Partner unhappy with my outfit choice for a warm barbecue

So im Currently at a bbq with friends, only a few i dont know.
Its really quite warm and sunny, what i would call beach weather. My DP has quesgioned my chice of clothing on this paricularly warm day which consists of denim mini skirt and a close fitting crop top, its alittle sheer with diamantee style lettering to the front.
In heat like this i would normally be in a bikini in the garden.
I think hes well out of order

You can wear what you want.
You might look a bit daft or inappropriate but you can still wear it.

Maybe at your age nearly 50. But not for a 33 year old.

In winter I wear a denim mini with thick black tights and brogues; my legs are quite decent. I am 55 ;-)

What does it say in diamond on the front? And what do you mean by sheer? It’s quite hard to imagine but I don’t think it’s something Kate Moss would wear 😂

And don't take fashion advice from mumsnet. Have you seen the dresses they recommend on the style board. If it's not florals, it's tent style Toast or Cos dresses 😂

How is early 30s to old for a denim skirt and crop top? Im 37 and wear that on a hot day. I am happy in my body and it's hardly Nike Pros and a sports bra ffs.

No, I've seen women of all ages wearing denim mini skirts. Some shorter than that!

Disliking an outfit doesn’t equal jealousy, why would it. And if the OP has a supermodel figure then good for her, she can have her pick of amazing outfits!

Is he concerned that it’s too revealing? And is your concern that he’s being controlling or that you should be able to wear what you want?
There’s quite a wide spectrum of what might or might not be acceptable here. I usually value my husband’s judgement because I know I don’t always get it right.

A short skirt AND a crop top AND diamanté could, in some circumstances and by some people, be viewed as looking cheap, especially if you are busting out of the top or have a cuddlier middle. It just really depends. You might need to give us more info!

This. Ignore your dh, op, if he is trying to police what you wear and also ignore the frankly ridiculous and bitchy comments from some of the other posters.
