Does anyone else feel the UK is heading towards a crisis?

Price rises not coming down, cost of living gone mad, car crashes, heatwave after heat wave, wild fires.
NHS is falling, NHS dentist is like winning the loto, threats from russia.
Bills cost more than anything.
Benefit bill is out of control.
People getting attacked.

I may have missed a few things, but it feels like the UK is just building up to something big gonna kick off.
Im sure it won't but life is just crap right now.
Not to mention we are gonna get a hell of a winter with this EL nion predicted.

I feel like saying lets have a full war and end this crap then re start again( figure of speech), not living just surviving.
And the cost of being a parent now is unreal.

But the relentless negative focus on Muslim men is creating fear out of all proportion to the risks. You see it all the time on MN. People fearing to allow their daughters out in case a Muslim man attacks them. People saying they fear for their daughters' futures because the UK is going to become a Muslim state. People claiming Muslims are being sent here deliberately to replace the white Christian population. I even saw a post the other day claiming that there are night flights full of immigrants landing on military bases.

There probably are politicians and those that support them who would happily suppress headlines. Look at the treatment of Rhiannon Whyte’s family.

I think Labour terrify the population unintentionally through their hapless management of the country. That’s very different.

Tbh , every generation have these crisees ( sp?) Think of the Thatcher years , terrible un̈employment,inflation at 14% , miners strikes, power cuts, Falkland war, Russian theat re Yeltsin v Reagan etc . Humanity somehow fudges its way through it all.

Yes, I agree. I have lived in the country for 20+ years and it isn’t at all what it was. I won’t be retiring here and I won’t be investing anymore into this country. When I turn 60 I’m out.

So if we fix the system so that no men who are sexual predators can enter the UK, then what next? Is it job done?

No, need to fix it so that there are no poor and/or disabled people next.

Obviously not. I do not want any crimes to take place. That is common ground that we can all agree on. What alternative system do you propose? (and I’m looking for something that’s actually workable and that, critically, wouldn’t trigger a trade war with the EU).

I’ve put below a vetted and controlled system would be better. I think more of the electorate would be more amenable to that. Although the longer politicians gaslight the more that opportunity would be lost.

Not sure how a vetted and controlled system would work and certainly wouldn’t address people attempting to make the crossing by small boat, lorry etc. What’s your proposal for the large proportion of asylum applicants who arrive lawfully and then apply for asylum once their relevant visa expires? The answer is that you don’t have a workable alternative system.

Of course you can’t keep the system as it is, otherwise you’d just get both.

You are not looking outside the U.K. at viable systems, but stuck on it’s just headlines if we could only ignore these crimes instead.

The fact is that boat crossing are down this year by a very substantial amount and a combination of measures appear to be working in that regard. You don’t seem satisfied with that, yet have no alternative proposals. I’ve never said that we don’t have an immigration problem, but I do think that it is not an issue of the scale and importance that we’ve been made to believe. You keep talking about my perspective being “look over there”, but you can’t seem to see that’s exactly what people whipping up a frenzy over immigration are trying to do.

You asked and answered your own question. How do you know what the options are if you do that.
