fling in the dishwasher when done. Anything that needs chopping go straight in, but so much less faff than the big good processer.

LooneyLiberalSpaceWaster · Yesterday 21:56

Garlic comes in a jar, onions and peppers are frozen, chili is dried. I think that's it. I don't mind grating cheese, I always eat the tiny bit too small to grate.

SixAndJuliet, try dicing it up while its frozen then let it defrost, not so slimy that way. I buy boxes of gloves as I can't stand touching chicken.

DemBonesDemBones · Yesterday 21:57

Garlic. Always lazy garlic.

ArcticBells · Yesterday 22:00

Grating carrots for coleslaw. I even bought a machine to do it for me as I love home made coleslaw

rainbowsparkle28 · Yesterday 22:23

Grating cheese (I always buy it grated, life’s too short…)
Chopping fruit and veg - I buy a lot of frozen veg that easy to just add in to a lot of dishes and mixture of whole and pre prepared fruit sometimes

Yeah, I can cook rice. I just can't be arsed

I tend to use lazy garlic and frozen chopped onions as I hate prepping those!

FunnyOrca · Yesterday 23:10

I bought a rice cooker as a student and now I’m my 30s have to admit, I could not cook rice without one. I genuinely wouldn’t know where to start.

Always buy pre-cut butternut squash. I don’t really like it enough to bother carving it up.

There more I’m told to sieve flour, the harder my resolve to never sieve flour becomes. I mostly object to washing the sieve

DancingFerret · Yesterday 23:18

Peeling, cooking, and mashing potatoes. Waitrose's frozen mashed potato is a freezer staple for me.
