A woman with actual talent has died, this isn’t a bandwagon for you to jump your plastic ass on. Have you read her torrent of drivel - she manages to shoehorn herself into the spotlight throughout. It reads as if she views Parton as laying the groundwork for her own career - monumental fuckwittery.

I thought that was a bit odd this morning - last night the BBC headline said Elton John, Paul McCartney and Oprah were leading tributes; but now Taylor Swift is ? I like Taylor, but I don't see how she is leading anything if the others did it first ?

It’s just the media isn’t it. They have acres of news to fill in and like to use such language for effect. It’s really nothing, it’s just that they want to pay respects and a lot of them actually knew her.

I've been listening to tributes on the radio for the last twenty minutes. I haven't heard anything from Taylor Swift. Only that newspaper that you read decided to use the word 'leading'. I'm pretty sure that Taylor Swift didn't promote herself to that position, and nor does she have it. It's a figure of speech that the journalist chose to use.

It's just a half baked headline. Noone is "leading" the tributes. They are all just posting their own tributes.
They might as well say "Susan from Slough" leading the tributes. But they choose the most famous tributes they can find.

Taylor Swift started out as a country singer, so Dolly did pave the way for Taylor’s career and it is a fitting time to talk about that.

Dolly was all about building people up, yet you’re angry because someone you apparently don’t like for no reason is paying tribute to her How ironic.

It's completely typical to invite people working in the same field to comment on someone's death and Swift is the best selling female artist of all time and a gifted songwriter who Dolly admired. Maybe Dolly’s no nonsense approach to the music business paved the way for TS to also take control of her own destiny and re record her albums. She was a tough cookie and a positive role model for many as she soon realized how easy it was to be bullied by the men in suits and wasn’t going to be!

It's the press who have decided Taylor Swift is 'leading tributes', not Swift herself. It's just the wording they use for 'the biggest and most relevant name' who has left a tribute. Swift is a female singer with a country background (relevant) and an undisputed A-lister (big).

The press always pick someone who is 'leading tributes' - often a Prime Minister or monarch for public figures, or for celebrities, another celebrity in the same field as the deceased. It doesn't mean the person has said "I'm putting out the first tribute - follow me, everyone!". It's just a trite headline.

They were very complimentary about each other when Dolly was alive - she said she admired how Taylor manages her business, personal life and inspires young people. I don't think OP knows much about either woman or she would know they have similar music and aspirations and charitable backgrounds.
