I'll start with British Gas, awful company, very expensive and customer service is non existent..there is a reason they have lost a few million customers of recent years, close second place is EE for similar reasoning.

Vauxhall. Took a male friend with me to choose my first company car. They spoke to him the whole time and ignored me. That’s 30 years ago and I’ve never even considered buying one based on that experience

Just Eat. They told us to cancel an order because the restaurant couldn't fulfill it and then said we couldn't have a refund because we cancelled it. Gits.

Gousto
Hello Fresh

ive tried them with 50% off vouchers, carefully pick out my recipes and get excited about eating something else this week, with the ease of the correct ingredients in the box.

I have tried 3 x and on all occasions at least one of the boxes has not been delivered (5 meals for 4 people comes in at least 2 boxes)
On 1 occasion nothing got delivered.
its easy to call them, and I have always got a refund straight away but the whole idea is it would save me hassle and time. But there I am finding the phone number, calling them and then still have to go out to meal plan and go to the shop.

I am not falling for it ever again 😠

Oh my goodness yes, ordered after a hospital stay ….yoghurt had exploded over a whole box …they wanted to refund just the yoghurt when it had coated everything…grim……Hello Fresh.

Gousto would send meat for 3 meals that would need to be eaten one day after delivery ….their customer services are awful…refunded then sent a sorry to see you go email ..a very defensive, expensive company

Nat West , they put my life in danger by sending a letter to my ex with my new “safe” address in it.
They did admit wrong doing and paid a substantial amount in compensation to Women’s Aid in my name . Obviously changed banks and address !

wizzler · Yesterday 22:03

Also John Lewis I’m from Sheffield and they sold us down the river

BlueRaincoat1 · Yesterday 22:06

Dove, ever since that ad campaign years ago where they asked if people supported public breadtfeeding or of they thought 'put them away'. Haven't bought their products since. I was breastfeeding at the time, and was so shocked by such a horrible, sexist campaign.

Still the same with other garages. Bought a new car about 3 years ago, took my partner with me to look around/test drive 4 different makes. Despite telling them the car was for me, I was paying, they mainly spoke to him. One shop tried to sell me the car I didn't want because it was a good colour for girls. (Hyundai).

Some common names cropping up on this thread

Talk Talk. They insisted that they HAD to continue to send bills in my recently deceased father's name to my bereaved mum and there was no way to change the name. We actually paid additional costs to get out of the contract to save my mum the pain. I don't care if EVERY competitor is more expensive they will never get a penny from me.

Booking.com. One of their owners cancelled our booking minutes before we were due to arrive and they refused to get involved and help us. We had to sort out alternative accommodation for us and two young children on our own.

Me too. I hadn’t even chosen them but they got my account when my original supplier went bust. They were truly abysmal. I stay well clear of them.

Soak and Sleep….3-5 days delivery was weeks. Pillows sent open poking out of a grey plastic sack. Thank heaven the delivery guys photo shows this…they then asked for them back when they say items sent to them in retail packaging will not be refunded for hygiene reasons…but they wanted something back BEFORE refund that had been sent in exactly that way. AVOID

Experian….they have a by post complaints service for their cryptic “a hard search” has been undertaken grifting emails.

Vera Underwear is a scam company not UK based in China

Also Citroen. We were unfortunate enough to have a C3 Aircross with one of their wet belt engines. The belt failed at 45k miles (wasn't scheduled for replacement until 60k miles). The car had been dealer serviced but one of the dealerships hadn't put the grade of oil used on the invoice and had (several years later) closed down. Citroen used that as an excuse to avoid paying the £2k repair bill. That was our fifth citroen and our last. I was so pissed off that when we bought our next car (from a different car brand) I sent a copy of the invoice and the explanation of why we were now ex-Citroen customers to their UK MD.

That’s a shame, I absolutely adore my soak and sleep mattress topper.

