Another adding respect to you MsJinks

@BIossomtoes hope Mr Blossomtoes recovers well. Make sure you rest and look after yourself.

DuncinToffee · 21/08/2026 18:43

The i Paper is reporting that the UK is close to an agreement with Belgium on tackling small boats.

Co-operation works, who'd have guessed.

Another bit of good news, be good if some of it actually cut through some of the bollocks currently doing the rounds.

Yes it certainly appears that they have a whole host of close confidants they confide in - the amount of experts anointing them, their motives, their finances etc !

It keeps the media busy

It just so sad, all of it. 😢😢😢

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 22/08/2026 08:39

Saddened to read that the 6 year old girl in the Shoreham drowning accident has now died.
I am however genuinely appalled by the reactions to sympathetic comments in the Daily Mail.
Far greater numbers of 'down ticks' than 'up ticks' to any comments expressing sympathy and recovery wishes to the little girl.
What the fuck has happened to compassion in this country? I always thought that was one of our national characteristics.

That's so sad.

TemperanceWest · 22/08/2026 09:05

Poor little girl, what an awful tragedy.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I don't know what is wrong with people. You see it here on MN too. The hatred for asylum seekers is rotting their brains. I was on a thread yesterday. Because I wasn't up in arms about asylum seekers having access to free condoms (like every other person in the UK above the age of consent) it apparently somehow means I don't believe that some asylum seekers commit crimes.

Isn’t it just.

Finally get a new life where they feel safe and then die in the most horrendous way.

Sometimes life is just cruel 🥲

Heartbreaking news 💔

Like @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats , I cannot comprehend people who behave like that, it's scary.

Such tragic news poor child, sometimes I think some people are enduring hell here on earth to have sought safety & then the whole family wiped out is beyond cruel I hope they find everlasting peace.

BestIsWest · 22/08/2026 11:35

Such tragic news. To escape one terrible situation and then to be engulfed by such tragedy. Heartbreaking.

PickAChew · 22/08/2026 11:41

It beats me that people are so happy to be arseholes.

DuncinToffee · 22/08/2026 12:14

I am mostly staying away from those threads, no use arguing against that kind of 'logic'

I feel there’s so many more about since I was a kid - and life wasn’t all moonlight and roses in the 70s for sure so it wasn’t just crossness about your own situation making you bitter.

The Internet making it easy to find your tribe and find your abhorrent or weird ideas are ok here - rather than laughed out the pub a couple of decades ago?

It is just awful and sad though - no compassion for the 6 year old child is beyond no humanity 😢

All those experiments and research into why the Nazis did as they did - just needed to watch life play out over a few decades really for real time data 😖

Notonthestairs · 22/08/2026 12:25

There are surviving children.
I hope they never read the hate that has been directed at their parents and sisters.
Shameful.

itsgettingweird · 22/08/2026 16:21

Same here not . And I hope they find the life they came here searching for

TemperanceWest · 22/08/2026 19:31

Mumsnet is really ugly this evening. So much hate ☹️

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2026 19:37

Oh, I'm chatting shit about The Voice in Telly Addicts.

DuncinToffee · 22/08/2026 19:47

My football team won and the PM and his wife were in attendance.

I happily ignore the hate tonight
