Why is Taylor Swift ‘leading’ tributes to Dolly Parton?

It’s irritating the ever living shit out of me. Fuck off Taylor, go and think up another publicity stunt. A woman with actual talent has died, this isn’t a bandwagon for you to jump your plastic ass on. Have you read her torrent of drivel - she manages to shoehorn herself into the spotlight throughout. It reads as if she views Parton as laying the groundwork for her own career - monumental fuckwittery.

Yep, Dolly was shrewd. She certainly wasn’t dumb and knew it was a business and how to play their game. Clever lady! Very talented lady.

Here you go OP. Get your critical thinking gear around these.

Firstly, you’re clearly no Dolly Parton fan. She would be appalled at you tearing another woman down like that, and especially at your implying Taylor Swift was talentless. Dolly gave numerous interviews talking about what a great songwriter and impressive business woman Taylor Swift is.

Secondly, as others have pointed out “leads tributes” is just how the headlines have phrased it - Taylor Swift isn’t claiming to be leading anything, she’s just expressing her grief about a woman she loved and admired, and because she’s a public figure, she’s doing it publicly.

I don't think she is 'leading' tributes, you've fallen for Daily Mail headlines OP. Maybe wise up a bit.

I doubt that TS wants to lead anything. It’s just her opinion on someone passing away who was a great influence and she knew her. They probably feel sad today and I hope they give her a big old fantastic send off! She deserves it.

So great - and she said she admired Taylor Swift's financial decisions as well as her closeness to her family and musical talent. Although TS is from a wealthier background, there are a fair few similarities in that TS who also moved to Nashville at a young age, regained control of her back catalogue and treats the people who work for her extremely well.
The OP's bile about Swift's 'plastic ass' is pretty funny in relation to Dolly Parton who said "If something is bagging, sagging or dragging, I'll tuck it, suck it or pluck it."

Taylor Swift is a huge, global popstar. She started her career singing country music. She has rightly paid tribute to the wonderful Dolly Parton. No need for this angry reaction.

What an unpleasant description of a talented and, by all appearances, perfectly pleasant woman. And “plastic ass”? How horrible.
TS can pay tribute to whoever she likes in what ever way she likes. Have you thought perhaps that it’s the media that create the headlines and not TS or are you that filled with hatred for a woman you don’t know that you can’t think straight?

I’m no Taylor Swift fan but I wouldn’t deny she’s talented.
She also won’t have declared herself to be ‘leading the tributes’ it’s just a wanky media phrase reporters use.
It’s common for artists to explain how the deceased influenced or inspired their own career when paying a tribute.

Some media outlet has described this as 'leading' because she is one of the most famous and relevant contemporary artists not because she's decided that she has the starring role and has her pr team edging out the competition!

One of those other phrases that the media trot out constantly ATM that really annoys me as it's total media made up drivel is

As if they've gone out of their way to avoid conversation rather than just not spoken publicly about a subject which is often a private matter.

I went to read Taylor’s tribute to see what could provoke such ire, and I honestly can't see anything that anyone could take issue with in this statement:
