Misandry and Mumsnet

Is it acceptable to hate on men openly without apology? Would it be ok of it were the other way round.

As a woman and mother of sons, the attitudes and comments on MN border on hate speech and I think Mumsnet HQ should do something about it.

Is this really how we want to balance the scales?

The thread has moved on. We were trying to discuss a violent rape that happened to me.

I don’t whinge about things like that. I’m sure you’ll appreciate why.

I think you need to read the whole thread.
This post is in poor taste given what @Taztoyis discussing.

Thank you.

I am trying to get people to understand that women don’t fight back and that I wasn’t strong enough despite my best efforts. I still have the scars.

I’m so sorry.
I understand what you are saying and agree with you wholeheartedly.

I’m actually disgusted that someone thinks it’s ok to come on a thread like this in the middle of what we are discussing and plop emojis and describe what I’m discussing as a “whinge about the men”.

honestly it’s upsetting to have what he did to me minimised to the point that I can’t discuss it in any terms without being told I’m whinging.

never mind the fact that I can’t actually describe what he did because other people find it too upsetting. It’s pretty damn upsetting for me. And I don’t get to read it.

Maybe read the thread the next time, please?

eta. You edited your post. I’m really upset. It’s hard for me to talk about in a detached enough way so as not to fall foul of mumsnet rules.

Tbh no, people are able to respond based on the op.

But I have apologised and wish you well.

That’s a dick move. You should read the thread. And at least the op and a post or two above where you’re going to plop. In my humble opinion.

I don't tend to walk around alone, or at night much any more, but the men I know cross over to opposite side of the road or drop far back if they notice a women walking alone.

Obviously, no one can know who around them has the potential to hurt them. Male or female.

The OP's (long gone) question was: 'Is it acceptable to hate on men openly without apology?' It isn't acceptable to hate on men or women openly without apology.

And I shall post no further on this thread.

Please can we avoid the ‘hate on’ terminology- an American import. In UK English ‘we hate men’ or ‘we hate war’ - we don’t ‘hate on’ bad grammar. Sorry ! Had to get that off my chest.

You think that someone discussing being raped is "playing the victim"?

I don't think we need to worry too much about misandry taking over Mumsnet.

‘Ladies’ 🙄
It’s not ‘playing the victim’ when you actually are the victim.
Please can you explain how murder, rape, sexual assault, harassment and misogyny in general ‘serves’ us?

Pointing out that the average man is typically up to 100% stronger than the average women, so unless we're talking about an exceptional circumstance involving a big strong woman and a tiny man, PP was being quite ridiculous in suggesting women walk men home to protect them isn't 'playing the victim'. It's challenging his goady nonsense.
Similarly stating that there is a difference between a female police officer with training, body cam, handcuffs, CS spray, a baton and back up and the average woman when it comes to dealing with dangerous men isn't 'martyrhood'. Its pointing out something so obvious even those who use more emoji than syllables should understand.

It's in a quote from the OP. I don't really like it, either but I was quoting the question posed by the OP.

I didn’t lie.
I asked why you’d not responded to my question as to why you’re so adamant I was using the term ‘class’ incorrectly in the context of this discussion.
You questioned my intelligence and accused me of using AI in my response but you refused to explain why you thought I was wrong.

I also responded to you saying you don’t walk alone or at night and that all the men you know cross over the road if see a woman walking on their own - I challenged your assumptions on those points.

Just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean it’s a lie.