Oh, I'm also boycotting

  • Ryanair - I've never flewn with them but I don't want to either. I don't at all mind budget airlines, but I feel like Ryanair is the lowest of the low.
  • Air India - just because I've seen so many videos of how dirty and old their fleets are. Never flewn with them, never going to.
  • Malaysia Airlines - just because I'm traumatised by the two major incidents that happened a few years ago. I just don't feel safe with them.
  • USA. I find it so funny when Americans taunt immigrants and talk as if their country is Paradise on Earth, like it's the place to be and the place everyone wants to come to. To me it's the biggest shithole on Earth, and it's a place that seriously terrifies me due to the fact that any lunatic can easily get access to guns and use them. To me, USA is the most unsafe place on Earth and I'd rather go live in Afghanistan than USA. Land of opportunities my ass. Opportunity to go bankrupt if you go sick. Opportunity to rely on tips. Opportunity to pay just as much taxes as in Europe but without the social welfare benefits. Opportunity to risk your children won't come home from school because there's been a mass shooting at their school. Opportunity to live below the poverty line. And the opportunity to have an orange demented grandpa baby with grandios opinions of himself as the leader of my country. I'll pass.

Scottishpower. Currently putting me through hell, and just awful customer 'service'. I hate them with a passion previously reserved only for my ex husband.

I hate them too ! and British gas .
A nearby chip shop-delicious chips but grumpy owner , he can shove his jumbo sausage were the sun don't shine !

Cotopaxi · Yesterday 22:13

Starbucks. I don't particularly like the taste of their coffee, and their tea is awful. Don't much like their ethos when it comes to paying taxes in the UK either.

the Talk Talk thing is exactly what Homeserve did to me. Twice with a 9 year gap between. Once it was my late Mum then my late husband. Everyone else was kind and thoughtful, supspended accounts or changed payment details immediately by phone pending receipt of death certs, told me not to worry about delays.

BabyShaark · Yesterday 22:15

Ryanair. They cancelled a flight back in 2017 and handled it appallingly. I don’t even recall what the issue was but it was bad enough for me to swear never to use them again (I have stuck to it).

Evri (and anyone who uses Evri) - obvious reasons. And yes, I do ask before I order (or do my research).

BT - where should I even start?

FaceEatingLeopard · Yesterday 22:15

Anything Dyson. Wouldn't have it as a gift after his contribution to the clusterfuck of Brexit. Same for Wetherspoons. Wouldn't eat there for free.
Anyone else in charge of anything that got behind it as well. Fuck them all - hard - no lube.
Virgin Atlantic for charging over £200 extra for my partner's seat on a flight. I was booking us together and going by the price on their website but no - only one seat could be bought at that price. Fucking outrageous behaviour but I have a shitload of points with them which I wasn't prepared to lose by flouncing. They're in my Cunt Book though.

Starbucks is just coffee for people who hate coffee. Once and never again. More or less the same for Costa. Independents all the way for me.

Chucklebunnie · Yesterday 22:16

Airbnb. In fact the whole concept of ‘private host’ accommodation where the host rates the guests.
Only used it twice, the first time was someone’s spare room which was fine but the second time was an annexe on a house. They complained about me eating a takeaway curry and wanted to charge me an extra £100 cleaning fee for the curry smell.

Talk talk. I split with my ex and moved out but the bill, which was in both of our names, came from my account. I phoned them multiple times, a millionth in the queue, waited for ages, finally through and then put on hold for ages and then cut off. So i phoned again...and again and again. After 5 nights of this I was so exhausted I decided I hated talk talk more than I hated my ex and i just paid his stupid bill for 7 months as it was preferable than trying to speak to a human.

Sheesh - came to say same - decided not to accept my power of attorney and demanded I be with my parent to speak to them!! Unbelievable.

Redrosesposies · Yesterday 22:18

Well I am not and never will be in the market for a set of golf clubs but if I were, I would not be buying Callaway.
Has anyone else seen their latest advert?
It features a man physically assaulting and threatening a women. It may be their Budweiser moment.

ID mobile! They have zero customer service basically!
